    Afternoon,
I was going out to Whitby or Staithes today but overslept and weather isn't so good, I'll just switch the trip to Monday/next week.

    Busy weekend anyhow.

Only mail that arrived today was an invite(I assume automatically mailed out)by Dr's surgery offering me my first health check because I fall into the age group where they feel I should have one(the idea of the Government by what I have heard on the radio in recent weeks)

For those who do not go to/see their Dr its probably a good idea but as I already have various health issues(already documented on my medical records)see a consultant every three-four months, bloods are checked, blood pressure is taken, see my Dr a couple of times a year(and he's kept informed by the Consultant)I eat lots of fruit and veg, drink very little alcohol(if at all)I have discussed lifestyle, whether I need statins, been checked on cholesterol, diabetes etc...I think that I can turn down the check up.

In fact I'll be seeing my Dr next week.

I doubt I could do much more...all the information should be in my files...

I suspect the surgery will probably receive a fee for every person who has a health assessment with them.

    Hi all!

Spent my evening last night weeding the garden and getting it back in shape. Most things are doing well, although the courgettes on the plant do not seem to be getting larger. There are plenty of blooms and two actual courgettes. Perhaps I should be more patient. The flowers are falling off the pepper plants, but I think this is all of the temperature changes and the heavy rains. Hoping the current ones will stay on. Something is nibbling the spinach--may give it a spray with the soapy water I'm using on the aphids and see if that helps.

Otherwise, things are quiet, just working and such.

Princess, I've just seen that I missed the birth. Congratulations!

Pops, perhaps ask your doctor if there is anything in the general health check that you aren't already screened for? There may be screenings not related to your current health problems that you can miss by not attending. I've just had an invite for a routine screening I'm due for. It isn't pleasant, but it is important. I shall bribe myself with ice cream or something similar and go along. I'll admit I'm squeamish, and don't enjoy attending the surgery for any reason. I also wish they would refer to these checks as "health maintenance" rather than "prevention" which implies I will inevitably succumb to whatever they are checking for. I know, it is silly, but the semantics only serve to make me more squeamish!

Kezlou, what a lovely break with lovely memories. I hope you all enjoy it.

Mrs. LW--I love reading about all of the lovely music you're hearing!

Right, I've finished mt coffee, so its back to work.

Someone I know stays at a caravan park in Blackpool often. I have been to that resort twice(a day trip)and a mon-fri stay. The last one was perhaps 8 years ago but since then having seen a documentary on TV it has really changed. So your Dad will see a big difference.

TBH Pops, the main focus of the TV series was the nightime economy and the impacts of unemployment, high depravation, extremely poor health and poor quality housing on the emergency services.

If you don't go into town at night, you could be anywhere - anywhere that has shops, beaches, a fab new Promenade, the Tower, the Winter Gardens (both being renovated), the Sandcastle, the Pleasure Beach, swanky new trams, landau taxis, donkeys, three Piers, the world's largest mirror ball...

Its a fair point I suppose FairyPrincessk, Lots I should be doing if I'm honest but just chilling. Did I really just use that term?

I love many types of music. I sometimes post something I like on a site called My Jam...thinking of Lyn's recent concerts my latest choice is a classical piece...Crown Imperial:Coronation March by Walton

    Lyn, glad your enjoying yourself.

Well what a change in the weather two days of nonstop rain. Now the sun is out and its blowing a gale. At least the washing is getting dry waving about in the wind.
We have done all the housework between us this morning well OH does more than me.So once the washing is in and ironed we are done.

Sat and Sun we are going to make some meals up and freeze them.
We have been given a sack of onions so we are going to make two large pots onion soup, then freeze in containers enough for lunch with crispy bread, that should give us a few meals
Does anyone have an other ideas to use the onions for I dont want them to waste them.
Also going to make large pot of mince up then we can have chill, spaghetti bol, shephards pie or lasagne. Got some lovely mince from the butcher. Plus a few other meals

We are going to bake a few cakes and rolls to freeze also then if I am having a few bad days we only have to take the meal out of the freezer and heat.

Can anyone let me know what other meals I can make up and freeze so its easier on the OH, he been very tired lately and I think he over doing it with doing every thing for me over the last few months I have to keep reminding him hes 67 not 27 lol.

    Thank you in advance.

Denise, if no one suggests any other ideas, onions can be chopped and frozen, it is then easy to just pull out a few when you need them. I used to do this when I lived alone.

What about making some pie fillings like chicken and veg, beef and ale, chicken and leek etc. Then you can either buy or freeze raw pastry that can be put on and baked all at once.

Hi everyone :) catching up as usual:) I was so impressed with the comments about Kelp that I wrote all my medications down on paper, and my dh took it to the local pharmacy to ask if it would be okay to go on the Kelp tablets. She said fine to do so, so went into Holland and Barrett on Tuesday of this week and bought a jar. They were £5.99 and for a penny more you could have another jar.:) I will let you know how I do on them. I am so pleased to read of how well some of the ladies have been since taking them.
Terrible rain recently here but dry at moment. My blueberries are changing colour now and am so excited. Bought the wee tree for the patio last year so this is the first year of fruit and there are loads on it:) Plenty of strawberries too and that is the last of them picked now and we have had 3 pavlovas with them:) Peas are doing good too and also we got a lot of small potatoes. So enjoy growing our own stuff. Will def do it all again next time:) Margaret x oh oh here comes the thunder glad the wee dog has been walked:)
Do a little kindness every day.;)

Actually I hadn't meant my comments negatively(but see how they could be taken that way)the programme I saw was a one off and I only noticed the positive changes that had happened since I visited(and those people I mentioned who go quite regularly talk very highly of the resort. They are going again next monday...

POPS: I read your comment positively. Could be because I have been told that they have 'done Blackpool up' so expected that was what you meant. Don't worry about it. Esther
