twofishes it's difficult to even run a household when you're the only one with OS inclinations but after 4 years I reckon DH is 98% converted. ;)

It is difficult but as it's temporary I would allow the parentals to just spend as they normally would, enjoy having food in the cupboards that you haven't paid for but enjoy using that food in your own OS way.

    Morning everyone :)

Completely and utterly fallen out of love with tea! It's been happening for a while and I'm ashamed to admit it that I type to you with a cup of coffee. It is said to be high in antioxidants so I'm looking at the health side.. honestly

Speaking of which, I ordered kelp for DH and I last night. I think DH will be of the most benefit but upon reading of thyroids last night and that difficulties can be hereditary (my aunty had a thyroidectomy due to hyperthyroidism) and my very poor metabolism, I thought it worth a try for me too. Really interesting to read that thryroid imbalances effect anxiety too. Worth a try.

About to go get to grips with the dust in my living room. Girls having crumpets for breakfast :)

    Morning All,
Catch up time for me...MSE forum came on line quicker than I thought it would.

Quickly about the Airshow and trip to Bridlington(I hope my views on my blog did not upset those who live at that seaide resort)I liked it but 4-5 hours isn't long enough to see/judge a place and not when who you are with a group that go into shops, eat a meal, pop into a cafe for tea...it leaves little time to see much.

If alone I would have made use of my time and take in the place. If hungry eat sandwiches and take a bottle of water.

The Airshow was great, wish I'd gone back on the second day or to the bike event on Sunday but the welcome rainfall over night put me off(thinking events may be washed out/cancelled/affected but they went ahead and it was too late then to attempt to go.

A lot of the airshow is on line at You Tube(images too)I have links on my blog and you can see it better than I probably did. But you need to save time by jumping through the videos to avoid the bits where nothing was happening.

It was also broadcast with a live feed too so anyone could watch so I did see some of what happened on Sunday.

In reality perhaps it was better that I did not go again as I have been tired since. But it was worth the effort though.

The £5 ticket that allows many visits over a year and to a few places mentioned is happening much more especially in county Durham but there are probably similar schemes nationwide...

Nothing planned until the coming weekend unless I suddenly decide to go somewhere.

Its raining so a day at home...

So I shall rest and I may try and do something special for my meals today and use some of what I have in my food store.

Thanks fuddle - will try to convince them to get more actual ingredients in since I hate having to live off processed food! Chicken kiev is fine occasionally but I'd rather make a curry or soup. Ahh well, my housemates from September both enjoy cooking (and one is lactose-intolerant so need to be creative with food) so looking forward to that.

Went to a sale of poultry in ds village with dgd, ds and ddil and had a lovely time!Lots of rare breeds, from 6 wks to pol plus the gorgeous cockerels. However ds banned me from buying any! Dgd sidled up and whispered that If I got a couple she wouldn't tell her dad and he would never know!
When we got back to their home he did suggest that he came over and built me a larger run for the girls,so watch this space for a small flock increase he he!

twofishes - are you paying towards food? or are they fully supporting you?
As a parent of an 18 year old she eats what we give her as we pay for her entirely. And I wouldnt take kindly to her announcing she wants me to change to suit her - sorry that sounds harsh.
Maybe you could ask for one night a week when you will cook for them and then give them a list of things you need to be bought in order to cook - if you offer to cook for them I am sure they would be happy.
If they are fully supporting you maybe you could offer to take over the shopping and cooking as your way of contributing?

Its not much help I know - my parents are the same its all processed stuff and I cant stomach it any more.

We are having a bad day here, DS15 is refusing to co-operate yet again, and after I sat him down to explain that we expect him to do certain things to earn internet time he flipped out, the end result was my removing all his electric stuff from his room so he attacked me. :(

I am so sorry about the attack on you and hope he realises after a while what he has done and can apologise and mean it. You should be due some really good luck by now and hope something nice happens soon as you deserve it.

Kidcat - at the moment I'm tending to buy my own stuff (excepting bread, milk etc) because there's just nothing to cook with in the house. Nobody likes the same food so they all just cook their own meals, sometimes my dad will do a roast and we'll all have that but generally everyone just cooks for themselves - we never sit down to eat together. The problem is that I'm waiting to hear back about my uni hearing so I don't know how long I'll be here - but oh well, will make the best of it. I should clarify that I wouldn't expect them to buy all new food just for me!

twofishes - I would just say that you should suit yourself, make yourself what you like and let them do their own thing - as long as you are happy with what you are eating they will either learn by watching or they may never get it. But if you cook all your own stuff you will feel better for eating well, its hard watching people make what we consider to be wrong choices but as they are adults you are stuck with it :)
