Mrs LW, good to hear your builders are making headway. Not looking forward to having work done here again but needs must! Went to look at log burners today, surveyor coming some time to have a look. We have a non-working gas fire (it was disconnected to have the chimney swept and hasn't been re-connected), but it needs a couple of parts, don't really like it or any other gas fires, and I do miss the log burner.
I have just given the skirting boards in my room a coat of paint, they are all new and white, so look ok, just a bit dirty. It is tempting to leave them but I can't start another room till they are finished. Will finish them tomorrow and that will be my bedroom finished.
Happy Birthday SQ, sounds like you've had a lovely time.
Nursemaggie and Possession, hope you are better soon, sounds painful.
Off to collect DD from the train in a mo, so cold out there, but the snow has frozen.0 -
Hi ....
Mrs LW glad you are getting somewhere with the builders ,we know how you feel we have spent the last 5 years doing an extension ...about 2 and a half years ago the outside was built ,builders not too good so we said goodbye to them and have done the inside ourselves ,first we did the attic room ,then youngest ds new bedroom ,then new kitchen sep 13 ,still need to put some floor down .....then this year need to do smaller back /spare room and new shower room .up to now we have just shut the door on themboth need everything done they are only at the plasterboard stage now ,we have had the shower/toilet/sink standing in there boxes for about 6 years, bought when homebase closed £5 for a sink :j....have replaced 12 windows only have our bedroom to do ...fires changed, heating changed, half the house has new radiators others still to do .....think this house is a bit of a money pit .....but by doing it ourselves so far we have saved thousands ...just need the energy now to finish the last dit off then live in it a few years before we sell, buy somewhere smaller and be mortgage free .......then less work and more fun ....just got to last that long:rotfl:
More wood got ,cut and stacked this afternoon,dh was shooting this morning so have 2 pheasants in the garage to sort ,he was shooting when I was shopping,so far this month think we have only spent about £100,not to bad for 6 people ...
Both freezers still full so hope that apart from fresh stuff we can keep our costs down ...

Happy belated birthday to Sheila's hubby x
Thanks everyone
I agree I am very lucky, this particular friend over known for about 16/17 years. They have bi polar and attended the same place as I did for therapy. We've seen each other through our hyper, depressive, happy state's so one person who does know what's it really like.
Wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for them.
We spent today in, stupid lurgy still hanging around urghh so we just had family time together, ds2 played out for about an hour then arrived back freezing.
While they watched a film I escaped and had a long soothing bubble filled bath, vanilla candle burning, music in the background while listening to music. Absolute bliss
Ds1 is trying a new remedy for blackheads, lemon juice sprinkled on his nose and left over night.
I think the therapy was hard because I was in such a anxious state. The first session was very direct and blunt and within two minutes launched straight into asking about abuse and preverble memories. I was shocked and thrown as I hadn't spoken or did anyone savour it n sessions before. But they guessed and just focused on that. On Friday they looked at another report as well as the above. This other therapist focused more on feelings which is much more harsh but we had a break through they were able to see my fragmented self. Looking into more therapy and setting goals for the future.
Classed as secondary care under the NHS guidelines.
Went to bed last night same time as kids and just read. Listened to music and wept a little.
Tomorrow we might go out, just a matter of seeing what happens. Might see if OH fancies a trip out to high force or Whitby.0 -
That's wonderful news Burtha!
Kez you sound really positive about this counselling, I hope it's a breakthrough for you.
Right I need you all to give me a good kick up the bottom as I've been up for an hour and a half and have done nothing but drink tea. Got LOTS to do today!0 -
Brilliant news burtha, so happy to hear it. :j :j
You were all due a good dose of good luck. The best news is about your DD of course. What a wonderful and kind person to pay for a holiday like that - there are some absolutely amazing people out there.
Hope your DH had a lovely birthday Sheila, sounds like you spoilt him.
Hope you and your family are feeling better today kez. I had a bubble bath with candles yesterday, 1st time in years with candles and I am definitely doing it regularly now.
I too am hoping that this therapy really helps you - it can a very difficult challenge but as the saying goes "no pain, no gain". When I had therapy years ago, I had reached the point where I knew I HAD to give it a go - I couldn't carry on how I was and could see no other alternative. For me, it was the best thing I ever did for myself. If I could afford private therapy, I would go back. My depression and anxiety are not now severe enough (fortunately of course) for me to warrant anything more than a few hours of free counselling and it only skims the surface. Here for you if you need a hug love.0 -
Fantastic news about your DD Burtha. Would gentle self massage with a bit of oil help soften and loosen the scarring?
Kezlou, I read it elsewhere on this forum (haven't tried it myself) that spreading milk of magnesia on overnight is great for blackheads. That's if the lemon doesn't work. Therapy seems so tough, but I guess it could be a bit like physio, they're rough on you to build you up in the long term.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Had a lie in this morning as I had to get up at 3.30 am to pick DD up from work. Will finish get up shortly. Off to parents this afternoon as mum is going to teach me how to alter the winter that DD has bought which she wants fitting.
Stillwater I hope you enjoy your relaxing weekend. It does us all good to have a bit of time off every now and then.
Spooky what is "cutting". Glad you have found a niche market to fill, especially if it is benefiting what you already do.
A belated happy birthday to savingqueen.
Be careful with the knee Possession. If you have any further pain it.might be worth getting it X-Ray.
Screenshots that tooth sounds painful. I think.that milk puddings are always easy to get down if you cannot eat properly and they should not aggravate the ulcers. The chemist should be able to recommend a mouth wash that helps to heal the ulcers.
That is great news about your daughter Burtha. The holiday is a lovely idea and proves that there are some very kind people in this world.
I love a bath with candles and it is a rare treat if I get the time to have one. However they have been banned in this house. DD2 was having them on a regular basis and had not noticed that one was particularly Smokey. I cannot get the corner walls or the ceiling above where she was burning them clean. Redecorating the bathroom has now gone onto the list of jobs that needs doing this year. For Christmas I.got her a set of flameles candles that flicker and produce the same effect. They are very lifelike and cause no smoke damage.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Hi
Yes there are some nice people out there too,I think sometimes we only hear the horrid news on the media ...thought it would be nice for some good news  ,carnt tell you how proud I am of my dd though ,what has happened and what she has gone through has been awful, but she hasent once complained, just carried on with a smile ,...she is using creams on her hand ,it was a full thickness skin graft that she had ,so the end result looks like a very nasty burn and as its over joints the skin needs to start to stretch ...but she will get there ..
Snowing here ,so just refilled the bird feeders ,boy these birds can eat, better get a wiggle on dh at work and lots to do ....:)
