I hope it's good news today Pooky.

I have cleaned my oven twice. I'm going to take the rest of the year off now.

I'm just watching a new oven going into our old flat Possession, it's not going to be used by me.

Incidentally, to anyone in need of this, my cabinet maker friend informed me that the yellowing on the edge of laminated kitchen cabinets can be removed with a two step process. You rub it down with "Gumption" (a cream cleanser, not sure if it's available in England), then you give it a light sanding with a very fine sandpaper. At this rate my very old kitchen cupboards are coming up like new.

I hope there's good news with your Mum Pooky x.

Anyhoo... a number of cabinets need my attention forthwith. All being well final inspection of our new house is this morning, then settlement should be this afternoon.

Love to anyone else I missed.

I remember buying "Gumption" in the 1970s! I don't think you can buy it here any more but I expect Cif cream cleaner is similar.
  • Morning Toughies, waiting for He Who Knows and the hound to come back then off to the station for stint No 2 of babysitting. Ezra's a bit poorly at the moment with a temperature and not a happy chappie but that can change from morning to evening so I'll see how he is when I arrive. Hoping to get a late afternoon train home on Wednesday and then if nothing else crops up a few weeks of business as normal will be very nice indeed. Chat when I'm back, look after yourselves, Lyn xxx.

I have plans to look at ancestry website later as I have found out you can use it for free this weekend. Hopefully I can add more to my family tree on my dad's side.

Fuddle - since taking early retirement due to RA, I have been studying to become a genealogist and have subscriptions to most of the major websites. If you need any help with your tree I'm happy to do 'look-ups' for you. :) (And any other lovely OS'ers of course - but don't all rush at once!).
I have gained so much knowledge from you all over the years - I lurk but don't post very often so this is my chance to repay you!

morning all, I have a very busy day planned. So far ive done all the housework, and sorted out our puppy. Got to go to DD house and see to her doggy too as she is away on a training course and his daddy is at work. He Is a baby too, but I will take him for a quick walk, give him some food and make sure everything is ok. Then I am going to work until 1030pm tonight, oh I forgot got to take mums hoover into the next town for a new belt to be out on. It is only 3.50 and they will return it to mums house later on as they live in the next village, what excellent customer care to the everyone.
OH is doing a new run in Peterborough. Not somewhere he knows but he has reported in that it is going well so far. He has managed to find all the delivery addresses so far. He spent all day yesterday worrying about it.
Softstuff well done with the cupboard doors, I should really give my kitchen a good clean and then repaint it. It hasn't been done in over 5 years!!! All I fancy doing is a quick emulsion of the walls in another colour, maybe a stone colour or a sage green colour.
Possession have you got a final moving date yet, I hope the packing is going well. when our DD was moving she listed loads on facebook and ebay selling pages. She made quite a bit really and it saved lugging around unwanted items.

Well must go pack my lunch, take care all x

Ivyleaf, "gumption" is a much thicker paste than cif and the like, it seems far more effective than anything like that I've tried (since my kitchen has been regularly cleaned, even with scourers, but it hasn't come up as well as with this stuff). I'm such a convert I imagine cleaning all kinds of things with it.

Anyhoo, news, we've settled, we have the keys, we're house owners! :j

And come tomorrow, I'll have 2 homes, but not a single fully functioning bathroom :rotfl: The bathroom here in the flat is being ripped out tomorrow. I meanwhile am having a nice day out for my birthday, so !!!!!! the lot of it.

Nutty, this kitchen is about 15 years old, but with "gumption", fine sandpaper, a new worktop and a lot of elbow grease, it'll look damn near new.

    Congratulations Softstuff. And happy birthday!

I've been without a shower since I moved in nearly 18 months ago. I'm hoping to have one fitted by summer...
