    Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
We have a little wind here but I think on the East coast it wont be too bad, it did turn quite cold this arvo , ive now got the fire a light and ive shut the day away.....Roll on spring Lyn...Im like you , just waiting for the first signs of spring to arrive .....

Ive finally saved enough and have ordered my shabby chic headboard for my bed , Ive been getting bits of furniture when ive got the dosh , Its taken me just over 3 years and the headboard will complete the bedroom , so everything thing is french style in white , got the bedside cabinets , 2 chests of drawers , one white carved wardrobe and a cream carpet .....Certaintly makes you appreciate and look after your stuff when it takes ages to get it all together ......

Kezlou.....Its not new but it is 4 years old , still havent made my mind up yet .........I say the same as you about friends , theres and old saying that says "theres no such thing as a friend", ive got loads of people I know but I wouldnt confide in them , I do like to be on my own alot , im never bored or lonely always got something to do in the home and outside , im well content .......
Ivyleaf ....Have you had your carpal tunnel done yet ?.....
Mrs Veg plot.....I bet you feel pampered , I put my feet in a lovely soapy warm water with my pumice stone just before tea, ooh its was lovely , my feet seem to soon get hard skin so I always soak my feet twice a week and rub them with the stone , I dont know what it is apart from one of my pet hates , but in the summer when people wear sandals etc I always look at their feet first and see how cracked their skin is make me
    shudder...........Yea I know how fussy I am ......
I hope you all have a decent weekend and be very careful if its windy where you are ...Catch you later Sheila....
My motto is " one life live it ".....:)

Sheila, It's not me with carpal tunnel, I can't remember who it is! thanks for the thought though. So glad for you that you're able to take Bo for a walk now :)

Kezlou I think part of the problem for my OH is that the cat has suddenly decided he wants to sleep at the top end of OH's duvet during the day and it's making OH snuffly at night although I brush the duvet before I go to bed (I go earlier than OH). I changed the duvet cover y'day and there was hardly any snoring from OH last night, and then I put a spare duvet cover on top of it today. I don't know why the cat's suddenly decided he wants to sleep just there when he has a nice cosy blanket at the foot of the bed, but that's cats for you!

I'm going to post my news, even though it isn't final yet, because I'm not by nature superstitious and don't want to look like I'm trying to create suspense for nothing!

Quick recap - we saw a house that was perfect, but dear (as they all are). Went to see it, had a builder friend take a look at it and he was even more enthusiastic than we were (at the bottom of the market here, there's generally a laundry list of fixes, this one aside from a small piece of guttering needing resealing is perfect). Hubby was on the phone for an hour to the bank, but no go until we sell our flat.

Aaaanyway.... we told my husbands parents about it and they looked. They've offered to lend us some money to cover the gap with the bank, just until our flat is sold. So, we made an offer on it. And we're still waiting to hear if they accept it.

It'll mean things are beyond tight until our flat sells, frankly in order to maintain a bit of safety cushion, we could be living on beans and rice for 6 months! And when we do move in, because this flat will be sold furnished, we'll have a mattress and a TV!!! Never thought I'd get a return to my student days (if only my level of energy and lack of wrinkles would come back too).

Once we do have everything resolved though, it should be possible to go gung-ho at this new mortgage to clear it well ahead of term. It's just going to take a whole lot more OS'ing.

    Evening all -

Hubby still down southshire with his mum and family but hopefully heading homewards tomorrow or Sunday. I've brought the kids up to my parents for a change of scene (well also as my poor mum doesn't have to sleep on an airbed any more nights - I did offer her my bed but then she'd have had to wake up for the boy!!) so have been plied with good alcohol, good steak and coffee and a whisky to follow. I've had a right good rant and they have (quite rightly) pointed out how lucky I am that the pillocks in question don't live closer! Poor DH is still down south - his mum is fading fast but is being very philosophical - she also understands that he needs to be back with us as my parents can only be asked to do so much. His aunt is also of the same frame of mind. The rest of his family - well words don't fail me but if I typed them then the sweary filter would take over!! I have no idea how I am going to remain civil when the time comes - they have no concept of a - the realities of life with 2 disabled children and b - the financial constraints of such a life - they seem to expect DH to be able to shell out more money than is reasonable on all sorts of things. Too complicated to go into now but suffice it to say don't think we'll be seeing much of them in the future. Not much loss from my point of view - can do without people in our lives that make any one of us feel bad, and to do that to a sibling under these circumstances is unforgivable in my book.

