Smiley - welcome back - so sorry to hear about work woes.

Welcome to Art Deco Girly - come on in, put the kettle on and join in!

Had a lovely day today. Had OT this morning, she is handing DD over when she starts school to another OT with a bigger budget for equipment in school (yay!!) but keeping hold of DS and we can call her back in at any point if we need anything else for DD. She was very impressed with DD's progress. Then we met new friends this afternoon with another mum and little man who will be starting DS's nursery in Sept. LO also has disabilities and mum having similar probs as we did with a certain physio so lots to chunter about!!

Very tired now as we had a bad night last night - DS was up in he middle of the night for hours (well only an hour actually but it felt like hours) as his last tooth coming through is playing him up then there was a serious amount of bed hopping this morning after DH had got up and gone to work - first DD was in DS's bed with him, then they were in each others beds then both in DD's (you get the picture) and they couldn't manage to do any of this moving around quietly!! I shouldn't moan really as operation big boy bed has been surprisingly problem free so far.

Done my Mr T order to arrive tomorrow morning and it cost a bomb - mainly because I've put loads of extras as we are going to our farm park on Saturday with MIL, PIL and Only Nephew for MIL's 80th birthday so I am taking a super dooper special picnic with us and have arranged a cake there (am slipping them an 8 and a 0 candle as we'd need a blummin' big cake to put 80 candles on it!!) Going out for dinner on Saturday night as well, using Direct Payments (as this has just been organised) for the first time to pay for it, we'd kind of wanted to do something for us as a first one but timing!! so there you go.

To add to GQ's potted bio idea - mid 30's recently married SAHM to 2 kids with disabilities, also doing OU degree, lots of crafts inc dressmaking, patchwork and quilting and cardmaking, neglected my garden more than I would have liked this year but the nasty slimy sluggy things get short shrift here too - I favour a pair of scissors and the snipping in half treatment!!

Hugs to anyone who needs or wants one, take care - X

Hello Smiley, welcome back! I'm not kidding, I honestly thought of you just a few hours ago and wondered if you were ok - what a coinkidink!

I remember your posts fondly from a while back - I mostly just lurk but always enjoy reading this thread.

Sorry to hear about the employment hassles. It stinks that employers have got people over a barrel these days. Hope there is a satisfactory outcome for you.

Quick bio from me then, as GQ has kicked it off :D

I turned 50 this summer, live in the north west with my lovely cat, work in school with stroppy teenagers and enjoy being a singleton with a wildlife gardening passion. I'm as poor as a church mouse but enjoy life, and feel well supported and validated by MSE and particularly this thread and the messies thread.

I've been really ill, since a week before we broke up from school. It was flu, then bronchitis - I'm so weak and feeble and only just starting to mend. I have laryngitis and vertigo now! I feel as though there's no end to it. I'm not sure whether to feel glad that it's the holidays so I don't have to feel guilty for being off work, or annoyed that I'm so ill when it's summer holidays.

I was too weak to do a proper supermarket shop, so finally tried online with Mr T. I think it was well worth the delivery charge, because I didn't get distracted and buy stuff I didn't need which usually happens when I am in the store.

Right, off to loaf about on the sofa for a bit. Love to all xx

I am so sorry about the job.

Had a busy morning walking to local weekly market for farm eggs, changed library books and kept dd company for INR blood test this morning then treated her to a butty and a cuppa.

I got loads of bars of soap a few years ago when there were six to a pack and still have lots left as only DH uses it. Me and the DDs prefer good shower gel in shower and then value shower gel to fill handwash containers.

Managed to get two lots of sofa cushions washed, dried and replaced, hoovered house, tidied kitchen and cooked chicken fettucine for tonight.

DH grew little yellow tomatoes :j and has brought in three large courgettes ( or maybe small marrows) so plan to half them. scoop out middle and stuff with mince/Bolognese type and sprinkle with cheese then bake for tomorrow evening as we all liked it earlier this week. Depending when we get back from hospital tomorrow morning will pop to butchers and then maybe bake tiny quiches or make pizza whirls as well.

New washing machine is delivered on Saturday so hope it does not disrupt us going for a nice meal as a pre birthday treat for us all. Looking forward to having a full house and just going with the flow rather than over planning things.

    Hugs to all

Hi ArtDecoGirly, Im 50 and staying at 50 for a few more years as thats well old enough for now :D Carer for Hubby, crafter, pennypincher, prepper with my own orchard ( 4 mini tree's that I am far too proud of but its still an orchard ). Doting grandma to one little man who loves everything I make him from seats to clothes to cakes. Fill my long hours in the house making stuff for charity and for a craft fair or 2 that Im hoping to do with Smileyt. Have to sell some as the house is officially full of crafty stuff.

I am in the grip of a courgette glut :j and am so happy after the disasters of the last few years. Have been told by someone on FB that sloes grow at the back of the reservoirs down the road so I may make sloe gin and choccies for the C word, I am teetotal but really want to try making it, it would be rude to waste them :rotfl:

Smileyt, how rubbish on the work front. Hope the appeal has gone well!

Hi ArtDecoGirly, welcome. I'm 24 (yes I feel like a baby on here but in a good way :D ), going to uni in Northampton in September, had chronic clinical depression since my mid-teens so have been a bit slow to get a degree! Also was homeless between the ages of 17 and 21 which made things a bit difficult! With parents for the summer holidays but moving into a lovely new house from September with uni friends. Username is because I'm a Pisces. Like cats, guinea pigs and gin but not necessarily at the same time, and I'm also obsessed with proper bars of soap! So much cheaper than handwash as well.

    Morning all

Lovely fresh, breezy morning here, the grass is dew sodden which was very shocking to bare toes when I hung out the washing just gone 6!

Nutty - hope Mr Nutty is feeling more comfortable today, tell him there's a hoard of online women enquiring after his delicate bits, should raise a smile.

SmileyT - lovely to see yo back but sorry to hear about your job.

Me - collect cats (real ones and wooden ones) and smurfs (yep, really), got a couple of DDs (and seemingly two DS's but I, sure they're just DDs BFs who seem to spend all their time here), DH is disabled so we're together 24/7 which wouldnt work for some but it does for us. I sew, crochet, cook, clean, garden and generally faff about. I turned 40 a few weeks back which was less scary than turning 30 for some reason. I live in a beautiful corner of the country on the coast (well, there's 300ft drop to the sea at the end of the road) - makes for some beautiful views.

Morning everyone, mr nutty has gone to work so I haven't spoke to him yet, he leaves at 430am for an hours drive to work. Not ideal but it is money.

We have both been declared BR due to loosing our home, and suffering unemployment for a short while. Money is always in short supply and im an avid bargain hunter.
