Good morning everyone. Welcome to ArtDecoGirly. And hello to Smileyt sorry things went so wrong in the job and good luck with the appeal. I'm fairly new here myself but love the thread for its friendly, welcoming and supportive members.
Jps, hope your health improves soon, you've had a really bad spell.
Congratulations on forthcoming grandchild MrsLW.
And good luck at the hospital Sunshine. The prices they charge are ridiculous. I always try to take a bottle of water with me and fruit or crisps to keep me going.
Legs are very painful this morning so plans have had to change as cannot go out til they ease a bit. Am fed up with it. Considering going back to GP but know she will just refer me back to specialist and am seeing him this month anyway.
As can't do much moving about or standing will spend the morning catching up with crochet. Making holdall type bags for church air in November. Also have shawl planned for Christmas pressie for friend. So have plenty to keep me occupied.
My potted bio is very boring - am 60, widowed and live on my own. Had to leave work earlier this year because of arthritis. That's about it. No interesting hobbies to report. Have a house full of rubbish which am clearing one bag at a time.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Morning everyone!
Bit later than usual today, as part of what made our night out was two for one train tickents into town--95p each, but we had to wait 30ish minutes for a train after the music finished, so we got in bed a bit late. The music was nice, but more importantly we had fun and it was a nice evening out.
I'm really enjoying these bios, I only knew bits and pieces of some of these things about some of your lives. Welcome
I'm 30 as of this summer. I'm technically American, but my parents moved around so much and have lived in some far flung places, no one really claims me as being from their part of the world.:rotfl: I've been living in the UK for about 7 years now. Originally came to do a masters, then decided to work for a year and then started a PhD. I was planning to move to the US after that but met my OH and we've been official, in ink for two years next month. My parents live in Europe, so its nice to be closer to them. No children, OH is an NQT secondary teacher. I like to cook, do diy projects, and I'm a novice gardener who is fascinated by every little change in my garden. I've got a pot of OS dreams I'm working towards (although finally finishing full time education will help!)--namely a house with a multifuel, a bigger garden OR an allotment and a pantry full of my own home grown preserves. And, we're soon hoping to get a very spoiled kitten! I always seem to write an essay for my posts, but I do pop in and out depending on how busy a term is.
Mrs LW--what lovely news!
Mar, those courgettes should be lovely cooked that way.
Good luck at the hospital Elona, and NuttyP I hope your dh is feeling better soon.
Can't remember, but to whomever suggested the lucozade, I might try that next time. They also suggested I might ask for diazapam next time, although i'm not sure if that would make it better or worse.
Jem, we had a collie for a little while growing up. I remember my mum using one of those floor sweepers with the disposable pads, but she made reusable ones out of fleece, they helped to pick up the worst of the fur quickly a couple of times a day. hth.x0 -
I am a long time lurker of this thread hope it is ok to join you all
I'm Carly almost 32 (in a few weeks time) married for almost 9 years but we have been together for 15 years. We have 3 beautiful sons (I'm biased though) our eldest is 12, middle is 9 and youngest is 4. I am a stay at home mum as of 2 years ago I lost my job in the school budget cuts (was a special needs teaching assistant and had been for 10 years) I am glad to be at home though as I suffer from hypermobility, arthritis and am asthmatic too. Would be really interested actually to know if any if you with arthritis take the Kelp and does it help?
We always struggle for money as we are in an IVA 3 years in so on countdown now.
I love all things old style - LOVE to bake and cake decorate do so for family and friends all the time, love to sew although I am most definitely a novicelove cooking, gardening and love being around for my little family.
Sorry for the essayx
Proud mummy to 3 beautiful boys!0 -
Morning everyone.
Just had the estate agents arrive here to break some news, We’re now as from October to expect a rent increase!
Not the greatest news first thing - As if money wasn’t tight enough as it is, I feel like its just one thing after another with our life’s! Today’s mood: Totally fed up!!
