Talk as much as you like SQ, we'll all be here. Sometimes there isn't really anyone in real life you can talk to about a lot of things, especially not if the people in real life are too close to the matter.Monna a clean oven for going away? I have no idea what a clean oven looks like I think mine is held together with grease lol
I know mine is held together with grease and rust. I tried cleaning it a couple of weeks back and two knobs fell offSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Morning Toughies, I woke up at 5 this morning and just couldn't get back to sleep so I'm up and on the other side of my first cuppa! I'm waiting to see if the builder is coming today or on Monday, it will be disruptive as I don't know what he'll be tackling first, we're having windows replaced in 4 different locations in the house and then the whole bathroom replaced including fully tiled walls being stripped and plastered. I'd like him to start by replacing the tiny window in the lounge as then I can shut Docky and myself in and let it all happen freeform but He Who Knows seems to think he'll start with the bathroom window, Oh well we shall see. I'm planning on escaping on the bus to 'somewhere' as often as I'm able it's going to be noisy and mucky and we'll only have the sink in the utility room to wash in until it's done but I keep telling myself it will be lovely when it's finished, which it WILL!
DD2 finished her first week at work last night and texted to say it felt like she'd never been away but in a good way and that Zebra was so very happy going to his little nursery she's happy to be working again. I was concerned that she'd find it hard to leave him but she is a professional and a sensible woman and will always find a positive in a situation if there is a positive to be found. DD1 is back and inundated with work after just 2 days and having to sort out all sorts of unsortable happenings, I really think some weeks she should have a superwoman cloak, teaching is a thankless profession these days and looking in from the outside it seems that some folks get loaded with all sorts of tasks as they are known to 'make time somehow' and get everything done while others leave at 4.15 and just walk away and forget it all. I guess it was always like that but I worry for the health of those who 'do' all the extra work, in their own time too and at the expense of their health and social lives, real life too if I'm honest. Never mind, Mum can always go and be useful if she needs to can't I?
Nothing much planned for the next few days, the weather isn't good enough to do anything outside and I'm hating being confined indoors, still, not long and we'll start to see signs of spring and hopefully the weather will be a little better and then the great outside is there to be enjoyed. Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
17000 without power and Scotland and I'm not one of them. Whoohooo!!
Really wild night with a very worrying plane circling low for ages over us, found out this morning it was Icelandair and couldn't land at Edinburgh because of the winds. They said it got down eventually. But they said planes were being diverted all over the place even to Belfast. Next storm due later on today, and then the snow behind it.0 -

ETA glad you're okay Mar. I have a dear friend in Glasgow area, will text her in a minute and see if I get a reply!
Thinking of all of you in Scotland and the north of England/Wales, keep safe x0 -
Wondered about you too Mar, I am in the Clyde Valley and lots of fences and trees down here. We have an event on in Glasgow and lots of train disruption for clients too. I would not be travelling from Aberdeen today, even for a jolly.
One of my roof ridge tiles looks broken so a trip up the loft to assess. Ho hum.0 -
Hi everyone, a bit windy here too, but no where near as windy as Scotland has got. Puppy is asleep on his blanket on the sofa. He is definatley more perkier today. We even managed a walk around the garden on his lead. He had a little accident on the rug, a bit a wee appeared so he cried :-( bless him x
DD has an interview at the local academy for a teaching assistant role next Tuesday. She is looking for a more local apprentaship, although she has one offer, the bus fares alone will be nearly £30 a week and she should receive around £90 so quite a fair chunk plus its an hours bus ride each way. The academy is in the next town so bikeable should she wish too. Fingers crossed they like her x

OOh Nutty - what a lovely area to deliver to - but expect DH will be too busy to notice!
Windy here too - but nowhere near as bad as Scotland is getting it - I've got some thick towels on the line & hope they'll at least be dry enough to air in the TD.
Have a good day everyoneSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Soft stuff you know keeping us in dispense is naughty hee hee
Sq honestly yours sounds like mine, people use us to get what they want then drop like a stone. But you know what better now than later.
To be honest sounds awful but I'm quite keeping at arms length at the mo. Been hurt and used far too much and my children have suffered as a result.
Instead I'm much more comfortable chatting to yourselves.
My boys are off school today, think ds2 has now the same illness as ds1. In a way its a relief so I don't have to worry about ds2 getting home. It's really dark here and the winds are really strong. Seen cars driving being thrown all over.
Mar fingers crossed your electricity stays on.0 -
The weather is certainly keeping everyone on their toes. So glad all is well mardatha, I driving of you last night when it was bad here, as it will have been way worse in Scotland.
I can feel it more in this car as it's higher, rumours are that they will close per local bridge to high sided vehicles in next couple of hours so I am very glad to be hom, traffic will become chaos, and I count as high sided vehicle.
Having yet more school issues with Ds, and am close to giving up. He was threatened with the loss of todays trip to the panto yesterday which when I queried what was happening today the staff suddenly realised they couldn't do as they don't have staff left to deal with him, I was going on the trip so it was easier to let him go but of course they weren't happy they had lost their threat.
Ds16 went back to college yesterday and is off ill today, not sure he is really ill or if it's the stress of going back after the break, but I couldn't make him go just in case.
House needs huge tidy up tomorrow and all the decorations returning to the loft, will be so glad to have it gone, as I am supposed to be starting the decorating indDs10 bedroom next week.0
