MONNA glad you made it out the other side of whatever the nasty bug was, you probably won't have any choice in this but, take your time getting back in harness my friend, and listen when your body says Oi SIT!!! do not override and keep going or I shall have no choice but to come and er???oh yes RESCUE you from yourself and you wouldn't like that at all, believe me, people stay rescued for quite a long time (in shock too I'm told) when Lyn mounts a rescue expedition!!! Look after yourself, don't worry about not having an appetite, it will kick back in on its own and take it easy, we can fix you but not if you don't rest up!!!
We didn't get our meet up on Saturday as there was other poorliness in the camp so Nell and I went in and had a nice day but it would have been more fun if we could all have made it. We'll try again when you are all 100% and shipshape and can face an expedition to the swedish shop!0 -
So glad you're slowly emerging out the other side of whatever it was, monnagran
As Lyn says, take things really gently.
When I had no appetite after a virus the thing that got me eating again was tinned fruit salad and ice cream.
Glad MRI was okay softstuff!0 -
I once moved into a house where they had an elderly and incontinent dog, said dog had slept upstairs in the bedroom, we removed 3 layers of sodden bedroom carpet plus one layer of underlay. The floorboards were also soaked & they stank, we had to remove a block 3 ft by 4 ft to get rid of the smell!

Possession, I could lend you my mother in law for the oven.
I have this lovely picture of Softstuff's MIL, all trussed and oven ready, being shipped off to Possession.
:rotfl: That's not quite what I meant, but I appreciate the chuckle. Glad you're feeling a bit better. Other peoples grot makes me a bit more eager to clean for sure, other peoples moving stories reassure me it's not just me. A couple of people here have said how clean their house was when they moved in and I was fairly jealous.
Am fast running out of money all round in any case. There were (as always) a few unforseen things with the kitchen and bathroom reno (including the hot water valve taking that opportunity to die). I think I can still get everything done in there with the money we have, but there won't be a cent left for the house until the flat is sold (thankfully there's no floorboards to come up like Hester ).
Now somehow need to get rid of a large cubby house in the back yard here...Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Welcome back Monna. Now take it easy for a while or I will come and Join Lyn in rescuing you. I have been told by six foot six male patients I am a big bully.I should not worry about eating there are advantages like no cooking and no washing up.
I won't tell any tales of grot and moving it only reminds me that we are looking at moving again. I have decided that the housing association that seems to have all the flats in the areas we would like are not only the most expensive but are the most inefficient and are extremely rude to everyone who dares to wait for them to answer the phone. They are costing me about £17 a week in waiting on the phone.
Afraid we did not get to Chinatown in Manchester DS knee is still very painful. He still can't walk. Does anyone know how to make a man go to see a Doctor?0 -
Forklift truck Nursemaggie ?
Sorry to make light but nothing constructive to add, I've always found men a funny breed - either they will go for everything and drive you mad by calling the doc for everything (ex- hubby, note the ex, not the only reason, by far, but one in the long list of reasons!) or they will need prodding and pushing into going for something which is causing actual real pain (more like both hubby and, if I'm honest, me).
Hope all ok - glad to hear Monna is getting a bit better, looking forward to getting 'our' monna back, miss your daily tales of all sorts of amusing.
Take care all - Hx0 -

Morning all
Hope the sun is shining where ever you may be...it is here, got the back door flung open letting in a good deal of proper fresh coastal air. A couple of loads of washing are on the line already and another is just finishing in the machine.
It's been ruddy hard work trying to keep up with the housework whilst off to London every other day - DD's have been fab at the basics - loading/unloading the DW, putting the hoover round, doing the odd load of washing and hanging it on an airer, and I'm very grateful.....but it's not like when you can set to and clean yourself. I've been round with a damp cloth and damp dusted - could have sown potatoes in it, it was that thick, I've given the floors a good mop over, scrubbed the loos, changed the beds, wiped all the muddy paw prints off the kitchen chairs, window sills and windows and given the sink a good bleach.....I don't know how people who commute daily get anything done. It doesn't help that I'm so exhausted from my cold that's been lingering that when I get in at 9.30pm I just want to climb into bed and sleep for a week. I wasn't visiting yesterday or today but will be doing the next 3 days so I can see that Saturday won't be very productive.
Hey ho!
Got some fab YS bargains in Mr A yesterday - a huge bag of bananas (18 for 22p), a big bag of broccoli (5 heads for 20p) and a stonking great bag of vine tomatoes for £1.80 - broccoli has all been blanched all will be in the freezer when it's cool enough, the dodgier looking tomatoes have been chopped and added to all the other slightly bendy veg to be roasted later when the oven is on.....the bananas are mostly still green so will last a while yet. A friend also popped in with some eggs over the weekend so I've got 60 fresh eggs.....all the older ones I already had have been hard boiled for snacks and lunches and I'll make a couple pastry less quiche type things up later (when the oven is on) and freeze them down - great portable food for me to take for me evening meal at the hospital. The prices there are astronomical.
Going to crack on with some work for a couple of hours and then try and get out for a walk with DH - he's not coping to well with his new diagnosis, his Uni work and not being able to get to see Mum (the nearest tubes are not wheel chair friendly - not that he'd cope with the train journey very well either). I think we need a bit of "us" time."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Good morning all, its quite a nice day here and its fresh and sunny. Buddie was a little 1 year old sunday, he received a new toy for his birthday. He had his puppy class last night but was extremely naughty so hes not going up a class just yet. He decided he would bark at everyone and everything. He ended up in a naughty corner!! He is also being given 1 to 1 training, we need to curb his excessive barking and snapping.
Work was terrible last week, after doing a very busy late shift and then going straight into a morning shift I managed to loose £100. So I made the dreaded call to management, and they were ok. Obviously its never happened before and I hope never again. I now await the decision if I get an official warning.
Oh is now about to begin his cpc training course, when hes finished he will be able to drive the lorries at work and will be given £75 a week more, no brainer really as he will recoup the cost within 2 months.
I am on holiday all of next week so I got some emulsion at the weekend and im going to paint the kitchen sage green. I am after the country look, but there is nothing else new going in. a lick of paint and a tidy up will help.
If anyone is after paint homebase and selling 2 x 5litre emulsions on a buy one get one free basis. I got 2 different colours, so the hall and stairs can be don't later in the year. It worked out at just over £20 for the paint.
Time to get a move on, take care everyone. x

So pleased to read that you're feeling more chipper Monna but horrified to read how bad you were. Spring is edging closer so hopefully it will lift us all soon.
I bought a bread mix (oat and linseed) so waiting for it to rise a little more before putting it in the oven. My kiddies are looking forward to bread and jam for supper. Being threatened with bread and jam when I was a kid (paupers food apparently) it brings a secret smile to have my little ones somehow inadvertently thumbing their nose at my mother's parenting. Can't beat freshly baked bread and jam.
I'm not wonder woman by the way. I am completely shattered from work these past few days and have the on call phone tonight (please no one go on sick!) so we're having pre filled pasta mixed with a jar of tomato and basil sauce. I do what I can, what I like, keep my hand in etc but sometimes that means I have to cut corners.0
