Kittie....So sorry to hear of your loss and I echo what all the other posters have said, take care.......xxx
Silkvasaver...Lyn...Thats exactly what we do when we chainsaw our logs is put it in the hen run it helps soak up some rain water , trying to keep their feet dry so they carry on laying , ive been getting 37 to 42 eggs a day out of 44 hens so im well pleased with the hens , mind you I had some POL s October the 8 th and they have been laying all winter ........
Im off Friday for a weeks holiday , so ive made sure the hens are nice and clean for the neighbours to take over , done all the nesting boxes etc , go get some mash for them tomorrow after ive been and had my nuclear heart scan , the letter said utr takes up to 3 hours  , then I have to go back the week after and have another one also taking 3 hours.......The scan will show if there is any blockages.....
Anyone heard from Monnagran ? miss her posting too......Take care all Sheila.....My motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
Thank you for the welcome & job congratulations too - still at the "eek, what have I done stage..." (But excited too).
It will be great to work 10 minutes away from home & slightly more office-based; I find that with 45/60 mins drive each way, plus an ever-changing diary as to whether I'm in/out and where means things at home are sliding a bit... Need somehow to get routines a bit more organised, and also find some nibbly things I could keep in the car to avoid buying junk & eating on the run which is what happens. Also really need to shift some weight so that doesn't help me..!!
Condolences to Kittie.
Chickens, good luck with the tests/hospital & I agree, like Monnagrans posts too.
MrsL's life always sounds quite idyllic (even though I'm sure it isn't always!) and I often smile at Mardatha's need for sweeties in the middle of gale force wind and/or snowdrifts...
Right, must get moving as long & busy day ahead!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Not Idyllic but definitely worth living because it's mostly the way we've tailored it to be. We have the same vexations and worries as anyone else but we ARE content with our lot and we do have cause to be grateful for being just that. Our needs are few and mostly can be met but then we don't ask for much that isn't attainable, makes for a comfy peace of mind feeling. The only thing I can't do anything about is growing older, but nothing's fallen off yet and if we get a bit creaky (Oh yes, moving roof timber does that!) we're both retired and can take our time doing things until the creakiness wears off again. I guess we're not aquisitive so 'things' and 'status' have never been a factor in our lives, we're the 'scruffies' but always clean, though tidy is not something applied very often. It's maybe where you see yourselves in the great order of things but we know who we are and what we are and are quite content with it all!!!0

Hope your scan goes ok Sheila and have a wonderful holiday.
Thinking of you Pooky x
Waving hello to Cornishchick if you are reading. x
I was a busy bee yesterday - cleaned the top oven which was urrgghh, the main oven will be tackled another day, I don't use the powerful proprietary cleaners so a fair bit of elbow grease is required. Shifted another pile of stuff, mainly for recycling plus bits for charity shop and the bin. Usual meals, laundry etc of course.
Played footie with the boys until some older lads came onto the little hardstanding multisports area and just starting playing without as much as asking if we minding sharing. DS10 was very uncomfortable with them there and there wasn't room to play on "our half" and they were big lads compared to my 2 so we walked off. DS10 had hurt his leg before and it was late lunchtime so we wouldn't have been much longer but I did feel annoyed with myself for not saying something. I just didn't want any troubleand wasn't in an assertive mood. As we walked away DS10 commented on how rude they were not asking if we minded sharing the space and DS8 was not impressed that we had to leave our game. I do wonder how DS10 will fare in secondary school, going from a big fish in a tiny pond to a big secondary school. Their school is small for our area as well and he is a sensitive lad. I know every parent goes through all this stuff and he will be ok but I still worry of course.
right off to nag my 2 into getting dressed so we can hit town - dreaded haircuts day and then the fun stuff, library and caf!.
hugs a plenty, help yourselves0 -
Hope all goes well with your scans Sheila, and enjoy your break
We'll miss you!
Squiggly Diddly I forgot to say Hi yesterday! so pleased you've joined this thread. Congrats on the new job :T Scary at first but you'll soon settle into it
monnagran Hope you're ok, missing your posts!
We're back at home now, and all being well the gas should be turned back on this evening. In the meantime we're in the living room, with a heater on and an extra layer of clothes. I persuaded OH to buy a couple of vests yesterdayand I'm wearing a cable-knit wool hoodie as a top layer. it's soooo warm!
The bed at the hotel was wonderful, I really wanted to bring it home with me but thought they might miss it!0 -
Hi all.
I'm still here and just about alive. This is the first time I've had the computer on for a while. The Rev and I have picked up some awful lurgy that simply won't go away. First time I've been ill for at least 17 years. Rats!!!
