Candlelightx0 -
Thanks for all the posts about the varifocals , I live 58 mile round trip away from town , so I did think about specsavers but its a long drag , then parking , it would kiss goodbye to about 6 hours and parking charges and diesel and this past few weeks my eye sight isnt good at all, today we had wall to wall sunshine which yest its lovely , but I drove to see OH which is 64 mile round trip and by lunch time im squinting badly then the headaches follows and the stinging in the eyes, be so glad when the glasses arrive , should be next week sometime.......
Monnagran...Well you did all the right things when you moved in regarding the gas metre , its must have been a shock to have found out how much you had used in a short time , good job you kept eye on your bill because if you didnt you would have a bigger shock in store.....
I do read my metres about 4 times a year and then phone the readings through to see if im in credit then by how much, ive never had a shock over the utilities bills.......I pay via DD for elec and gas and it roughly works out at £71 per month @ £16 per week both gas and elec, im very pleased with that cos im never cold and nor is the house.......I do have my open fire which burns free wood , and I normally buy 6 hundred weight of large lump house coal @ £138...........That lasts me a year...
SDG31000.....I gave up caffeine last April , thank god I did , my water works are working properly now, I drink caffeine free diet coke , caffeine free nescafe which tastes lovely and yorkshire caffeine free , it was bad coming off the caffeine for the first 2 weeks then it all got easier for me , I dont miss or need the caffeine.......
Im off to bed got blinding headache and eyes ache , take care all SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
Evening all - back from our flying trip down Southshire for the funeral. It went as well as these things can do, I'm just glad that DH now has the closure he needs to move on. It was lovely to see FIL - he was a little confused but I got to spend some lovely time with him as lots of the others were busy milling around. I have always had a soft spot for him - he was a lovely man (and apparently spoke more to me in the first day we met than he had ever spoken to DH's previous girlfriends in total - and given that DH was 41 when we got together... well I'll leave the rest up to you). The last few time we've seen them since they moved it has all been so frantic that FIL has just really sat there so it was a delight to find today, with more time to sit together, that the old sweetie who charmed me is still very much in there, even if he is a little confused and needs things explaining more than once sometimes.
No-one fell out (in fact the boys, well my DH and his bruv) got on ok although SIL didn't really speak to us and looked fairly pie eyed when we left at 3!
Home safe now - DD opened her eyes long enough to smile at me and get hold of my necklace before going straight back to sleep. Both kids have been good for my parents even if DS did squirm like an octopus while they were trying to dress him for bed, but that's fairly normal!
Curry ordered and drink in hand - all is good with the world.
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and messages of support both public and private through this difficult time. You lot on here are a pretty amazing support , my lovely online family. It's worth reflecting that we all have our own opinions and our own lives but that ultimately we are a fantastic supportive little community who have a lot to give each other. There is also the old saying 'least said, soonest mended'. Love and hugs to each and everyone of you - Helen X0 -
So glad everything worked out with the funeral Helen. You both can start to grieve properly now.
What a lovely moment sharing with your fil, its the little things things that mean the most.
Lots of hugs and blessing coming from our household honey x0 -
Welcome back stiltwalker. Glad the funeral went as well as it could and you got to spend some time with your dear FIL. Hope your DH feels a little better now its over and he can get some closure.
Thank you for your closing comments, wise words indeed. Here's to our 'fantastic supportive little community' and long may we thrive.0 -
Shiela, that's a heck of a drive, no wonder you suffer from headaches chick. How your feeling better tomorrow.
Sdg ahhhhhhhh tea
Sq have to admit we had frozen pizza and wedges for tea, boy was it needed.
Well back from being out all day. Met my friend for a cuppa, completely terrifying but you got through it.
Med review went well, new anxiety pill to try, back in 14 days for check up.
Its supposed to be fast acting so we'll see.0 -
Glad you're home safe and the funeral went well Stiltwalker.Softstuff: Have tried to picture you using the toilet as a foot spa but unless your toilets are a different shape to ours you will have to stand up in it. And have very small feet.
He didn't deliver the toilet in the end, that and the sink is now in my friends shed. Which is fortunate, since he ripped out my kitchen yesterday (in the small flat we're still in). Though we have running water, we have no oven and hob, so we'll be eating out a bit (because it's also my birthday and our wedding anniversary in a couple of days, I have some discount vouchers and my mum sent a little cash saying "please go have a meal together"!).
Nuttyp, I'd be tempted to cut the vinyl into a shape and not bother with a frame at all.... something like this:

I like the "plaque" one. And now I've seen it, fancy it in my new house!
In any case, sorry for anyone I miss right now, I'm not of sound mind and am surrounded by a mess to dig out of!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I do like the look of those chalkboard stickers
I have been drooling over pictures of great ornate framed chalk boards though. I don't own any lovely frames as mine are all wood effect. I would like one someday.
This weekend will see the glue gun come out as I have to assist youngest with making a space explorer suit. It's for Tuesday for school. We were notified yesterday. It's not really fair is it? Anyway. No costume buying as I have brought a box from work, the chocolate box and it's plastic innards (for the buttons) and we'll set about assembling it and paper mache it with flour and water then emulsion white and let DD get creative with her buttons. Should be fun for both of us
I have plans to look at ancestry website later as I have found out you can use it for free this weekend. Hopefully I can add more to my family tree on my dad's side.
Update on the heating is we're still as we are really although the plumber has ok'd for us to use the water, we have to just make sure we turn off the valve when we're finished to stop it leaking. Basically it is leaking through a seal that it shouldn't leak from. The plumber won't touch it as it's a manufacturing fault so we have to wait for their engineers to come look at it. We're coping although we will be spending a lot of heating the house with 2 oil filled plug in radiators. :cool:0 -
Oh dear Fuddle, I do hope the engineers are able to come soon! At least it sounds as if the weather is going to be warming up back to where it's meant to be at this time of year, so that's something at least.
Stilty Glad you're safely back and that it went as well as these things can, and that you were able to have a chat with your FIL x
SDG Glad you're on the mend :T
SQ I hope you soon will be as well!
Mardatha Glad to see you posting, I was a bit worried as it's not like you to be quiet for so long (meant in the nicest possible way) but didn't want to be going "Where's mar, is she okay?" and perhaps make you feel you had to post when not feeling up to it.
chickens Hope you've had a good night's rest x
monnagran Thank for your post which made me smile, as always!
Although it was very cold in the wind here yesterday it was a beautiful day, and it was exciting to see how long it stayed light. Spring's on the way and the daffs are coming up :j0 -
I was just in hibernation mode and busy in my spooky forums, thanks Ivy!
We had minus 4 earlier but will be up a bit now, sun is beaming down and the snow is melting very slowly. We have snowdrops out there somewhere under the snow lol0
