Will keep fingers x'd for you that no one goes sick fuddle. I rather like filled pasta and sauce from a jar now and then, not to mention bread and jam
(((HUGS))) pooky and nuttyp, sorry things are so manic atm.
Took the cat to the vet today as he's been eating a lot more the past few months. As I feared, he has an overactive thyroid and will need medication permanently. There's a new gel that can be rubbed into his ear, rather than fighting to try to get him to swallow tablets (never managed that yet with this particular cat!) but it will cost about £47 a month
He could have an injection of radioactive iodine instead, which would probably cure him, but that would involve being in the vetinary hosp for 3 - 6 weeks, and I daren't think what that would cost
We are very fond of him, he's a lovely boy, but we didn't actually choose to have him; he determinedly moved himself in with us a few years ago, and he has already cost us far more in vet's fees than all our previous cats put together!0 -
He moved in because he'd heard of the great medical benefits to living with you Ivyleaf!
Nutty, you shouldn't get a warning for that. There's no telling how it happened and it might well turn back up yet. Wish I had homebase here, need a lot of paint!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
FUDDLE you don't have to be superwoman love, you're fine just as you are. We all cut corners when we have to, we'd not be telling the whole truth if we claimed that everything was 100% OS 100% of the time, it's wonderful in theory but don't you find that real life quite often gets in the way of what is theoretically possible? I know I do. Bread and Jam is food of the Gods, we have it when we've been specially good, well done those Fuddlettes!!!0

Morning all
Oh Fuds - I could just do with a slice of fresh bread and jam - yum!
Possession - How's the settling in going?
Kidkat - Hope you're ok x
Achieved lots yesterday - all meals for the rest of the week are in the fridge and ready to heat up/ping/finish in the oven - not that they'd have starved but it's used up stuff that needed using rather than them fishing stuff out the freezer and neglecting the fresh stuff.
Just going to pack my ruck sack with food and drink for the day and lots of bits for Mum to look at and fiddle with - she's not up to knitting or crocheting yet but I took a bag of patchwork pieces in on Sunday and she enjoyed matching colours and laying them all out - have some different shapes made up somewhere so will take those in - also have some granny squares crocheted so will take those in for her to arrange for me.....I also took in some pretty papers which she loved folding - she's not one to sit still and loved her crafts, hope that love returns.
Noticed the bracket for the soil pipe has broken so have organised someone to come fix that tomorrow - he's going to clean out the gutters and clean all the fascias, soffits and windows too. Another job I can tick off the list.
Hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Am having a better day today so will post while I'm still in what loosely passes for my right mind.
Am sitting here looking at the wreck of my study which is still piled up with the remnants of Christmas and all the things from last year's move that have not found a permanent home yet. I so hate the muddle but don't feel too much like tackling it yet. Will have to dig out my trusty kitchen timer and do it Flylady style - 15 minutes at a time.
Nutty: Our house is all painted in shades of white and cream and sage green. They were the colours I chose when they asked us what we wanted. It all looks fresh and clean and vaguely vintage - just what I was aiming for.
Lyn and Maggie: OK! I get the message and am sufficiently cowed to take it easy. Heaven forfend that I should get the wrong side of you two.
Fuddle: Oooooh! Freshly baked bread and jam, nectar of the gods. I can't remember who got back into eating with tinned fruit cocktail and icecream but that is exactly what I wanted when I started to rejoin the human race again. Of course I had nothing like that in my storecupboard as we've been on a healthy eating project for ages - you can see how much good it has done us - the nearest thing I could find was sugar-free jelly. As soon as the Rev felt well enough to venture out she supplied the icecream but I am still awaiting the tinned fruit.
Ivyleaf: No cat moves in unless they have sussed out potential benefits first. I have had cats for 73 of my years and can say, hand on heart, that I have never chosen any of them. They have all arrived unannounced, unheralded and unencouraged. They have all broken my heart when they finally shuffled off this mortal coil and every time it has been "Never Again," I have kept to that for the last couple of years but it has not been easy.
Well, I have had the most exciting phone conversation with one of our Indian friends. We went to India with them in 2008 and met all their family. Their son has just become engaged to an suitable Indian girl and we are expected at the wedding in India next January. No negative answer will be tolerated apparently! This is all very well but there is a small matter of money to be considered and, much as I love them dearly, the thought of a 12 hour flight followed by a 7/8 hour journey on an Indian train fills me with dread. We've done it before and it was definitely one of those "Never Again," moments.
Still, lots of time before next January.

Take it easy Monnagran.
Am still here but super busy. Have just given away the fridge that was left here and the 2 blokes that picked it up were decidedly dodgy looking.Am about as unpacked as I can be without places to put away the stuff. About 4 rooms are semi-painted. My brain is rather frazzled.0 -

All i can say is    I could cope with the flight, i expect, but not following straight on with a very long jolting bus journey. So lovely of them to invite you though
It was me who mentioned the tinned fruit cocktail and ice cream. Glad the Rev got you the latter, at any rate.
Mr ivyleaf has been going through the boxes from the understairs cupboard which had been taken out when the gas leak was being sorted out. There was a box with some of DS's car stuff in it (a bottle of oil, that sort of thing) and there was a bottle of anti-freeze which for some reason had no lid - perhaps it had degraded or something. Anyhow, Mr ivyleaf picked it up to take it out of the living room, it slipped through his fingers and....I shall draw a veil. Suffice to say that the rug is on the washing line in the hope that the fumes will evaporate, and the carpet has had a good dousing with Vanish carpet spray.....
In other news, DCat has had his first dose of thyroid medicine. It's really easy, you put the measured dose on the back of a little spoon and rub it gently onto the inside of his ear. he didn't mind it at all, especially as he quite likes having his ears rubbed! It will take slightly longer to be absorbed than a tablet, but he should soon be back to his old self. It's expensive, but we'll just have to be philosophical and offset the cost against the food he won't be constantly pestering for.0 -
It is a bit of a long trip Monnagran, but what an event! Would love to see a full Indian wedding
Little problem the peeps here might be able to help with: I've been found to be allergic to my brasAm on steroids and told to avoid them. Doc thinks it's elastic *and* the nickle from the underwire. The issue is, I can't find any latex free and nickle free bras in a 34-36 F :rotfl: Not sure what to do next, a brief googling has not been my friend (pretty busy painting). I'm presently wearing a cotton vest under and am hoping not to have to run for any reason

Softstuff, are you sure it's the bras? You have been exposed to so many new things just lately it could be something in the cleaning products, etc. In my case, not wearing a bra would be a disaster! Hope you are ok.
Off to work, back later.0
