Shanks: It's that flu jab to blame. I've successfully avoided them for the last 16 years. I've had flu twice in my lifetime, once in 1957 and again in 1998. At that rate I reckon the next session will be due in 2039 - just in time for my 100th birthday - I think I'll take the risk.
Softstuff: Whatever you do don't forget to put the lid down before putting a cushion on it.
SQU: Hope you don't get the lurgy, nothing worse than having to look after invalids while feeling like death warmed up yourself.
Possession: Hold out against any pressure to complete before you are ready. When we moved my Dad into his bungalow we had 36 hours notice. We didn't dare put it off because we were in a chain of 30+ and the EA had managed to keep it all together by being on the end of the phone 24/7. She was already waiting for the men in white coats.
There wasn't a removal van to be had at that late stage and the EA of beloved memory manged to track down a self drive van 50 miles away. The young chap buying Dad's house volunteered to drive and I summoned sons, sons friends and everyone who owed me a favour to do the fetching and carrying. It was the hottest day of the year and by the time we had unloaded the young chap's furniture onto Dad's lawn, loaded Dad's furniture onto the van, unloaded it onto the bungalow's lawn, loaded the bungalow lady's furniture onto the van and unloaded it into her flat we were only fit to be shovelled up and dumped on to a bed. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!
Until we have sorted out the reason for our astronomic gas bill we are keeping the heating off as much as possible. I am wearing more clothes than I thought I possessed, topped by a thick fleecy dressing gown of a bright turquoise hue, my cheap black furry lined snowshoes and a pink fleece gilet that I found on the wardrobe floor. The fashion industry is in a tizzy over it. I believe Vogue is sending photographers.
Now I have to go outside and rescue our bins. This probably calls for a scarf - a long bright red one - and some gloves, possibly tasteful sheepskin ones.
We fashionistas have to maintain our image.

No Hat?????"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
monnagran I have on 4 thermal vests, a blouse, a jumper and a thick cardigan. If I Had fingerless gloves I would probably wear them as I can't type in gloves.
No Hat Elona my neck is very short and my collar pushes a hat off every few seconds otherwise I probably would have. I kept my dressing gown on all day yesterday on top of same clothes other than substitute a waistcoat for the cardigan.
The heating is on 24/7 and is not reaching 16 degrees. Taken delivery of 2 pairs of thermal long johns and 2 thermal vest for DS. I have not been warm for about 3 weeks apart from in bed.
If you have NPower for your energy supplier your bill is because they do not add up as well as an average 5 year old. For them 1 + 1 = 105 every time.0 -
Monnagran.....Do you know why your gas bill came in so high ?..Was the metre read when you moved in ?, im just wondering if you are paying someone elses bill before you moved in........
I do feel for you having to wear so many layers just to keep warm, its been so cold past week too, I just cant wear layers at all I feel so uncomfortable bulked up , but I always wear a jumper with the heating on or off then im feeling comfortable .............I can only wear one pair of socks too , although I always wear my sheepskin ankle slippers.......You would all laugh if you were to have seen me when I took the dog out this arvo , as there was a bitter wind so I found a army style green balaclava :eek:and had a good coat on with its own hat, oh did I feel so cosy , I bet I looked as if I was about to do a robbery........

LOL Monnogran I'm not surprised Vogue are calling. I'd imagine your garden will be full of papparazzi sooner or later. Hopefully I've held off on Friday 13th, but we will still exchange on the 9th and I can start making arrangements with the million and one companies you need to contact at times like these.0

Monna, too late... I now have the lurgies, only since this afternoon. Managed to do dinner, strip chicken, sort food waste and bins/recycling (bin day tomorrow.) Mountain of dishes left....just can't face them and probably would have none left as I am dropping everything! Will go to bed as soon as kids do which is 9.30 for DS10, just need to stay awake for 2 more hours... now where are those matchsticks?
hope you are tucked up in bed Sheila and your headache goes asap.
Possession... listening to our monna..... don't be pressured if you won't be ready in time
Hope you are ok SDG0 -
DS8 has just said to me "am I still ill?" I said you are much better but you have a cold which you can take to school with you tomorrow
I love the stuff he comes out with.

Evening all, so far 2015 has been utterly pants.
Mum had a mini stroke on Sunday night and was rushed in this morning after she collapsed. She's had 2 large bleeds on the brain and is in a really bad way. We were given the "prepare yourselves" talk. They'll be moving her up to the neuro team at Kings overnight so we've spent the day trying to keep her calm and keep Dad from getting so upset. She's not lucid, no idea who anyone is and gets very distressed...dreadful to watch bless her. My sister is with her tonight and will go to London with her and I'll get Dad there as soon as I can tomorrow. It's been a bit of a day!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Thanks for the well wishes.
All I can say is that it has been a long time since I've felt like this. I feel like I should be a size 0 given the weight I should have dropped today. I stopped drinking for 4 hours, was sick twice in that time, but thankfully I've kept a few sips of water down and seem to be over the worst, fingers crossed. DH has stocked me up with ginger ale, hard boiled sweets and banana milk which is my food of choice when I'm ill.
I've cancelled my nephew coming to stay as I really don't want to risk passing this on to him and his little sister. I'm disappointed, but there will be other times soon.
Time to risk another sip of water....yum
Take care xxxx
