Nuttyp how is your Mum? Hope all went well for Miss Nuttyp

Sq well done you for going and working through the anxiety, hope you felt better after

Well, woke up to a layer of snow and had a slushy dog walk. Side roads aren't good so I'm worried about Dd driving to college as she's only been driving since September.

Snow is going to melt later and heavy rain and strong winds coming in - lovely.

Stay safe and warm everyone x

Got fingers x'd for you softstuff - it seems to be looking good! Er...next to forest....doesn't that mean spiders? rather you than me, but then, I gather there are plenty of them everywhere in Australia.

Ha ha shanks77, thank you :rotfl:

Well, yesterday I went into the pharmacy to get a flixonase spray for OH (he's tried Beconase in the past for hayfever and it didn't seem to help much) but they had none, so i bought a spray called prevalin for him to try. He used it once, then when he went to use it again before coming to bed (he gets up and goes to bed later than me) it was nowhere to be found.

I woke when he got into bed, and asked him if he'd used it, he sheepishly admitted he'd lost it and had just spent 20 minutes looking for it. I was really annoyed and came down to have a look myself and I couldn't find it either. It's only been on the sofa, FGS! How can it have disappeared? Even given the amount of "stuff" he has beside him on the sofa. It's ridiculous *flounces off*

oh well, today is a new day, and i expect it will turn up shortly. (The spray, not the day.), But might buy another one just to be on the safe side.

ahhh finally had a hot cuppa, heaven

Well had a busy morning of sorting paperwork out and tidying up the house. Felt awful yesterday and both kids were off so we just rested all day. Evening came and bio mum arrived unexpectedly filled with tale of woe. so went to hers for an hour OH picked me up and i told him whats happened. Were not getting involved fiscally cant do it yet but said we will be emotionally and physically.

Its a been a couple of weeks without trauma, arrived back on time lol

Off to mental health nurse today, new centre new professional scary. Fingers crossed all goes well and i should be out of there and off to collect ds2 ready to buy shoes for him. Hes managed to break three pairs of shoes in two months. Just glued my boots together so should be ready to use soon. Little nuggets were talking to the me, my friend was just laughing along with me. Both the popped open just i put them on, her lil kitty was loving chasing them. Such a cutie.

Spiders, snakes, cockroaches (including 2 inch long flying ones), termites, mosquitoes, midges.... you name it, it'll be in there :rotfl: But yes, they are everywhere in Australia.

It's really only the bugs that bother me. Lizards and snakes not so much (we had a 6 ft python travel along our deck once, I went out and had a good look). In true OS fashion I intend to purchase my own backpack sprayer and commercial pest treatment and do the barrier house treatments myself (it's very safe and natural). Done regularly enough, the chances of anything getting in the house alive is slim. There are bug screens on every door and window, we'll keep vegetation down in the yard and if anything gets past all that, I'll resort to calling my husband over with a heavy book :o.
    Softstuff- Officially better than 007
  • Its the cockroaches that would do me Softstuff. Only thing that ruined a lovely holiday for me was seeing one then spent half my time looking for others. Don't mind spiders or anything else.

    Hi everyone,

hope your appointment goes ok today kez, you sound so busy, you need some rest time too remember?!

ooh the house plans are going to plan softstuff.... all positive so far so good eh?

I originally typed congrats too ivyleaf as its seemed right and then I hesitated and wondered if it was really the right thing to say! So CONGRATULATIONS and you can look forward to a new stage in womanhood.
I don't think the card and gift industry have included the menopause yet... or have I missed something? I'm sure they do a card saying "congrats for getting out of bed for work on Monday morning" now don't they?- obviously different versions... from the boss, to the boss, to a colleague, to a special colleague, to a special colleague's neighbour's cousin's acquantaince and so :D Ok I am just being silly with the last one...... in a strange mood today :)

Thanks guys, I am glad to back out there IFYKWIM with the volunteering after such a long break. Highlights including one tiny boy putting his hands on my ample bosom and kind of bouncing back off :rotfl:not sure who was most shocked, another asking about my mummy as if I were his age and a surprise hug from a child who struggles with communication and is generally reticent... all boys I should add, they seem on the whole to need more attention and affection and I'm happy to give it.

I am sitting about a bit this morning not doing much but will go out soon to try and tick some things off The List. Started to feel guilty and stopped myself.... I am up first at 6.30 in the morning and doing chores well into the eve as well as the stuff during the school day so I am entitled to be a little decadent and park my bum for a while :p.

Decent weather so our main heavy cotton fitted sofa throw is out on the line... was covered with muddy paw prints, chocolate splodges (from DS8's hot chocolate) and general muck.

  • Jolly cold down here this evening,it's started raining heavily and the winds are picking up too. The forecast this morning was saying 75mph winds and lots of rain overnight, we'll see how we go!

We currently have an empty room upstairs where the bathroom used to be, the new suite is delivered tomorrow, and the plasterer is coming to do the walls and ceiling in there and the ceiling and top part of the walls in the utility room too. Currently the house reeks of adhesive which they have liberally coated all surfaces needing plastering with, yukky but necessary. We've resolved an issue about the type of shower they are installing, the plummer pushed hard for a 'digital' one and rather forced the issue yesterday but we were skeptical as to the reliability and anyway, who needs a digital shower? There are problems with them if you have WiFi in the house and we do so told the builder this morning NO to the digital and back to an ordinary old fashioned and reliable one. Think the plummer is miffed but it's our house, so tough!!!

I went out for the day as they were taking the old suite out and I knew it was going to be very noisy and dusty, best thing to do really, and had lovely lunch of an open prawn and egg sandwich in the cafe at Ikea which was washed down by my free family card coffee, very nice it was too. I found some ceramic beakers in their kitchen area and got 6 to replace our old tumblers which have gone cloudy due to being put through the dish washer, I hope ceramic beakers will fare better and last longer without being damaged. I must confess that I shall be a much happier bunny when the builders have gone and the job is finished. They aren't being too careful about clearing floors at the end of the day and have walked white plaster from the ceilings all down the stairs and along the hall. Luckily the hall lino has washed off but the stairs despite being given a good stiff brushing are still showing marks. It's an old carpet and we will be replacing it after the work is done but we have to walk on it until then, guess I'll just have to put up!!!

Hope you are all OK specially where there is snow and that the coming few days of 'weather' don't inconvenience any of you too greatly, take care, Lyn xxx

Evening all - Thankfully it has gone now but whoever would have liked snow would have been welcome to ours, snow and wheelchairs is a scary combination.

We are all doing ok here - DH is getting used to the idea of his mum not being around, few hiccups with the arrangements and the funeral directors have a bit of a winter rush on so the funeral may not be for a couple of weeks yet. That's a bit hard because I think DH would like to have it done and so he can get some closure and get back to a new normal.

In good news, the chaps doing the work on our house finished today so we now have a fully accessible way into the house, they have been busy ramping the access to the back of the house (front would be too hard as several steps) and relaying the patio so it is smooth and safe for Miss Stilty to do her own wheeling and improve her independence, learning to get in and out of the house by herself. We also now have lovely sturdy high fence and gate to the back so Master Stilty can't escape (he's obsessed with going where he is not supposed to be and we have a road at the bottom of the drive) - it's looked like the Somme out there while they've been working, with the amount of mud churned up so I can feel your pain re the mess Lynn, but thankfully they have done a great job of cleaning up so now I can have a right good mop and clean inside - as in this weather tracking some in has been unavoidable.

Hope you are all ok - Hx
