Stilty - your relative would not have offered if they didn't want to help you out, so send them a lovely thank you note with a picture of little miss having fun, and enjoy all the happiness it will bring. And don't feel guilty, feel thankful for kind relatives.

    Exactly :)

Softstuff Thanks for explaining why you're having the work done on the flat :)

Squiggly Diddly You may remember my mentioning the Advent calendars I bought when I was "down your Way". Mine and DD's had a picture of a bookcase on them, and it turned out that each picture was a Christmassy/Wintry illustration from an old book (i.e. from lots of different books). Really gorgeous, and such good quality that we've both put our calendars away to bring out every year for the time being.

Stilty, what a lovely thing for your relative to have done for you. I'm a great believer in things going round, there will come a day when you will be able to help someone in need.

Re house moving, when we moved here we knew it was a state, but had other positives such as location, but even we were stunned when we noticed they'd let their dog mess in the bathroom.

We just turned round, went to the pub, and then came back to tackle it.

By the end of this entire moving job, I may book into rehab :o

Off for a comprehensive MRI for hubby today, neurologist has no idea, so the next thing is this. Fortunately thanks to a bit of travel and a relative working for a medical imaging company, it'll be free instead of $600. The blood tests that may come next will be dear, if the mri shows nothing (as we hope it will). Neurologist alone was $360. Could have had cheaper, in 6 months time, but the mental cost would have been much higher.

Spa day at least Softstuff :) Although you'll probably be desperate to start dealing with all the things that annoy you about the new place before you get used to them

Fingers crossed hubby's problem is something simple to solve when they eventually find out what it is. Often medics are so busy looking for the complicated answer they overlook the simple one until they've eliminated everything else. And TBH it's probably good to rule out the really nasty stuff that needs urgent treatment before looking for the alternatives.

Nothing to report on the MRI, thankfully (and thanks for the well wishes). Though an initial typo on the report did result in a rather hair raising moment for my MIL, who read it first (she works for the company).... it suggested he'd had a large stroke. MIL after a moments thought realised that he wouldn't be walking around with a result like that and queried it... turns out they'd missed "no" off the front of the thing they hadn't found!

Greenbee, I'm pretty sure that hubbys problem will prove to be "idiopathic" and/or "self-limiting". Most of the things he has seem to be such. I on the other hand have on one occasion caused an ultrasound technician to go running in panic for a second opinion, my things tend to be a bit more hair raising, permanent and painful :rotfl:

glad the MRI scan went well for your OH softstuff.

Nothing much to report here - quiet day, nice chat with a friend, have done 2 small and thrifty shops in 2 supermarkets to get us through til payday on Thursday. Few odds and ends indoors and nearly time to fetch the kids - where does the time go?

Possession, I could lend you my mother in law for the oven.

I have this lovely picture of Softstuff's MIL, all trussed and oven ready, being shipped off to Possession.

Well, I'm still here although there have been times in the past week when I wondered if I would make it through. It's no fun, this being ill, is it? I don't know what I had but I don't want it again. Ever. The hacking cough is still with me, I have the energy of a sloth and still don't fancy food but Hey! every cloud etc. I think I was delirious for a couple of days although the Rev says that she'd noticed no difference - still, a swift smack in the mouth soon sorted her out.

    So, onward and upward.

It snowed here this morning but didn't hang around too long and the sun is shining now. Having done nothing for about 10 days I hardly know where to begin but will probably opt for going back to bed. The good people here have been beating a path to the door and I have enough flowers, grapes and 'miracle' cough syrups to supply a whole ward of sufferers.

I think that is enough for the first day.

Good moving vibes for those who need them. Softstuff - I don't envy you, other people's grot is soooooo much grottier than your own.

Just popping in to say get well soon to all who are still suffering.

FuddleI always use lip salve on my nose at night when I have a cold it doesn't sting and really works.

Re the horrid stories on house moves - my SiL moved into a flat & they'd stored their coal in the bath!

Other people's grot is much more likely to make you clean than your own too :o

glad to hear you are on the mend. In case you hadn't noticed, you've been missed.
