On the hottest day yesterday I was ok but at 1am like Pooky it was too uncomfortable and I had to throw the bedroom window open...I had no bedding on too.

No doubt it will be different come winter.

Ive got my windows open 24/7 , couldnt sleep shut up whatever the weather, you sleep loads better with fresh air....Why dont you buy a cotton sheet and take the duvet off, cotton is lovely and cool and thin to sleep in.......

The night time temps here have been 15/16/17 degrees for the past few weeks ........It is difficult to sleep when its hot and muggy, but sleep is very important .....................Sheila....

We have bedroom windows open constantly, on the safety catch when we're out but even in the depths of winter I have to have fresh air to sleep. (I don't have the radiators on in bedrooms either - far to stuffy). We have a winter weight duvet for each bed and switch to brushed cotton bedding and a bedspread on top of the duvet when it's really cold. This time of year it's a cotton sheet with the bedspread. Bedspread gets draped over the bedstead incase it's needed during the nightt but the sheet is fine. I won't use a fan in the bedroom as I'm aware of how quickly your body temperature can drop, can be very dangerous.

Hester, welcome back, hope you're ok, we've all been worrying about you x

I won't let DH keep the window open of a night as I'm scared if intruders. I woke this morning after having a really nice sleep - the window had been wide open all night, unbeknown to me.

All windows are left open during the day, sometimes even when it's feeling chilly. I don't do air freshner, just free fresh air.

Hi Hester, welcome back nice to see you. So many people have been worried. Do you still have your blog?

3D's DD&D is she ok does anyone know?

we have rain, thunder and lightning in abundance but it's not cooling anything down yet. we also have windows open in bedrooms throughout the year, and no radiators on except in really extreme cold, (when you can't sleep because your head is too cold despite a woolly bedhat) and the windows are open a crack then. the quality of air in a non-ventilated room during a night's sleep can be very poor.

Thanks for cake recipe, will try it over weekend as there is nothing sweet here.

Fuddle....that must have been the tornado that we were promised...

Windy here but not cold, we have had a couple of short thunderstorms with torrential rain to-day and are apparently due for more of the same over the weekend....which is a bank holiday here.

Get well soon wishes for all those feeling under the weather

I think it is Hester as I just went to her profile and looked at her first post. She said she hadn't been around for a couple of weeks and had lost her login details. Esther x
