Our storm was amazing, lightening started around 11pm but it really kicked off at 2am and was full on until 4am until it calmed down a bit, it's been rumbling all day. So much rain and hail too!

DD1 caught some stunning lightening photos, she's very pleased and has her tripod all set up again for tonight just incase.

Very muggy and humid here all day, my cold is full on so my temperature is all over the show so I'm not sure if I'm hot or cold.

Starting up here again now :)
  • Oh bother! My bread has come out of the breadmaker having sunk instead of risen.:eek::eek: Its the first time this has happened and don't know what I did wrong. Will still have to use it - can't afford to waste the ingredients. Looks like will be making bread and butter pudding tomorrow.:T:T As well as breadcrumbs.

    Hope everyone sleeps well tonight.

    hello all

I am having to thank all your posts because the forum thing is taking me to the last post and not the last read.

Been to work again to tidy and did an errand in town on the way back, after which the heavens opened. Back garden has gone from parched to flooded  We too have had thunder and lightning!

Have another (minor) issue at work - I seem to be expected to do the same 'additional' tasks that full time staff are doing but I'm only 60%! An email has been sent...

Fuddle - glad you are a bit better.

Re the Archers - I thought you all meant this Archers_Aqua.jpg

which I've never had and I was going to ask if it's nice!

AOT try fresh yeast. When I suddenly get a sunken loaf after all the others have been fine it's always a sign I need fresh yeast. I never get through a whole pack of Dove's yeast before it goes off so now I keep half in the freezer when I open a new packet.

That or, ahem, I've forgotten to put the paddle in
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Re photos in the first few day - DD did nothing but feed so on almost every single photo she is attached to one or other boob!! I made DH delete loads of them as I got fed up of scrolling through loads of pictures of a k-nackered looking me with a boob out just to see pics of her when she was tiny!! lol

AOT - glad the tax office are being reasonable :D

Big step today - DS's cot has been dismantled and he is spending his first night in a big boy bed! Can see him ending up in his sister's bed (they share) or pootling through to us in the middle of the night but it has to be done as he was bursting out of the cot. We decided it was best to do it now while DD's on holiday and not having to get up for nursery or school. Hopefully he'll be an expert at sleeping in his bed by September as I'm not sure what plan B is!!!!

We've had the most monumental thunder and lightening and rain this evening! I'm guessing that the back lane out of the village is flooded now (it floods at the drop of a hat, or half a dozen small raindrops!) and I'm also guessing that some muppet will have taken a look and decided that they can make it through in their car and they will have conked out part way through as it invariably happens. Must check FB as there are always photos posted. I have even known big 4x4's get stuck, that's how bad it is, they closed the road and did flood works last year, 3 weeks after it reopened it flooded again for the first time! The funniest though was the FB pictures of the JCB diggers up to their wheel arches in flood water a week after the work started!

Right off to sort tea and shout DH out of the bath - catch uou all later - hugs X

Can I ask when is it likely to see runners on strawbs? Now my dog has eaten my crop I'm wanting to concentrate on getting more plants from it. No sign of runners on mine as yet.

Thought of you tonight Sheila. My tea towel smelt awful even after washing. I bleached it and now it no longer smells iffy and is no longer black, more orange. Haha never mind at least I can use it. Job sorted.

Good luck stilts. Very exciting time as a mummy :D tell us about DS's first night tomorrow won't you. Will DD mind if he shares her bed?

fuddle - I have ignored and neglected my strawberry plants and they have produced huge amounts of fruit this year, I ignored the runners, and we dragged them out of the ground and into pots when we did the garden - they still survived. So I wouldnt worry about watching for the runners, they will do their own thing and be fine next year. :)

Have just finished the teachers gifts marathon and I swear I have to find a better plan next year, making so many gifts for one day is ridiculous, they each ended up with a small jar of sweets, flannel rabbit and a cupcake.
