Thanks peeps
hi cheappy, jem and mrs vp!
glad your feeling better sheila
pooky perfect evening i say! Thats our plan for this year
sq fingers crossed will be settled soon
stilty how cute is dd, hope ds is feeling better soon x
Note to self do NOT go shopping and collect two carrier bags of prescriptions. Do NOT lean on dodgy wrist whilst using walking stick.
What a moron i am, on the plus side i'm in for the day and DS2's taxi will be bringing him home soon. Not what i wanted but at least i won't be going out in the cold.
Went to the butchers and ordered beef and chicken, wanted it for today, its a good deal two roasts for £10 and its very fresh. Butcher wasn't happy with the stock the delivery guy brought, said he rejected because it didn't look right so a new batch is being delivered tomorrow instead after 3pm. DS1 can collect that after school for me.0 -
Happy Monday all.
Been a good one in terms of OS for me. I feel on top of the house and routines, shopping lists and meal plans. My stocks are at an acceptable level and all is well with the world now I can have a routine again. Girls been off school today due to teacher training day.
For lunch we pulled out a few bits of frozen fish, opened a tin of peas (I pimped them with mint sauce) and had bread and butter. T'was gobbled. Had braising steak in red wine and onion/garlic/mushrooms in the SC all day. Will need cornflour soon but smells lovely! Will be mashing turnip and carrot together and have with steamed broccoli.
I have cranberry sauce to use up so thinking of adding it to a SC meat meal in the near future.
Haven't crafted at all today. I won't be either as Broadchurch is back on this evening. Now that calls for a hot chocolate0 -
Thanks Pooky, i'll be fine
It's just a combination of M.E., falling hormones (about blooming time, I'm 61!) and a recently-increased dose of beta blockers.
Lovely to see you back cheapskate
Gentle (((HUGS))) kezlou. I winced when I read about you leaning on your stick with your sore wristI hope you heal quickly xx
Fuddle your dinner sounds lovely
Well, I thought we were having the second half of a HM chicken curry from the freezer tonight, but when i went to get it out it wasn't there...couldn't think what had happened to it, then remembered that on the day I made it, i'd just served it up and put half of it in a container ready to freeze when it cooled, when DS came in from work starving, so I offered the second half of it to him
We have some gammon steaks we can have instead, but might have it with oven chips as I don't think I can face mashed spuds againHad them the last two nights. Still, we're lucky to have them to get bored with iYSWIM!

Hi all.
Sheila: So glad for you that you are pain free and life is looking up at last. It's been a long time coming for you so fingers crossed that 2015 will be your year.
Lyn: Oh you lucky thing! I adore primroses and when I had my cottage my garden, paddock and woods were full of them. They started about this time of year and lasted until April. They all died off just in time for the paddock to be carpeted in wild orchids and the woods to be full of bluebells. I will never have that again but count myself blessed to have enjoyed it for 16 years.
Mar: I think something must have happened at the end of last year because for the first time ever our household account was overdrawn at the end of December. Heavens to Betsy! We didn't even 'do' Christmas. Needless to say belts have been tightened and hair shirts are the uniforms of the day.
Possession: How about a cinema evening - a couple of DVDs, popcorn and icecreams duing the performance and fish (or sausages) and chips out of paper at the end.
Nutty: What a good start for your DH. This might have been a blessing in very heavy disguise. You are a good person and for good people things have a habit of all working out for the best in the end. It doesn't always feel like that when you are in the middle of a trauma, but you can often see it when you look back.
Fuddle: You slay me! Do you ever just let things drift? As a born drifter myself I am awestruck by your energy and determination. Bless you.
Well, things are rapidly returning to what passes for normal chez-nous. We had our 'At Home' day on Saturday which was very well received. I wish I had counted up how many people came through but it must have been about 50/60. I thought some of them were never going home.
The house looked great and one lady asked me if I had any trouble getting domestic help. My face must have been a picture because she hastily added that surely I didn't do it all myself. I muttered darkly that 'I have my system.' A good job she didn't know that my system consists of bundling stuff into cupboards and drawers and shutting the doors firmly.
Next week we're off to spend a few days with my DB and SiL so I am coasting this week. As if that was anything new. Managed to make 2 sausages plus a few surprising additions, stretch to lunch for the two of us. I think it was a sort of toad in the hole, but wouldn't be too sure.

Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
Good idea Monnagran. And shame she didn't offer any domestic help!
Last day of the hols rather ruined by remembering we needed to go and get the bus pass and finding we had to queue for an hour and a half for it. Ho hum.0 -
MONNAGRAN you have the right of it when you say that many times in life you can make sense when you look back at what was a complete nightmare while it was happening and know that the changes it precipitated in your life turned out to be good in the long run. It's surprising how often that happens. Someone said to me once that scheme and manipulate life as much as you want to, God makes his own plans and that's what happens!0

Kezlou ouch hope you mend quickly
Sheila glad you are finally pain free must be such a lovely feeling for you now you can make plans and feel certain you will enjoy them to the full.
Ivyleaf also hoping you are ok
Nutty so pleased your hubby has found work so quickly and appears to be something he enjoys it makes such a difference if you like your work
Well this is the start of me starting to work on using up the contents of my cupboards and
D freezers as oh my have I got a lot of stuff. I think there may be some interesting meals ahead but apart from some salady things shouldn't have to buy much in the next couple of months. Also not going to be short of toiletries for a verrrrrry long time lol.
Sorry if I have missed anyone out but have a dodgy hug:grouphug:
Right going to get ready for work have a good evening folks xxx0 -
Went to Mr M today. It looked as if the staff abandoned it on Christmas Eve and three of them came back today.
There were trolleys full of the new offers abandoned in the aisles. Most of the shelves were empty The fruit and veg looked like it had been there since Christmas Eve and most of the offers were the same as before Christmas. The January sale was broken (it consisted mainly of broken items)
There were no staff on any of the counters and three checkouts open. Frozen food was still turkeys and no chickens. YS stuff was one large pork pie for 19p, Of course I bought it.
How did I manage to spend 49p short of £50? At first I thought much like Mar did but then I started to put thing together with the things I have at home and gave up counting at 16 meals. I did OK.
If you are very fond of fish like my DS and I, I recommend you go get some frozen fish there was lots of lovely fish at half price. I was only restrained by our rather small freezer.
I hope by now you have found your shop was not as bad as you thought Mar.
On the whole I think as a group we have not started the year badly. There were bound to be a few of us with colds and other viruses. Mine is my first this winter. After 23 colds and 16 other viruses or minor infections between September and March last Winter I can't complain.0 -
Urghh feel like death lukewarm so dragged myself to bed for a rest. Oh is making me a hot chocolate and promptly glared at me when I told I went tob the shops.
Maggie fingers crossed the good keeps going
Sheila yay pain free!!!!!
Thanks ivy, honestly its a daily occurrence for me, I fall up the stairs never mind down lol
Oh my word just had oh squealing, me thinks the kitties are jumping on his back again lol can you tell its feeding time haha
Been in tears all day, so more resting tomorrow morning. Then dragging my hefty carcass to court to take forms in for dad. Think im just of being in pain to be honest.0 -
Well - the year is going downhill already. MIL has been complaining of stomach pains for a while now -she claims only since she was prescribed the diabetes meds late last year but she seems to forget she started tests 2 years ago and then stopped them as they were 'horrid', but really she didn't want to know if there was something wrong - it's got to the point where she can't ignore it any longer and she has had tests which show a large mass (doc today thought cancerous ovarian cyst which has spread to her liver but will be having further tests tomorrow to confirm). Looking like it's going to be a how long situation so currently working out how to get DH down south to see her for at least a little time, no idea how we are going to approach this with DD - she gets emotional over the least little thing so going to be a hard one. DS, well I'm not entirely sure what gets through and what he understands - so.... I don't know.
Offloading here, sorry all but I need to be strong for DH, who has been somewhat tearful despite both of us having a 'bad feeling' about the likely outcome of tests. In some ways - at 81 - it's not quite as horrible as other losses in both our lives of people who were much too young to be taking that path, but for all her faults and annoying traits - she is his mum and he loves her dearly. The other thing that is playing on his mind is that now his Dad will have to go into a care home as at 86 with dementia he will not manage. Realistically he'll probably be fine, there is a nice place local to where they are now and darling PIL will probably know no different within a couple of days, I can just see him watching the same thing over again and flirting (mildly and charmingly, not weird old manly) with the staff, but it is not what DH hoped for his Dad.
MIL has another appointment tomorrow which should tell us more and give us a better idea of what sort of timescale we are dealing with. Oh lordy - wish me luck.
On a good note the builders arrived this morning to start the ramped access at the back so when DD gets her super whizzy new chair we can start to work on her being able to get herself into and out of the house independently.
Take care all - Hx0
