  • Hi FUDDLE we're OK with the weather up here, it was very wet and windy and now it's gotten a lot colder but it IS January after all isn't it? Docky is fine health wise and isn't reacting to things that normally upset him half as strongly as he used to. I think that's partly the valerian pour on and partly the Zylkene from the vet for his mental health. He isn't too keen on the builders being here and we're having to keep him shut in the lounge and kitchen as they keep leaving the front door wide open and he'd just wander out and has NO road sense whatsoever, so he's a bit out of sorts with that, nothing to worry about though.

I'm glad you're enjoying your new job, changing jobs is always a bit of an ordeal and it takes time to break in a new area and a new routine until it's normal, you'll get there girly and soon. I've just found a smashing little independent butcher whose prices are not so high that I flinch when I shop there but he's not the cheapest either. What he does have though is the best quality meat I've found for quite a few years. I got some stewing steak there the other day, it cost me £4,76 for a pound of meat but there is no waste, it was perfectly lean and is in the slow cooker with some red wine, mushrooms, bacon lardons and onions and leeks for supper this evening. I also got a brisket joint which cost me just over £11 to pot roast for Sunday but that will be amply enough for at least two more meals for the two of us from it and maybe sandwiches as well so worth the outlay. I find the best value for money is in things like Belly Pork Slices, liver and bacon, black pudding, stewing steak and good meat content sausages/sausagemeat. I have lots of old fashioned cookery books with recipes for making the most from the cheaper cuts too.

    Scary sq with the bank

Sorry haven't came on, therapy session really affected me quite badly. PTSD is showing up in first instance amongst other things.
Had another introduction to therapy today, felt sick and really nervous. Full blown panic attacks in flow, but a very good friend who has same probs helped me through it. So the outcome is hopefully staying a DBT curse in march. Went to my really goods house had lunch and spoke about sessions, therapy had a good laugh. Were very similar luckily then collected ds2 from school and came home. Supposed to have attended birthday meal but couldn't face it without OH.
£10 spent in charity shop bargains after session while waiting for taxi to arrive. John rocha towelling dressing robe £3 (new with tags), the pairs of knitting needles, £1.50 adult star wars jigsaws, £1.50 set of apron, tea towel and oven gloves and three books. Very chuffed.

Just waiting for OH to finish bath then watching a film together, bit of family time.

Have a good weekend all x
  • kez l hope that the therapy sessions become easier to cope with and that you start to feel the benefits soon.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

    Hugs Kez - X

Up at my parents again, this time for a planned weekend with hair appointments booked - yay, my hair needed a cut about 3 weeks ago and I've currently got it clipped out of my face cos it's annoying me with a silly clip of Miss Stilty's. After the last few weeks I need a bit of pampering too - it's one of my very few indulgences, a good haircut and colour, having a professionally done mix of red, copper and blond highlights does me a world of good (and on an MSE note, having it done up here in Cumbria it is a lot more reasonable than it could be).

Parents gone up to bed as they have offered to field small people in the morning while we have a bit of a lie in (I love my parents, they are ace) and DH just spending his birthday Amazon voucher from my parents on a pair of long biker style boots (bit mid life crisis-y but it has cheered him up and they will suit his look even if I'll never let him have a real mid life crisis bike!).

    Bearing up ok in general.

Little Miss Stilty ok, was quiet and subdued at beginning of week but getting back to herself - she's had a fab week at school getting more than half her spellings right (also showing fab typing skills to do this) and doing really well with her numeracy using numicon - it seems to be something she can access really well. Both she and her little brother also worked really hard in their hydrotherapy session too.

Hope you can all have a lovely weekend - Hx

That therapy sounds like tough going Kezlou, hope you feel better with it soon.

Glad you're having a relaxing weekend Stilty, you deserve it.

I spent an evening last night and day today babysitting a friends dogs. Nothing quite like a little Jack Russell to make you feel loved.

stiltwalker, I hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend, you need it.
Possession and Softstuff - Fantastic news! I bet you can't wait to move.
    Kezlou - Look after yourself.

Had a bit of a nothing week, just chugging along but at least there haven't been any dramas! I have managed to go swimming 3 times this week so pleased with that.

Mrs LW, how's the house coming on? It's a rotten time of year to have windows missing and doors open. I have to have a lot done to this house soon, just hoping it can be after February as I always feel that's the worst of the winter nearly over.

    Have a good weekend all.
  • Hi CAMELOT we've got the weekend off for good behaviour!!! There is still no working loo or wash basin upstairs but we do have a fitted bath now and the new windows are all in and almost finished so we're not going to have lounge and kitchen doors open next week. Getting there is how I would describe it, slowly but surely getting there!!! Plummer is coming on Wednesday to fit a new water tank in the loft and the new shower too and hopefully before that the loo and wash basin will be usable in the bathroom. That just leaves tiling the bathroom and 2 x extractor fans to be fitted and then we have to wait for the plaster to completely dry out and it will be decorating. Will be nice when it's finished but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all

    Possession - get packing woman!!!

Mrs LW - I've always been miffed at the order in which builders do stuff - I've never seen any logic in it. Hope it's all over soon for you.

Hugs to the Stilties - hope a break with your parents helps get you all back on track.

Gorgeous sunny morning and bright blue skies but a lovely sparkly frost all over - my favourite type of morning.

DD2's off out with friends, DH is at a Uni lecture (luckily they're in the same town so DD2 has gone with DH to get his wheels out the car and she'll help him back in and cadge a lift home too) DD1 probably won't surface until midday at the earliest so I can bumble along and get some stuff done. Todays tasks are to move a couple of bookcases, sort them, reduce the amount of stuff on them and then flog one. If the shelf space isn't there, I can't fill it! (that's the theory anyway)

My little business seems to be going in a new direction at the moment as I've found a little niche that makes more money than the cutting side, I'll still be cutting as I enjoy it so much but it does mean I can be more selective and charge a bit more.

Got an order coming on Monday from the new meat suppliers everyone seems to be talking about - there was a great deal via one of the FB groups, not quite sure how it's all going to fit in the freezer but I'm sure I'll sort something. I'll report back on quality and value for money.

    Good afternoon all

Huge hugs kez. Glad you have a friend who understands, makes such a difference. Hope the therapy helps you, takes some guts to do it.

Oooh a new business venture Pooky, you are quite the entrepreneur! Congrats.

I am being spoilt today by my boys. Breakfast in bed then cuppas bought on request to the sofa, remote in hand and cats purring on my lap. I rarely watch TV in the day so felt decadent. Yesterday a lovely friend organised a special birthday lunch for 5 of us at her home. 2 lots of 2 friends and we all got on like a house on fire together and had a wonderful afternoon. She had decorated the place and everything.

Going to a carvery soon (when we all get dressed!) and plan a long soak in the bath later and homemade birthday cake (made by the same friend who organised my little party, we had another HM cake then!!) and bucks fizz. No chores of any form today (will do tomorrow but that's tomorrow!) and plan to relax all day. One of my pressies was a book set so I might start a new book too. Was planning an energetic walk but think we might do that tomorrow instead, just feel like being lazy! DH says I have 2 speeds, full on or stop. I think the full on is the default so when I allow myself time to relax properly, I seem to come to a complete standstill.

    Hope everyone is ok today?