Will go and stop chuntering now - just making myself more cross, and nothing I can do about it from up here.

Catch you all later - Hx
  • Good evening all. It's a bit windy here it not too bad.

Sq I don't think that you have come across as insensitive at all. We all have different things going on in our lives and are lucky to have each other her to share them with.

Mardatha I'm glad that the wind has not affected you too much, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Kelzo we all have off days and this is a supportive place to share them.

I know what you mean about peoplevwith cracked heels in the summer chickens11. Some of them look really painful.

Fingers crossed all goes well with the house softstuff.

Both of the girls were at home tonight and we had another evening of playing the games that usually only come out at Christmas. DD2 finishes her antibiotics tomorrow and is much better which is fortunate as she is working tomorrow night.

Made corned beef hash with a large piece of YS corned beef which the deli counter had left whole rather than slicing. It was really tasty. Will definatly be making it again. Need to plan next weeks meals tomorrow after I have checked out the freezer. Have taken some chicken out ready to make a curry in the SC tomorrow.

I have got the sewing machine out to do some clothes repairs over the weekend. I am also thinking of starting a quilting project. I have not quilted before and it is on my to do list of skills to start to develop this year.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

exciting news softstuff - I understand all your emotions now! crossing everything for you, keep us posted.

(((((((((((stilty)))))))))) glad you had a little "break" at your parents, good food and a well needed rant. My heart goes out to you all and I am angry with you at your DH's totally inconsiderate and selfish family. Forget about them as best you can and concentrate on looking after DH, the children and yourself. That is more than enough to do. Don't worry about later, just get through tomorrow for now. xxx

Poor DD Mrs LW, her job sounds so stressful.

thanks Mrs VP - glad your DD is on the mend.

stay safe mar and everyone else. I need my bed, looking forward to snuggling down

Stiltwalker, he's probably better off avoiding some family after all is said and done. You have to take care of the kids first, if they can't see that then they're not worth dealing with.

Sheila, I have a bit of a bad foot phobia. Find it very hard to look at poorly kept feet. Can't really understand people letting it get so bad, given how painful it is if it splits.

And glad to be of service Shanks77. Oven cleaning is on the list of jobs I don't seem to get around to. That said, nor do I cook much that greases it up and if something is liable to leak or bubble over, I put a tray on the bottom. So I dare say my oven isn't that filthy. Also helps that the light no longer works, so you can't see in that well!

Well, news so far.... got a call from the agent, our offer wasn't accepted, but they met us in the middle so we've gone for it. Now enormously grateful for the reduced food we got after Christmas since it was a bit of a stretch for us.

Our offer is conditional on pest and building inspection and finance, so it's full steam ahead all round. It'll be about 3 weeks before everything is set in stone and another month before we get settlement. Edited to say: when my husband looked at this post, he said no it isn't! it's just 4 weeks total.

It has a very large garden Kidcat. And a garage. I can put fruit trees in, grow veg.... I could even one day have chickens. And a rescue dog. My mother in law, who is a keen gardener, is already planning our garden!

I'm not sure how soon it'll be homely though, we're likely to spend the first year living on the breadline to get in a bit more stable condition. But it'll be worth it, we don't really care if there's only a mattress on the floor with that sort of roof over our heads. The only thing we'll splurge on as soon as we sell our flat is the dog. We've wanted one for so long. I only had small pets as a child and we really are animal people.

I'm trying not to get too emotional about the house, especially until the contract is unconditional, but it's really more than I dreamed of.

Anyway, off to my friends 50th party now, which will give us a great opportunity to relax and celebrate.
