Yes I'd rather just get it over with now, given that I don't want to move at all but must. DD has just informed me that it can't be a school day though as she has to go round the house saying goodbye to everything. It'll be fun getting her to school that day won't it.0

Kidcat - if you haven't enough hours, what can you cut out/cut down/ postpone or cancel completely? Please don't make yourself ill. If I can do it.... you can!
Well I have just texted my friend to cancel child sitting. I do feel guilty as DS10 isn't as bad now. He has eaten but not moved off sofa and still has a temperature. Probably just a cold but he looks rough and he usually pushes himself to go to school come what may. I am feeling worse and really can't face extra noisy kids. Anyway decision made, if it was an important medical appointment I would have made a different decision.
Off to have soup and plod on. Doing essentials slowly and the rest will just wait. Fortunately my tasks are not only many but also varied so doing easy bits, no oven scrubbing today!0 -
Heads up from Make do thread.... Allydeesss voucher in tomorrow's MirrrrOr, £5 off 40. Perfect for us as DH gets paid tomorrow after a 5 week pay month and I haven't done a big shop since before Christmas.0

SQ you are a star...... I will have 2 vouchers as we are investing in a radiator cover so the sofa cant actually get pushed on the radiator and get burn marks on it like the last one did!!! Nice they have listened and made the amount as £40 shop. this is far more manageable. When it was 45 I had to do a joint shop with my mum.

Afternoon all
SQ - You did the right thing - the only time I had other peoples kids in the house when mine were poorly was when I was childminding.....didn't have a choice then.
Possession - Hopefully you'll feel better once you're settled in the new place. I've always been up for moving - I'm looking forward to our next one!
Talking of next moves we're really ramping up the "lets get rid of all the tatt" as we've seen a house we like (won't go to view as it's not likely ours will be on the market until Autumn and I doubt it will still be there - we'll let fate play a part in this one). The 2 bed bungalow 5 doors along from us that needs updating (early 80's kitchen, new boiler, new bathroom and decor) has just gone on the market for £250k. We're a 3 bed semi with garage, conservatory, new kitchen, new boiler, decor is all great (well it will be by the time it's on the market)....so we're hoping we can achieve at least the same (won't count our chickens).
To that end 4 boxes of stuff has just been boxed up and popped in the garage for a boot fair - I've been through wardrobes and have 3 black sacks of stuff good enough to sell and I've just boxed up all the games and dvds that are off to whoever was willing to give us the most money. Yay!! I'm on a decluttering mood.....watch out kittens!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Pooky have you checked on cex or musicmagpie ?? I often sort ours out and do a major car booty. We aim to sell everything so I would rather make a little on each item than just a few sell. This year I am going to do at least 4 and each one I will be sorting out more and more to sell. If we manage to muster time together me and DD do one and share the funds at the end.
Failing that if you can be bothered we do a bin bag of clothes for £10 on facebook, people buy them that are traders and they sell on markets or car boots. If its excellent then ebay, but its the posting and final selling fees that put me off.BSC member 137

We had to move at a few days notice ended having to give away an almost new £2,500 wardrobe, pay to have taken away almost new cooker, almost new double bed, desk, pool table, chair that went with sofas (could not get through door, large !!!!!! same reason. Gave away a lot of stuff I found I needed after I moved here would have been better to have more time. Family pressured to move from a few days after op and would not understand, it takes 10 months to get over major surgery so not built back up to normal activity. Family were more of a hindrance than help. Son discouraged, to extent of forbidding me to move near him, and he now refuses to speak because I am 2 hours away. I could not afford his area anyway. They promised to come and help and then backed out day before move would not go through that again for all the tea in China.
I was only having a bit of fun when letting you know I am thinking of the movers. It is not possible is it.0 -
nuttyP, thinking of you for Saturday.
Congrats Softstuff & Possession, I would rather be given a tight time scale too, I work better under pressure!
Thanks for the reminder SQ, I will get a paper tomorrow on my way to work, may even get 2 as the voucher will last for a week, can always fill up with tins and long life milk.
Spent all last night up with DD as she was sick just about every 20 mins from 9.30 to 5am, poor lamb is exhausted and asleep on the settee at the moment, I will wake her in a mo as she wont sleep tonight otherwise. Doesn't matter how old they are does it, you still feel bad for them.
Still cold here but hasn't snowed since last night, wish the ice would go now, it is so slippy out there. Hope you are all cozy and warm.0 -
Bless all of you, you're fab. I wasn't so much keeping birthdays quiet as that they just don't have any relevance for me these days, it's just numbers but nothing else changes so I don't much take notice of them. He Who Knows is 70 on Friday but again, he doesn't take any notice either, we're still together and like each other most of the time and nothing has fallen off yet so life as normal is fine by us. Yes it is nice having a working loo upstairs but I have to play find the looroll after the builder goes in the evenings as he never puts it in the same place twice and I don't want to go hunting for it if I have to get up in the night!!!
Well, the best laid plans have gang agley again!! Having walked the Dockling, sorted the house and made the 9.13 bus out of the village I got a phone call at 11.30 to say the horrid plummer hadn't come but had sent one of his employees who was nearly finished so it was OK to return........Oh Yeah??? Home at 1.45 having a cuppa leaning on the work surface under the airing cupboard I got a wet back....... I screamed having turned round and seen bubbles under the plaster and water coming out above the tiles and then 'POP' the bubble burst and became a fountain all over the surface and everything on it and a waterfall on to the floor. They all came running and the plummer thought it was 'funny' as he was certain the tank was empty, certain it was not a burst pipe and it was only a little bit of water 'I'll get a towel!'. I was apparently wearing my Grapefruit Face and the builder took my measure and hastily said he'd make it all good, Oh yes, he jolly well will and for free but then told us the tank he'd ordered wouldn't fit in the attick as we have joists too narrow for it (they looked up there last week before ordering the wretched thing) and he wouldn't be able to get it or fit the shower until Monday AAAAAGGHHHHH!!! I have DD2, hubs and Zebra coming for the weekend, the top floor is in chaos with tools in 3 of the 5 rooms you couldn't make it up!!! Fed Up with the WHOLE CABOODLE< Lyn xxx.0 -
Oh Lyn
you need your peace and tranquillity back, quick sharpish! Happy Birthday x
Congratulations on the positive housey news Possession and softstuff and look forward to starting a new chapter of your lives. Very exciting times ahead
We lost a dear customer of ours this weekend. It has meant a lot of upheaval for his daughter so much so that she has dropped all of the items associated with his care off to our office for us to sort. we're not sure what to do with a lot of it but I have brought home the little table that slots under a bed, gave it a good clean and disinfect and now youngest DD has a desk over her bed. We'll spray paint it soon.
Still loving my job but still very tired :eek:0
