    I cannot agree more SPC...

I always knew that's how I felt all of my life and now even more so and I know what I have lost, some joy exists but its never going to be the same.

Think of all the good times you had with your Mum. Memories are precious.

I forgot my bio. I am young, rich, blond, and slim. I am very good, kind, patient, and I go to mass 15 times a week. I never lose my temper or get ratty, am a domestic goddess and a cordon bleu cook. ;)

If you weren't such a liar you'd be perfect.

Hi to ARTDECOGIRL, CARLYMUMMY, and Welcome back SMILEYT - sorry about the job. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone. Just trying to catch up again so still behind.
About me: Early fifties, part time working at home / house wife. You don't hear that expression much these days. Learning a lot from these threads about saving money, cooking etc. Two grown up children, one sometimes here, the other mostly here. So three/four to feed. Joined second purse challenge a few months ago and building up a good stock cupboard and saving loads. Lurk on grocery thread and try to budget along with them, shocked at how much I am spending some months. Love to just go out on a picnic with a flask and relax, or even sit in the garden when the suns out with a cup of coffee. Don't need expensive places to go. Tried growing own veg the last few years but not successfully, I think because of all the rain we had. So didn't bother this year and wish we had now with the better weather, but never mind lol. Think that's about it. Esther x

Hello to all I have missed...
Most know my situation(good way to look at things SPC)and thanks...
OK, male, living alone, health issues 55 years old.

I got to Whitby yesterday :D

All went well(ish)saw everything, took my time, treated myself to some inexpensive items(a portion of chips)

But...where I should have been safe and on level ground...managed to have a fall(fell like a sack of potatoes)and quote from my blog...(images posted there too)

"I took a photo of the Lifeboat. I was on level ground and walking slowly(I cannot do anything else)what I did not realise was that though I was on level ground there was an incline and it became a step further along and when I put one of my feet down, there was nothing there and I went down heavily like a sack of potatoes. Prepared better I could have avoided what happened next.

My carrier containing my book went flying, as did my hat and worst of all, my new expensive camera of two months(I had been getting ready to take another photo)was not in its case but in my hand and the way I fell it scrapped across the stone floor, if my hand had been a different position it would not have been, I almost got away with it, almost...I hurt my knee and perhaps being disorientated was unable to get up.

Some kind people came to my rescue and I thanked them, made my way to a seat. The book was slightly damaged(not enough to worry about)then I inspected my knee raising my trouser leg expecting to see it bruised, bleeding and badly scrapped(it felt like it was)but though sore today, I got off lightly...and then to inspect the camera.

The plastic around the LCD screen on one side was totally scraped with deep rough scratches. And I mean really bad. Under the extra guarantee I thought it might be repaired, it cover accidental damage but in the end decided to buy(I know this sounds drastic)some very fine sandpaper so there I was in Whitby attacking my camera with fine sandpaper(probably annulling the guarantee)even the one for accidental damage.

The camera still works, the scratches are removed(well they are now fine one's)and they are smooth and it looks a lot better but on that side of the camera it no longer has a black, shiny finish. I suppose I got off lightly all things considered. But you cannot change what has happened. Always that little word "If"

Yet the old camera it replaced lasted years, was never dropped or damaged in any way. At this rate this one isn't going to last long which was the plan."

I took my first trip on the sea yesterday too and no sign of seasickness too.:)

    Taking it easy today though...

Hi everyone loved reading the Bio's.
Mine- im 24, mum of two aged 4 and 3. My 3 year old has Aspergers. Im due baby girl number 2 in December and she' s hopefully going to be my first truly old style baby! I will be using cloth nappies fir the first time and im very excited! I gave up work a year or so ago as my son didn't cope well with me being gone. Absolutely love being a Sahm/housewife! My husband works full time in restaurant management and looks after us well. Feel very lucky and very excited about learning lots here. Love baking, knitting, cleaning and home school my eldest.

Just pottering today, got some washing on the line but it looks like it may rain soon. Hopefully it will be at least nearly dry by then!

Did a massive two week (fingers crossed) shop yesterday for £115. I know I can do better but its a massive improvement for us and hoping it will last then I can build on it.
  • Poor old you POPS hope your knee isn't too sore today, that camera must be really tough, it's a survivor isn't it? Look after yourself and take it easy for a few days, Cheers Lyn xxx.

With all the bios being written it seems a good time to say hello so hi from a long time lurker. I'm in my 30's,am outnumbered by the menfolk in my house( hubby and our two boys).

Trying to gain a balance with work and life, I started a second part time job last year.I used to be 'time rich and cash poor' am now 'time ok'ish and still cash poor'. Not sure how it's panned out that way?

Love cooking and baking...and eating! Think the love of eating came first which has lead to the other two. On that note I best go check my
bread dough, the warm days has certainly speeded up it's rising. Take care and hope you all have a good afternoon.

The lurcher never ceases to surprise me, I've just had a call from He Who Knows who took our boy for his afternoon walkies and Docky wanted to go further than usual and not stick to our usual route across the common and then back down the footpaths. He wanted to keep on to the main road where he purposefully took his Dadi to a bus stop and laid down and refused to go any further. It's a mystery as it certainly isn't a stop we've ever used with or without the dog. 4 minutes later the bus that runs back to the village came along and the lurcher calmly led his Dadi on to it and sat down in the pushchair gap and rode home in style. He has been on busses before but not often, I've never known him to initiate riding on them, isn't he a clever old thing? Lyn xxx.
