congratulations princess:j. Ruby is a lovely name. She was born on my wedding anniversary.

Mrs LW the concert sounds amazing and you must have been so proud. Pushkin kitten is lovely

GQ I am interested in the kelp debate. I have a very low level of vitamin D and take a strong suplement. I have also had an overactive thyroid which corrected itself but the GP said it will probably become underactive. There is also underactive thyroid in my family

    Sheila well done to Rosie:T

fuddle if you do go to Beamish I would go early on as we went on Christmas Eve and all the decorations (especially the floral ones) looked past their best.

ginny glad you had a good holiday and well done with the smoking:T

AOT glad the funeral went well

stiltwalker glad you had a good week end at your parents

nutty sounds like you had a great day in London

i am determined to start and continue meal planning and have spent all afternoon looking through recipes to give us a bit of variation.

MrsLW - he is gorgeous and looks so happy too :)
  • Have just lost long post again.:mad::mad:

Thanks for the info about Beamish. I will have to get myself organised and check out bus timetable as would love to visit again. :)

Had an interesting weekend, beginning before 9 a.m. yesterday morning on the beach helping with a 'Flash Labyrinth' organised by the local churches. Was a lovely day for it. Actually building it was very hard work though - not that I did much I have to admit.:rotfl:

The flyovers from Sunderland Air show have been spectacular. Hope you got there Pops.

Realised mid afternoon that had taken nothing out of the freezer for today.:eek: Luckily after a scrounge thru cupboards and fridge I managed to make a tasty tomato and lentil soup with plenty left over for tomorrow. Problem will be remembering what I did for another time.:rotfl:

    Lovely photo MrsLW.
    And Happy Anniversary Fuddle.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Can't remember kidcat - but think now they test both or just the stored iron?
Good Shegar, it's horrible to think we spent years and years as slugs when we could've been much better. I still have to be careful though, if I had one active busy day then I make sure to have a quieter one after it.

Yes the word slug didnt cover it.......I cant remember all the tests that the dr had done on me, but I know they did take 5 bottles of blood at the same time and only thing came back was low on vit D.............

When you get tired then with me everything else in my body gets affected one way or tuther, that makes me feel dreadful and the more sleep I had the more I wanted and the more tired I was , just seems like a vicious circle ..........But thankfully thats all changed now..........

Sea kelp seems to do something for the tiredness and lethargy , ive never had thyroid problems.............

Yes I do get tired by the end of the day , but then everyone gets tired at some point of the day..........

When I went to town last week I walked 3 times further that day than id ever done , didnt think anything of it, if I was like my old normal self , no way would I have done that , a quarter of that and I wouldnt have moved rest part of the day..........

Well all we got from the rain last night was about 2 watering cans in each water butt,....It only rained about half hour and I had to go out and water the garden tonight......Might as well live in the Sahara , for the amount of rain fall we get here , they get more rain than we do, plus its been very warm and sunny all day today again..............

    Sheila..

Happy anniversary, fuddle, hope you enjoyed your adult-only meal! :)

We went to the local beer fest late this afternoon, few showers, but warm, tents a-plenty, fab beer (even some I liked, and I'm not a beer drinker), really good burgers and hot dogs (local butcher), and a live band, so a good time was had by all.

Glad to hear all the positive comments about kelp, have been taking it for a couple of weeks, not sure if it's working yet, but will carry on and see - being less busy cos it's the hols is helping no end, so hard to tell.

    A xo

Ill remember that about the beamish Christmas decorations, thank you.

Lyn, so pleased to read of your proud mummy moment. I can only imagine the pride you felt and the actual sound you heard. Something spectacular to remember forever. Pleased you could pop in to say hi! I bought frozen chicken tonight £4.99 for 1kg - a lot more for my money than fresh. I hope it ok.

I used my supermarket tonight. So surprised at how effective it is to shave off the £'s I saved £3.26 from the next supermarket as a whole £15 from the most expensive. It popped up to multi-buys and swap for a cheaper alternative. Ill be using it again, especially now the children are with me... I can't shop like I do (full concentration/taking my time/comparing) with them with me. It will be stressful and cost me more money! Delivery it is for the next 6 weeks.

Still not sure whether to switch to butchers, worried ill go over my budget.

DH has cooked up a batch of ginger bread with the girls. Really nice biscuits but the mess! Never mind eh? They had fun.

Sat with a couple of candles on tonight. Nights are drawing in very quickly.

Someone else who's not posted for ages. Just wanted to say my potato plant's stalk started to go yellow and floppy so I tipped the pot over and harvested about 30 new potatoes! Didn't see any flowers though. They are scrummy!!
Went to Chatsworth Hall yesterday to see my choir sing, they were dressed in Georgian Style clothes (think Jane Austin). It was a fab day.
    Regards to everyone.

    MM

D'you mean Chatsworth House by any chance - the Duke and Duchess are *almost* my next door neighbours LOL
DS's mate works in the tea room there and was seen on the documentary. There is a farm shop - the prices are

I have been in the house once.

Congrats on the baby girl - I know a Ruby with stunning blue eyes. Hope yours has stunning eyes too!

I am Flylady-in-charge this week so I have people to boss *cracks whip*

Today I have dug up one potato plant - to find small, but perfectly formed tatties. Picked a few more strawberries, Caught 5 runners in pots. I need more pots - I'm planning on rooting 50 plants and chucking all my old ones. I have picked the last of the currants - 4th harvest! and made MORE jam - nyom!

I'm now almost in the postion of having more full jars than empties! Woot!

Oh and I have listed a few items on fleabay!

Hi everyone, I joined last year I think when I started uni but stopped posting due to health problems. I'm at my parents' for the holidays waiting to hear back if I can redo my first year of uni (which I failed due to the health problems). I spend to make myself feel better which is the opposite of OS or even MSE so I want to get back on track. Parents are not very OS so while they buy the groceries etc it's difficult to be the OS/MSE person in a non-thrifty household! Really want to be back at uni buying charity shop clothes and making lentil soup - sounds daft but thrift makes me happy for some reason!

Any tips on being a thrifty person in a house full of non-thrifty people would be great.