I’m hoping to get all my monthly bills, cheques & letters sorted this morning. I really haven’t been feeling great with my depression over the past few days. I just feel like closing the curtains and climbing in bed….I know I cant do that & I have to face these issues - But its tough.
Managed to get some bits already done, which hopefully will make the weekend quieter as we’ve got friends coming down. OH made his HM brew last night & I’m going to disinfect the beer bottles ect, so its all packed away.
Got all the bedding washed & had to dry it indoors as its suddenly come over black here. Still got another 3 wash loads to do!
Nuttyp: Glad to hear your OH is on the mend. Hopefully he wasn’t too embarrassed.
Hope everyone has a fab day!!Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -

You have the right mindset to make the best of what is available with the resources you have available, and we're here to help you through it all. Chin up chicken!!!
Hello CARLYMUMMY welcome in to the thread, it's nice to have so many new people joining in and not just reading along with us it's always good to have new friends to talk to and share with, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Welcome Carlymummy. I have arthritis and am just trying the kelp. Only been using it about 10 days and no difference so far. Will keep you updated about effect - if any. I know it does not work for everyone.
I know how it feels Princessx87. I had word last week about rent increase as well. More stretching required. :mad:Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Hugs Princess! Take a few minutes to yourself today--even if it is five minutes curled under the covers! Just make sure you come back out again. Good luck sorting your paperwork. Also, check your rental agreement and make sure the increase is in line with the agreement you signed, usually it says how much of a percentage increase is acceptable after the initial term of agreement is up. Estate agents usually don't try something so obvious, but you never know! Above all, chin up, you will manage!x0

Thanks for the good wishes AOT, I hope your specialist can help you too. Not being able to breathe properly for weeks has taught me how much I should appreciate it when I am able to breathe and be pain free. I'm getting there now but my goodness this is a bad spell.
Poor MrNuttyP! Being a very keen wildlife gardener I thought I'd mention that if you are putting your washing out at this time of year, always check it before you gather it off the line for resting bumble bees. Later, in Sept/Oct, wasps will tuck themselves into laundry on the line as well. It seems to have been a good year for bumble bees around here.
If you find a bee on your laundry, you can get it to walk onto a piece of paper or stick, and then put it on a good nectar source such as buddleja if one is available, or just some dry vegetation if not. They'll only sting if you squeeze them/sit on them!
Wasps... well I'm phobic so I shriek, run around and thrash the laundry around till it's gone, but there are probably much better ways to deal with them if you're calm and collected!
I'm very tempted to try kelp, when I can get to a health food store.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Morning All!
Glorious here today - blue sky, sun and a lovely cool wind whipping up the waves, so much fresher than of late.
Hi Carlymummy!
Congrats on the news Mrs LW!
Hope Mr Nuttys nethers improve - what a nasty thing to happen!
Welcome back Smiley, lovely to see you posting again!. What a bu88er about work, hope the appeal goes ok. Do keep posting, you had such funny stories to tell!;).
Hello JPScloud, good to see you back too!
Quick biog for newbies - mid fifties, married, newly self-employed with OH running a mobile fish and chip van in lovely west Wales. We were both long-term Govt employees who had a rush of blood to the head and upped sticks, left our jobs and London behind and are loving life here. No children, an elderly cat and a newly aquired baby sparrow that is blind (he can't half cheep!).
Working tonight and tomorrow evening, it will be manic if we are as busy as we were on Wednesday, we had to stay open an hour later than normal to cope with all the customers.
Hugs for those feeling down and poorly.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
carlymummy I have been taking kelp for three weeks as of today and am now virtually pain free in my joints. I do still have muscle pain due to a lack of full movement but I am working on that. I did take three as per the bottle instructions but cut back to two recently and there is no change so I will stay with that for a bit.
I am mum to 6 (all but one grown up) and Grandma to 12. I am 58, 59 later in the year and married 40 years. Dh retires in less than 4 years so we are looking to sell this place and move. We should have put the house on the market this year but as usual things went wrong. It is giving us time to do jobs ready for selling though.0
