Hugs stiltwalker, hoping things aren't as bad as they seem. There are books dealing with illness and the like specifically for kids with sen. Try the autism range as they are particularly recommended by many.0

Thanks kidcat, will check it out - sadly I think it really is going to be bad news. But huge thanks for your quick reply as feeling a bit sh*t as answered one of those multi people chats on FB earlier to say we couldn't make a night out due to ....... and 6 so called close friends have seen our message and yet strangely no one has responded or asked how DH is!! I was almost at the point of sacking them off as I am so fed up of the lack of understanding about the kids but I had put that down to them just not understanding the impact disability has on your family life, however if there is no response to parent being ill enough to require you to travel 250 miles at short notice - well they are obviously just pillocks! - Hx0

Oh dear I have similar issues some people will never get it unfortunately. I think it's why sen parents often stop mixing outside of sen circles which is so sad. On a positive note at least your DH will be able to go without the hassle of work and arranging time off. If there's any way I can help please message me.0

Couldn't read and just lurk.
Hope the outcome is better than you fear, if not that there's sufficient time for everything.
Hugs and prayers0 -
Lots of hugs stilty and anything at all you know where I am
One thing which may help dd understand what's going on is drawing a personalised story board. Really helped us with our youngest when our very close friend died and also moving home.
We started our by drawing a picture and writing a basic sentence. For instance a few months ago my bio mum was being tested for cancer. Luckily its still in remission.
We drew a picture of Nana at the hospital. Nana in the machine Nana seeing doctors.
I'll try and find a copy for you of "social stories", its an ASD
Approach but it really is fantastic.0 -
It's so true kidcat, sen parents tend to come out of the loop and stay within certain circles. Its a shame really, as you know ive dropped a lot of people because they couldn't understand how hard it is being a sen parent or care giver.
Even those who supposedly work in the health profession don't fully understand as they are not in that situation 24/7.
But anytime stilty, hopefully hubby will be able to visit them soon.
