Hope you're alright Kez.
Had a fall last night straight onto my left knee, it seems to be working OK and I don't think the replacement has slipped but it hurts! I'm sure it will be alright in a couple of days. I've had a huge 10,000 word proofread to do today along with karate taxi-ing so no packing done yet.0 -
Happy Birthday SQ:bdaycake: sounds like you are having a really good day.
Hugs Kez look after yourself.
Get packing Possession and get everyone else at it too. I have exchanged contracts and completed at the same time more than once. I expect it will be us next but waiting a few weeks before applying for anything don't want to move in the winter again.
Pooky and Sheila we have SNOW!!
Not had very good last few days. Was getting dinner ready on Wednesday, I'll give you cooks perks Lyn, was eating the cauliflower storks. mmm lovely until they suddenly felt gritty. I had broken a tooth.
It broke with two sharp points and two sharp edges like a modern razor, though not quite as close together. It cut into me every time I had a drink or tried to eat even when I just swallowed my saliva and I ended up talking with my lip pulled out to stop it cutting me. I have ended up with two large ulcers one of which is about 6 centimetres long.
I knew there was an emergency dentist system but I did not know who to call. I could not eat my dinner Wednesday night or anything Thursday so I could not take my cancer medication because they irritate the stomach. I am supposed to take them on a full stomach and with at least half a pint of water.
I spent all night and most of the morning Googling to try and find the emergency dental service. Nothing. I got a post card saying to call one of my survey companies about a written survey on GPs and dentists. Well as a last resort I asked them who I have to call and they knew. I could not get a dentist Thursday so had to call back Friday. Saw a dentist at two pm Friday what a relief she covered it with a temporary filling.
Nothing to eat or drink for two hours. I went into town got home just before 5pm put the kettle on and unpacked part of my shopping. Dead on 5pm my temporary filling dropped out OUCH! just as the dentist closed.
I then spent 1 1/2 hours calling the evening emergency dentist. I got another temporary filling in about 8pm. Finally got home about 10pm. I kept trying things that did not need chewing for my supper. Everything stung the ulcer. I thought I'll have some hummus that will be lovely. Forgot about the lemon juice I nearly hit roof.
I ended up eating the last serving of Christmas pudding out of the freezer, with lashings of thick Baileys Cream. Well that lined my stomach. I could do with a mincer now. I slept 12 hours but then I had not had any sleep since Tuesday night. I have to rest now and keep rinsing the ulcers in salt water.0 -
Ouch Maggie, so sorry to hear that. B00ts sell a "temporary filling kit" - my son bought one when he lost a filling and it lasted until he was able to see his own dentist a couple of weeks later.
Happy Birthday SQ  Glad to hear you're being spoiled, as you thoroughly deserve
Kez (((HUGS))), I'm sure the counselling will help, and what a good thing that you have an understanding friend
Mrs LW ((HUGS)) re the building work! Oh well, i suppose it will be over soon and you'll hopefully be very happy with the results. It's good to hear that Docky is coping well with the upheaval.
Fuddle So glad you love your new job. Things will all fall into place soon x0 -

Maggie - for future reference, you can use 111 to locate an emergency dentist. Also pharmacies usually stock tooth repair kits... I know this because I broke a (dead, root filled) tooth on Dec 29th. Luckily my dental practice could fit me in the next day.
My temporary filling came out on the next Saturday at 4pm (I discovered it was probably because I was carefully cleaning my teeth with interdental brushes and it was using the gaps to cling on!), so I went to the pharmacy who sold me a temp filling kit that covered the sharp bits till I could get back to the dentist.
She was very impressed with how well I'd doneAnd told me not to clean the new temp filling off... and only eat on the other side.
I now have a temp crown on and have to go back in about 10 days for the permanent one.
I have also made sure I have a spare tooth repair kit in the house, just in case.0 -
I have the name and number of the emergency dental service. The evening service is really good and I was amazed to learn it is available even on Christmas Day. I already knew the guy that answers the day time number it is the same number I call for hospital transport.
I am not going out in the snow I have osteoporosis so I am not risking a fall.
No Ivyleaf I would not use an inter dental brush on a temporary filling. They can push out fillings between teeth. Now I know how good the evening service is I shall use it again if I need to.
I had the company of a lovely little Asian girl she was probably between 2 and 3. Yes she had broken a tooth. It did not stop her coming and sitting with me and talking away to me. Everyone else was smiling. She got a book and brought it to me before her mum had booked in.0 -
Ouch Possession and nursemaggie. Good luck with the next dentist appointments nursemaggie and greenbee. I think I will get one of those emergency repair kits.
I am full of a lovely roast. Choice of gammon, pork, beef and turkey so I had a slice of each, an enormous Yorkshire plus: roasties, creamy mash, stuffing, red cabbage with cranberries, carrots, green beans, cauli cheese, peas and swede! Would have been 100/100 if they had my favourite Brussels! They had a deal on, 20% off if you had a voucher on a smartphone or printed off. I think the lovely waiter felt sorry for us when I said we have neither smartphone or printer and whispered when we had the bill that he had taken the discount off anyway. DS8 couldn't finish his meat so I asked if we could take it home for our cats so he found a Tupperware container (which we can keep) to put it in. DS couldn't wait to feed the cats....
Just about to have my birthday cake and then a soak in the bath. Lucky me.0 -

Just had a truly lovely fish pie using up salmon from the freezer, potatoes from the sack and bechamel sauce mix from the huge Approved Foods tub of powder. Then a jam sponge using up AF sponge mix (which as I recall cost about 4p) and value jam. Yum. I fear we may have left the using up a bit too late though...0
