Just had some very extreme weather here. Very scared actually.

It came over black then all of a sudden all the windows and patio doors shot back on their hinges. I ran round to shut them all and found everything on my window sills had been blown across the rooms.

All calm now, lasted minutes but wondering what the heck it was!

It was a little tornado - Seen a pic on twitter of it.
  • Hello everyone. Just had the time to log in and catch up with all your news. We've had another two lovely sunny days but the light breeze which kept it feeling fresh is now turning into a strong wind. Nothing as severe as you described fuddle.

The process of emptying my old bedroom drawers and putting new ones into position has turned into a backbreaking clear out of bedroom. I now struggle to get to the front door. Why do I keep so much rubbish I ask myself?:eek::eek:

I've made my first order from A&&roved F**ds this week and am looking forward to receiving it on Monday. Not happy that I might have to stay in all day though. Glad they did not say Tuesday as am going on day trip to York then. Its one of my favourite places. Hope the weather is kind. :)

Now will have to get back to sorting rubbish. Hope you all have a good night.

Lemon curd cake for Esther - I found it earlier whilst wandering so nipped back and copied it for you xxx

    100g margarine
    75g caster sugar
    2 eggs
    175g self-raising flour
    1 jar lemon curd(smartprice/value is fine )
    1 level teaspoon baking powder

    Method

    1. Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade. Grease a 2lb loaf tin

    2. Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix together for about 5 minutes

    3. Pour the cake mixture into the prepared tin level the top.

    4. Bake for approximately 40 minutes until browned.

This cake gets moister the longer you leave it, if you can!!!

I have done a version using cocoa and marmalade as a chocolate orange cake too

AOT approved foods use tracking on their deliveries so you will find out roughly when its coming - usually a one hour window and mine was right on time the other day, hope this helps

Bless you Ginny. That's so kind. Thank you.

I have to say that I have been loving this weather and have been neglecting the house in order to sit out and enjoy it while I can. It's gone a bit cool and windy though now. Esther x

Well, I had bills to pay:mad:and wanted to cover the utility bills and avoid an overdraft. Never had one in my life. Not planning on starting now. Just use the bank to pay bills. Saving is out.

Only streets away but had to sit on a bench, rest on a shopping trolley and still had to struggle home. I took straight to my bed for a rest. I was hot by the time I reached home.

I came home with salad/fruit, it seemed quite expensive to me but as long as possible I will try to eat the best that I am able and I will make it last as long as I can.

Been eating fruit/salad till it comes out of my ears, my only slight treat today was a small cider.

I will have a think what to put up for my days out tomorrow/sunday, lets hope for pleasant weather if not scorching heat whatever we are doing for leisure or working.

    Evening all

Fuddle - that weather sounds scary!

Shegar - glad the kelp are still doing their stuff for you.

Not so hot here today, still humid but not scorching hot. Was still showing as 32 degrees in my bedroom at 1am. We gave up trying to sleep at 5am and just got up and on with the day (much to the cats disgust ). Fluffy kitten is eating us out of house and home and is purryer than ever before. Fluffy elder cat brought us home a large gold fish the other evening, it was still gulping for air but was to far gone to put back into water, he was very pleased with himself (the cat that is).

Managed to get to a local hotels pool this morning, DH hasn't felt confident enough to get in the water since his accident 4 years ago (fair enough when your legs don't work and one arm is pretty useless) but his physio has been on at him to at least try it. Both DDs came along to help and he managed a good 20 mins in the water before a relax in the sauna. He then came home and slept for 5 hours but hey, it's a huge step forward for him. He's even hinting about going again over the weekend. It was blissfully cool in the pool, they had the doors open (hotel is 30yrds from the harbour front), the sea breeze was gorgeous and the thunder and lightening, pouring rain and hail storm just made it a surreal experience.

Talking of summer, I've just finished buying the bits I needed for my winter wardrobe....nothing like buying out of season for some absolute bargains. For £42 (inc postage)I've got 3 new pairs of trousers, 4 jumpers and a body warmer. I do love fleabay.

On the hottest day yesterday I was ok but at 1am like Pooky it was too uncomfortable and I had to throw the bedroom window open...I had no bedding on too.

No doubt it will be different come winter.

Lol, I've just bought 6 pairs of wool mix thermal overknee socks and a thermal under-top for £17 delivered + TCB from M&S outlet (they had 2 codes stacking on thermals), and am flirting with getting some snow boots (can find them in my titchy size for about £14 now).

I am very aware this sun won't last forever!
