I'd have no clue what to do as a parent at all SQ. Certainly no idea where to begin on age appropriateness for that kind of thing, I'm stuck in the land of "I wouldn't have done that when I was that age" for so many things it seems :rotfl:

I hope it works out Softstuff.
Hugs Stilty, it's such a tough time isn't it.
    Hope you're feeling better Kidcat.
Hope you're got some more sweeties Mar!
Interesting night last night, DD and other school children sang with the African Children's Choir (think Gary Barlow), at least that's how it was billed to us parents who bought tickets. In fact the African Children's Choir sang for 2 hrs and found various ways to ask us for money, and our children sang with them for 10 minutes. Don't get me wrong, they were great but I felt I was there under false pretences. The cynical part of me thinks the school children were only involved to get bums on seats and sell tickets and programmes (and merchandise, we were told the only way we could remember the evening was to buy a dvd or cd or tshirt or necklace!).
Anyway enough cynicism, have spent the rest of the day trying to earn some money.

I just popped by with hugs to share out, sounds as if they are needed.

Busy day with Dgs but took our minds off everything else after a Bl**dy stupid week. To cap it all Ds found a beautiful house, well in budget but now the building society wont lend them enough money as Dil got a new job ( after everything was supposedly sorted) and they are heartbroken luckily they managed to get their landlord to re-new the lease for 6 months - she is very good to do this as they were set to move out in 3 weeks and stay mostly at the in laws till all was sorted . Oh is really struggling with it all.:o I said we should hibernate but would he listen....

ginny, what a horrible situation, at least the landlord has a heart.
savingqueen that homework seemed a little heavy, there must have been some other news.
Kidcat, hope you are feeling better, stiltwalker - big hugs to you, do as you feel right.
Monnogran, I hope you have a lovely time - doesn't matter how short a break is, it's a break.
Your house sounds fantastic softstuff, I hope you manage to get everything sorted out, so happy for you.

I need to sew up the cardi I knitted, it has taken me over a year to knit as I put it away when we moved and it has just surfaced! It will probably be awful but it keeps me busy. Apart from that not much to do, started to paint the skirting boards yesterday, made a mistake and decided to do it another day. Not sure today is the day!

    morning all :)

Oh ginny your poor DS and Dil. Thank goodness they still have a roof over their head. Wishing them better luck for later, there will be other houses.

Yes Camelot there is always another day isn't there?
I had a productive day yesterday but done burger all so far this morning, can't seem to get going. DH hurt his ribs just after Christmas playing football with our boys and they still hurt. They missed their weekly training session with dad last weekend so I have offered to take them to the park and be goalie today.... in the mud. Oh boy wish me luck, what have I done?!

Boys have last of thank yous to finish writing, this weekend is their deadline. DS8 has homework to finish and baths needed all round. Couple of blankets in the washer and then whites to do. Dry stuff to put away also. Promised banana pancakes for lunch - not sure I can get the bananas into the bowl without them disintegrating in front of me they are that old!! Then other than dinner and clearing up the kitchen lots that the essentials done. Anything else is a bonus! Actually if I factor in the park trip that's more than enough for me on a Sunday.

best get to it, hope everyone has a good day. Thinking of you Stilty and you too cornishchick and sending hugs. Hugs to anyone else who needs them, have plenty to spare.

Sorry to hear about your DS and the house Ginnyknit. It seems with mortgages there's a series of boxes and if you don't fit into one of their little boxes, even if you can pay, it's no go. Good news about the landlord though.

Exciting times ahead softstuff! Somehow I think you'll be just fine on your bare bones frugality journey. ;):)

Stiltwalker I feel for you, especially as every issue is completely out of your hands. Sometimes when there's a crisis family members don't act appropriately. I've seen it myself, been on the sharp end of it and experienced the feelings associated with it. Some people accept and get on with things and some feel 'woe me' and deflect angst to others around them. It's difficult for everyone when those two personalities lock heads because there's no solution and I fear only bad feeling is created. I wish for your family that this period of sadness and despair is short and that your loved one is peaceful soon.

I've been spending time getting used to my new routine and the organisation needed to keep on top of things.

Today I cut little pieces of paper from christmas brochures that came through the door. Lots of patterns and textures from clothing catalogues have been cut up and stuck to my pen pot (an old toddler milk tin :rotfl: ). It looks very much like decoupage and means I can now display the pot on the wall shelf in the living room, where it's really needed. :)

Our dinner today will be a leg of lamb with mashed pots, mint sauce, veg, yorkshires and gravy.

About to knock up a cover for my laptop. I will use up some acrylic chunky yarn on a 6mm hook. Will be finished in no time. :)
  • I know I live down in the gentler southern part of the country but I've just walked Docky and the brambles and the elder bushes are actually swelling leaf buds and the Cuckoo Pint plants have unfurled the first spear shaped leaves in the shelter of the hedgerows. I also counted 22 different plants in flower in gardens in the village. Down here at least it feels as though the year is turning and spring might just be on its way.

Hi everyone, its been a busy day here in the nutty household. First thing we walked said pup to the paper shop, first outing since the operation. We dropped a paper off at mums as she isn't very well again - had chestpains last night so paramedics came out, was angina again.

We have made a major investment today, we bought a drill/screwdriver from argus, was in the sale for under £20. We also bought 2 shelves for DD to go in her room, they are these floating type. They look good when up. I also found a roller blind in wilcos in the sale. Finally the kitchen has a working blind, the last one was tied up with safety pins..

We have helped DD book a sun holiday today, its only in Yarmouth for a weekend but she is so excited. There first grown up holiday away with there puppy.
We are now sat watching the princess diaries. just me and hubby lol
