Mar I think an awful lot of things went up just before Christmas. I think they know they can get away with it before Christmas. I am sure they do. I refused to buy anything I knew had just gone up.

As a result I can do us a piece of fish each for tea, or a ham and pasta bake and that is it. I still have a fridge full of food but it is mostly left over sweet stuff. I think I just made my last Christmas trifle this year. I have not had a big enough appetite to eat it. It will mostly go in the bin.

Only when we have visitors will I make one. I have got a big pan of soup in the slow cooker. I hope I will eat that.

One thing that was cheaper was our favourite Italian ham DS is making ham sandwiches now.

One thing I find that gets DSs room cleaned is to tell him we don't get dinner until he has finished. I don't exactly get hungry so I can wait. He gets very hungry, but so he should at his age. I think the not seeing what needs doing is partly a male thing anyway.

oh I am so glad I have not had the coming in in the middle of the night drunk thing with DS. I had the never knowing where he was and what time he would be in from his brother from 15. DD was always very good at letting me know where she was and when she would be in.

Is it just the mobile phone that makes the difference?

It is a lovely day today. I wish I could have put my washing out. Would be nice to do what they used to do and hang it across the back street.

With the washing my rule is if you don't bring it down when asked you don't get it done. Being just two of us means we wait to long between washes if we don't was together.

Anyone got any ideas how I get DS to order some shoes. He thins they will do. He has not had any new shoes for over 4 years. He walks a lot always has done. You can imagine there is not much sole left.

I have accumulated £120 in my paypal account from surveys. I don't need anything. I am sure he will not spend it all. I will have some left for some knitting yarn.

I've never had pheasant MrsVP, enjoy :)

Not much happening in the OS department as have been working alot. DH has taken on the meals which has been salad with a side and sausage/beef burger and is stood ironing while I am on my break :D I know I am spoilt.

Off out again at 4 and will wave goodbye to my last long slog weekend at 10pm. :)

I am currently making big pom poms with all my stash of acrylic yarn. I'm using the quick 'wrap around my hand, tie off and cut method' then when I have enough I will sew them to make a rug for the girls bedroom.

It is pay day for me tomorrow so I can order some more wool to continue with my crochet cardigan. It's been on the back burner over Christmas as finances were needed for that.

I will be putting on my OS apron tomorrow and firmly planning my new routine and meal plan. I will be writing ideas for packed lunches and concocting new shopping lists to reflect. I will fly and and clean through the house and make sure everything is in it's place.

Also my car is desperate... desperate for a wash. It's getting really embarrassing now. I am, however, wishing for there to be rain all day tomorrow :rotfl:

    Catch up tomorrow :)

    fuddle, enjoy your new role.

My washing is in, it is half dry so has gone on the airer and it smells really fresh. The sun went in just after I posted but it is a little breezier now.

I walked to Ald! and got the shopping but the large tub of yogurt split on the way home and my wally trolly had a terrible mess in the bottom. It has been washed and is presently drying. I do hope it doesn't smell!

Got a ham hough on to boil, will make lentil soup later.

A list of special things would be lovely Pooky.
Just off to see if I can get any last minute bargains in Mr T. Apparently somewhere in the country they are selling packs of Lurpak for 18p each, which would be worth having.

Mardather....I always think it depends on what items you are buying to how much you spend, sometimes I spent £40 just for me to feed , but when you look at the shopping ive just bought I may have washing powder, fabric softener , toilet rolls , or cheese and ham , thats the stuff that costs so much , but you have to have it as Lyn says, it do depend on that weeks shopping what you need.......Youve spent it now so you must eat it and enjoy it.........:D..Just read your post about your son having an op for plantar fasciitis and it didnt work for him , what a hell of a op to go through for it not to work, how do he manage his pain..?..God I feel for him ......

Mrs Veg Plot....I had my sinuses operated on last April, thank god for that as it was a very successful operation, hope when you dd have hers done she too will be so much better.......
Its was a heck of a frost last night and its still on the chickens shed roof , mind you its in the shade so no chance of that melting .......
I would actually like to see some snow , yes I did say snow......I think you have to have a bit of snow in the winter to know youve hadf a decent winter ....I do notice the nights are getting lighter now , which I welcome.......Catch you all later...Sheila

Well no cheap butter but lots and lots of bargains, and shed loads of large pots of double cream for 30p, so I picked up 8 to make butter.
A man doing the same told me if I leave it on the side till wednesday it won't go off and then I'd just be able to shake it to make butter. Anyone know if that's right? As obviously that's a lot less hassle for this amount!

Feeling a little sad as kids and DH back to school/work tomorrow after a long break. I have hibernated virtually the whole time and need to tackle things in the 'real world" now. Still I do need to get on with stuff and can't get as much as done with them home making a mess and calling mum x times a day. The tree, decs and cards are also down. I liked them up and now I like the 'extra space'.

Don't be so hard on yourself mar - you are a thrifty lass generally and I bet a lot of your extra spend was down to simple price rises so don't you dare not eat that food!

I was expecting moans about dinner this eve and almost dreading serving it up. I bunged a YS pork joint in the slowcooker with lots of veg and wrinkly apples but didn't realise I had picked up an apple woodsmoked joint or something like that. I thought my concoction tasted a bit strange and wasn't overkeen, it had a pretty strong flavour. To my utter surprise DH and kids especially loved it.

Bit worried about DH, he has been in and out of the loo a lot lately and I think he may have been sick last night. When I ask him if he's ok, I get a cheery yes. Usually he would tell me any symptoms if he was poorly, we are not shy about discussing bodily functions! He has a lot on at work, stressy stuff, more responsibility etc so I am hoping it's "just" anxiety. Not like him to not tell me hmmm.

Yes SQ DH is back to work today and very down about it last night. Doesn't help that he was so busy before xmas and will be again. I hope your DH is OK.

Good morning all, OH has gone to his new job. He rang at 8.30 to say he is with someone in a lorry just watching for the day. They have 10 drops and then lots of collections. He is so happy, he knew lots of other people there and they were all glad to see him and know he has another job. We filled in the forms yesterday for the redundancy pay, or I should say I did as OH has no idea what to put and gets far too stressed about it all. Will post it recorded delivery in a bit.
I have this week off from work and I intend on doing nothing much, might be having a nip out with both DD but that's it. Wednesday is doggy vet day, he is being snipped. On the 19th we are starting puppy classes, fingers crossed he is having a good day. If not I hope someone there can tame him, he now growls at everyone. Yesterday he ate on of OH trainers, new ones as well. He even tries to steal food, even tho he has biscuits in his bowl.
The vet thinks he is going through his teenage years and is being a rebel. He just likes to have his own way all the time.

Well I am going to get showered and dressed. Might even have a quick nip around tidying up, take care all x
