Lyn Im guessing your plumber had a digital shower 'in stock' so to speak as someone else refused it - Im married to a builder so know all the tricks :rotfl:

Its cold and the wind is getting up here so have battened down the hatches. Dgs is here but has decided its Thursday as he often delegates us to babysit on Thursdays:) he is now hopefully tucked in for the night and long may it continue!

  • Been MIA for a few days as work and life have been very busy and I had my first migraine for 2 years which wiped out Sunday and Monday for me.
DD finished her second course of antibiotics Friday night and by Sunday she was ill again. Now on her third course of antibiotics the sooner she has her surgery the better.

My sister has invited me to a baby shower for her daughter which is lovely but does this mean presents for the shower and presents when the baby is born? I'm not convinced that a baby shower is appropriate for an underage pregnancy.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I'm another one who likes the look of the pretty white snow (til it turns to the grey mushy stuff if you live in a town) but am petrified driving on it especially when it ices over.
I can only imagine what a wheelchair user or pusher would have to cope with . So I will say thanks but no thanks - I really like the milder weather sorry pooky and Sheila!

All the mess will be worth it Mrs LW and Stilty. Sorry to hear about the delay with the funeral. Sending more hugs.

DH is glued to the footie, I'm off for a bath.

Softstuff I think the Australian system must be rather better than here, we are still waiting on mortgage approval from November and the survey of our house was only done today!

Well I think I would still claim for that carpet Lyn I so far cannot see why you thought they were good plumbers.

I still feel I don't want snow. It is so cold and the house will not get warm it just goes straight out through the uninsulated loft. Despite asking many times I have had no reply from the landlord re the governments warm home grants.

It's hard to know if congratulations are in order with the menopause, ivyleaf. Is OH spray down the back of the sofa?

juliettet agree with the cockroaches. I spent 2 1/2 years in Singapore in the sixties I used to scream when I saw there feelers move. They were about 6 centimeters long. Nothing else bothered me apart from the night we got a cicada in the bedroom. The racket kept us awake all night.

You can keep all your bugs in Australia Softstuff. We have relatives out there but I will never afford to visit so I don't need to worry. Glad you are making progress with your house.

Its the cockroaches that would do me Softstuff. Only thing that ruined a lovely holiday for me was seeing one then spent half my time looking for others. Don't mind spiders or anything else.

They don't do a great deal for me juliettet! I'm better than I used to be (I don't run screaming from the room, can flatten one with a large book now, but am not at the stage of being able to lift the book up after :rotfl:)

SQ, loving the idea of a "happy menopause" card! I'd love one when it's time. I did like happy divorce cards back when I got divorced, but didn't at the time have a friend that shared my same sense of human.

Digital... shower...?? Mardatha, I live with a software developer *keen* on technology, but we'd never have anything like that. Ginnyknit is probably right about the reasoning. There's all kinds of builder "overorder" that's coming into my flat from my friend before we sell up! I do love those prawn and egg sandwiches, my favourite ikea food.

Stilty, the funeral delay can't be helped, but sorry you're all having to go through that. Somehow a funeral is a point to move on, so it's nice to have it sooner.

Sorry to hear about your migraine MrsVP, hope you're feeling better now.

Possession, not sure if the system is better, it rushes us somewhat. We had to approve building within 7 days of signing first contract and mortgage within 21. 30 days to settlement. Our bank does seem very good though (ING), I've liked them for many things. Hope yours speeds up a bit.

  • Mrs. VP: regarding the baby shower, if you give a present at the shower that's all you have to do. Unless as an Auntie, you are overwhelmed by the beauty of the newborn.

Morning everyone, some nice news from softstuff over the house. Mrs VP for the baby shower I gave a friends daughter some bits like nappies and baby wash, shampoo, wipes. I spent under £5 and placed them in a bag, all bought from @ldi. Stiltwalker, little missys access will be great for the summer. I hope OH gets closure soon. I can appreciate the pain after loosing my dad. Mrs LW I hope the new bathroom is sorted soon, we have a standard shower, its council issue so that's all you get. I love the fact we have one, its great.

Well I have updates about mum, she is going in on Friday to see the specialist. All been sorted very quickly. I have arranged cover for work as I need to take her and check she is ok.

I had my appointment with the hospital yesterday, they did a small colonoscopy, I am going in for the full one within 14 days and then if that's not the answer one from my mouth down.....feeling abit scared at the thought of that one.

And finally.................. DD has been offered the apprentaship at the local academy and she starts in June. She will be a trainee teaching assistant. Part of the deal is she will do her level 2 maths and also her gcse ICT and will study alongside the other students. After these have been done she is going to do history. They like there staff to learn alongside the students, I am so proud. We now need to magic some cash tho, she will need an ipad to study and use there as all there stuff is on one. We also need to pay for the CRB check. It will all be ok, and I am proud that she has decided what she wants to do.

Off to @ldi with mum, so will pop by later x

Nutty please tell your DD congratulations. I should look for an ipad on e-bay should be lots for sale now from those who got new for Christmas. Some will be quite new as well. You should get the best price this time of year when more people are selling.

Personally I think the colonoscopy is the worse you have to lie so still. The other you just swallow. It is not as big as you imagine and is quite comfortable one in. They are likely to give you a sedative to help you relax. I hope everything goes OK and it is nothing serious.

Hope everything goes OK for your mum.

Mouth down's a lot easier than bum up Nutty! Ask for a sedative, you'll be non the wiser. I've had 3 from the mouth end, 1 from the bum end, I know which I'd rather do again :rotfl:

Congrats to your DD, lovely news.
