Softstuff it sounds perfect, you deserve this so much. Well done for not giving up and for taking the chance.
Have woken feeling yuck, eyes streaming, noise blocked etc not good considering I have to get dd8 to dance class this morning and then I have to get this whole house turned around and tidy. It's getting me very down in its current state.0 -
Hope you feel better soon Kidcat.Spend less now, work less later.0

softstuff What exciting news :j:j:j thank you for telling us. It sounds odd that your flat will be sold furnished - I only associate that with renting. Is buying a home already furnished common in Oz?
stilty - (((HUGS))) Glad you've had a bit of a break x
kidcat Sorry to hear about more trouble at school, xx ETA Not to mention the bad cold!
Hope everyone's okay this morning, very windy here so I dread to think what it's like further north.0 -
Morning doorsteppers,
Hope you feel better soon kidcat - take DD to dance and then come home and rest for a bit. Then tidy round the very worst and leave the rest - you have lived with it I assume since Christmas so a couple more days won't harm. Don't make yourself really ill by pushing yourself too far, we know what you're like woman!
your house to be sounds ideal softstuff
slept in this morning, have been yawning all week so obviously needed it. lots to do but not rushing around. methodical styleee all the way for me.
Part of DS10's homework is to write notes about the French terrorists so we watched a lot of TV yesterday eve. Will buy our usual broadsheet today (once a week treat) and he can read that too. I don't often comment on news on here but we all followed yesterday with absolute horror. The childhood bubble has definitely burst now for DS10.
right off to juggle laundry and dishes0 -
STILTWALKER don't be too hard on the relatives, I expect they are as much in shock at the suddenness of the situation with your MIL as you are and perhaps aren't thinking about or aware of the realities and the constraints that having special children puts on you and DH as a family but just wanting it to be instantly fixable by any means they can think of and hoping that your DH will be able to find a way so their suggestions might be borne of desperation rather than actually expecting him to do it? It's such a difficult time and out of the blue like this takes collective breaths away and makes people want to take desperate measures. I hope you can find some respite by going with the small ones to your lovely supportive parents for a while, it will be nicer for the littlies to have distractions and be with their grandparents while this is all going on. Here if you need us girlie, stay strong, Love and Hugs Lyn xxx.0

Ooh exciting times ahead Softstuff am sure you will make it into a home in no time at all.
Kidcatdo what you tell others look after yourself and don't beat yourself up about the house. Do as SQ suggested and do the worst thing and leave the rest for another day it will keep xx
Very windy up here and the snow has started so trying to keep cosy and getting bits done around the house.
Keep warm everyone xx0 -
Nice bright snowy day here today, still blowy and very cold but bright0

A quick call before I shut everything down for the next week.
Softstuff: I have absolutely everything crossable crossed for you.
SQ: The very last thing you are is insensitive. Get real madam!
Lyn: Sympathies to your DD. Teaching is so much more stressful than when I started out. Although having said that, I did have reception classes of 45+ in a classroom that had been condemned in 1947. Also the children had come straight from home - no nurseries or playgroups in those days, and I was on my own - no teaching assistants either. Also materials were very short. At one time I was restricted to 20 sheets of kitchen paper a week and all pencils were worn down to the last inch. Still, they all managed to learn to read and write and we had quite a lot of fun.
Mar: hope you are still managing to batten down the hatches. I was talking to a friend in Thurso yesterday and she still had her power on - though having moved from the outer Hebrides a couple of years ago she is no stranger to bad weather.
Nutty: so glad your DH is enjoying the challenges of his new job.
Stilty: People devoid of imagination lack the ability to stand in someone else's shoes and see things from any other point of view than their own. Look after your own my love, and let the others get on with it.
Kidcat: Hope you feel better soon and don't fret about your house, it'll still be there when you can get a 'round tuit.'
I'm now off to throw a few things into a suitcase. Packing is too posh a name for it.
Try to keep yourselves well and out of trouble while I am away. I feel like I'm leaving all my children behind! How ridiculous.

Thank you all for the well wishes, that's so lovely. Really hoping this all comes good.
Kidcat, get well soon, try not to overdo it while you're rough.softstuff What exciting news :j:j:j thank you for telling us. It sounds odd that your flat will be sold furnished - I only associate that with renting. Is buying a home already furnished common in Oz?
It's not an Australian thing no. The explanation is a bit different. We live in a "holiday resort". There's over 100 flats, all independently owned, on the same piece of land with the pools and whatnot. About half the flats are occupied by owners, the other half are in what they call the "letting pool" and are rented out by the resort management to holidaymakers. So the flat doesn't have to be furnished, but if you do sell it that way (and so it looks good for holiday rental), you open it up to the market of investors in other states wanting that kind of thing too.
SQ, I find that a surprising homework for a 10 year old. Strikes me as a bit scary.
I'm up at very stupid o'clock. My stomach had already been bad with the excitement and stress, but copious amounts of shiraz last night pushed it right over the edge :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Yes I agree that the homework is a bit heavy softstuff - they are currently doing some classwork about newspaper articles and encouraged to read a broadsheet etc so the homework is an extension of that. It is only for a few of them in the top group and the teacher had a discussion with them as we did with DS at home. Its not just about the terrorists (which I worded badly) but about the whole situation. I did think it was more secondary school level but DS10 is emotionally quite mature as are the rest of his group. Schools do things so differently these days, its a constant learning curve for us parents.
After a slow start, I have done quite a bit of cleaning, tidying, laundry and the like today so the downstairs looks reasonable. I am not talking about the upstairs .... that's a whole different matter!!
We had a treat for dinner, fish and chips from the chippy. I have been good in the spending dept of late and as the car cost a lot less than I feared so we threw caution to the wind. The chippie put an extra bag of chips in accidently and we ate less than normal so I dropped a bag and a half of chips in to next door who were thrilled as the mum is poorly. She said she has some ham and coleslaw in the fridge to use up so will put together and will save her cooking. So nice when you can give someone a little surprise.
Have a fantastic time monnagran. Can't promise we will be good though0
