So sorry to hear about your mum Pooky you are all in my thoughts. Hope the journey to London is OK.
Sheila thermal vests are nice and thin so I can move OK. I would just like to be warm. I just do not want another winter in this inadequate heating. Hope you feel better for a good nights sleep. I am always glad when I can take a few layers off. When the spring comes everyone will say Haven't you lost weight! :rotfl:
SQ so do I he is so cute. Probably emphasised by DS10 growing up so fast he is a typical 15 year old already. Surprising how much they mature in a few years. DS looked at a flat on line, looked at it's surroundings and said oh look at that M&S a few hundred yards away and said "that's the one". Why M&S his favourite biscuits.0 -
Hope all the poorlies are soon better.0

Don't post on here much anymore - never really had anything helpful to say!
But Pooky just wanted to send my kind thoughts to you and your Mum and family! Tough times indeed x0 -
Pooky - will be praying for you all, you have had such a rubbish year so far. Am I right that your OH attends kings so you have know it fairly well etc? That will at least make the practical side easier for you all.
Sending hugs to all, its been a yuck day here, we took doggie to vet and they have decided he now has cancer which has spread into his legs, they say he is still not suffering but they foresee the next appointment will be the end if not sooner. They have reminded me they have vets 24 hrs and if he needs help in the night I am just to call and they will see him.
Then I finally got to visit the GP over my back, which is getting progressively worse, he is sending me for an MRI but warns he believes I have a bulging disc?? which will at the very least need regular injections into the spine, but more likely part of the disc removed. Rather a sobering thought, he also pointed out that I will likely need more help to manage sooner rather than later.
DS10 seems to have recovered from the stomach bug quicker than DD8, she is ready to return to school tomorrow after almost a week, he is angling for a trip to the park0 -
Kidcat - I have bulging discs. Diagnosis was in the days when spinal surgery was pretty much more kill than cure, so I didn't go down that route. It took me a long time and a lot of effort, but I fixed myself. However, spinal surgery is now very effective, you're up and about within days and it both restores mobility and reduces pain (neither of which were particularly likely 25 years ago).
In the meantime, you should ask about physio. And look up Robin McKenzie.0 -

Kidcat my OH had back problems for years due to a workplace injury. It started getting worse, and a MRI showed a disc protruding by 8 mm! A week after the scan he had an operation, was in hospital two days, had to.take it easy for a while afterwards has been absolutely fine since, no more back pain at all! No need to worry, as said previously, spinal surgery has advanced greatly and if the disc is your problem it can soon be sorted. One life - your life - live it!0

Monnagran, if I don't put the lid down at all, but pop some water in instead, it could be a soothing foot spa.
So sorry to hear about your mum Pooky, sending hugs. Sorry also to those feeling ill, time to hibernate.
Kidcat, I have 2 bulged discs, my MRI makes for sobering viewing, but you can be ok with it too. My doctor at first was quite negative about it. Lots of exercise and a book entitled "the back sufferers bible" means I now very rarely suffer at all. It is doable, so don't automatically think the worst (when mine initially went I couldn't move from the chest down, so it is a huge improvement for me).Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Fuddle I'm a carer so know all about the regulations, but make sure you have another witness. It's really easy for people to say your abusing your position especially as the complaint was directed at you. Trust me on this you may have been in the profession for one year, I've been within the service history for over 15 years. If you discipline someone regarding words or actions directed at you. Its safer to have a witness, it means you and the other person is protected.
Like I said I gave the verbal warning according to our policies and procedures. I'm not sure why you want to push me on this but seeing as you are I will explain that I gave the verbal warning in the office in front of two supervisors and the care manager... as per our policies and procedures.
Being a carer, and I know many toughies are, is absolutely not the same as being a domiciliary care coordinator. The rules and regulations are forever changing. No one can ever get complacent in thinking they know everything surrounding domiciliary care. Please allow me to chat about my new role without feeling like you need to pull me up on something you think you know everything about.
Sorry toughies. I came on to catch up but think I will go to bed and just read my book. :cool:0
