(((((nursemaggie))))) re your teeth
DH and I did get out in the end. Had a lovely cuppa and cake in a little independent caf! further afield. We browsed charity shops but too expensive and DH put down a couple of books instead of buying. Only bought a basketful of groceries.
I took my notebook into the caf! and we had a talk about our priorities. We have decided to shake a few things up: more effort with spending less to save for house spends, sticking to tighter budgets etc; regular quality time for us as a couple; healthier habits generally in terms of food and exercise and specifically a big breakthrough after years, DH has agreed to try and cut his excessive cola habit down. Also going to cut boys' screen time down again, it has crept up and is getting to be their default leisure activity, has to go down. We do the talk but don't always walk the walk! I need to get some goals, projects and specific tasks down on paper. I really hope DH is on board with it all, I have told him I need more help to get changes and projects to actually happen.0 -
No news on the mortgage front here, still waiting for final approval, but no news I'm assuming is good news.
I'm presently trying to clean then oil deck no. 2. It's only doing a task like this that I actually remember I don't have the stamina I used to!
Could use some of your cold weather though folks, it's too damned hot and humid here.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
savingqueen, I bet you feel really good now you and dh have had a sit down on your own to chat.
I hope you hear about your mortgage soon Softstuff, the house we were in before this had a huge deck that had to be power washed and oiled every year and the last time I did it I remember thinking it would have taken half the time a few years ago!
Hope your teeth are feeling better nursemaggie.
Pooky, I think you are quite right re the washing machine, mine is about 10 years old and I wouldn't spend money on it now. It sometimes 'forgets' to take the fabric softener at the moment so I don't think it will be long!
I am still on the hunt for a wardrobe, I have seen one I like but got annoyed as I want white, one that is cream is half the price in the same shop. I did ask if they would match but they said no. May have to bite the bullet and order it anyway.0 -
Teeth much better Thank-you Ivyleaf. Lots to be done yet though and I have had to pay 3 times.
SQ Point out to DH that his cola habit could lead to my sort of problems not that mine are due to that I don't like sugary drinks at all. I drink mainly water and coffee and I am not a sweetie fiend either. I eat really healthily. Going to do a nice big cooked breakfast in a minute as we are both up very early. Haven't had a cooked breakfast for ages.0 -
Morning Toughies, cold and frosty here this morning and the sky has 'that' look about it so I'm expecting some sort of precipitation in the not too distant future. Well, I actually have a working loo and wash basin upstairs as of yesterday evening, UTTER BLISS!!! The builder starts with the tiling today and tomorrow we have the shower and new water tank fitted so I'm offski for the whole day as it will be gruesome and I suspect very cold and waterless here for most of it. Hopefully the last of the tiling and the 'finishing' will be done on Thursday and then we'll be able to get back to our normal routine, Oh yes we shall!!!
Look after yourselves in all this chilliness and stay safe when you're out and about, Lyn xxx.0 -

Thanks Camelot. I don't have a delightful newfangled device like a pressure washer.... I don't even have a long hose :rotfl: This deck is being done with a stiff broom and bucket after bucket of soapy water. And much elbow grease. The cleaning of it is done now in any case, the oiling commences in a couple of days. I find myself again doing rather a lot of things I swore I wouldn't do again after the last time. Frankly ecstatic at the idea of repainting all of the ceilings after they've been skimmedSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070
