    Good morning all

Thinking of you today Sheila with your op, kidcat with your meeting and mrswhite - last day. Fuddle - sending positive thoughts your way, keep that chin firmly up.

Hope you get what is owed to you Possession, the cheek of some people. Still the stamp duty is excellent news.

Sorry to have all the people with indigestion and similar conditions. Healthy eating seems to be the key for all health issues (along with the other obvious stuff)

Softstuff, good post-op check then. Hoping a complete recovery is speedy for you.

Hope you have a better week shanks.

Feeling a bit grotty and worn out but in a calm, content mood. I took my friend's little one to/from school yesterday as older sibling was unwell. Today they are all ill poor things - hoping they haven't passed it to me.

Planned to use my 2nd alldidees voucher straight after school run but forgot the voucher! Took all my concentration getting boys out of the door this morning, DS10 is not good at getting up these days. Definite adolescent behaviours from him - the good, the bad and the occasional ugly! So home to sort a few bits and just had a coffee and out in a mo before I get too cosy indoors. It is grey and wet, I have lots to do indoors and I don't need any shopping urgently - but I am not wasting that voucher!!

Fuddle, you don't need a tagine dish to make a moroccan stew, as much as they'll have you think so. A pyrex dish with a lid'll do just fine. Heck cover a casserole dish with foil if you have to. And if you don't have "chipotle paste" do you have chilli sauce? Use that with a pinch of sugar. Or even some chilli flakes and a bit of oil will substitute more or less. Unless of course you're entering masterchef, in which case disregard everything I ever said.

As I think I may have mentioned previously, about half of my cookery is made up of substitutes. It seems to work just fine.

Fuddle - a Tagine lid just collects the steam from the food being cooked and returns it to the dish so it stays moist. Anything with a well fitting lid does just as well - I always do mine in the slow cooker anyway :)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Excellent. Worth knowing, thanks softstuff and silvasaver :) I always look over tagine recipes but some of them sound lovely!

I've put a chilli in the SC for today. But about to go jiggle my menu plan to try out a lamb tagine... most probably SC and renamed stew ;)

Mrs D we were low priority with the council for ages. But i think the system is slightly changing. I know its not the best but phone and ask for an appointment. Describe everything thats happened and how your hubby has been laid off work with depression. This alone should bump you up the queue, but tell them everything including debt etc as it all counts with raising your band. So instantly you have medical, social and financial reasons. the only we got this house is because we rose slightly due to my health problems.

    Kidcat that blumming school :mad::mad::mad::mad:
Fancy doing that to him it desn't help[ in anyway shape or form it just makes the situation worse. Fully agree with you keeping him though, have to admit i would and have done the same thing. Instead i taught him at school till situation was resolved.

SQ just thought sometimes if have indigestion i have hot milk with honey and cinnamon. Don't know why but its seems to help.
Kittie great ideas didn't think help seeds were so easily digestible. VJ i try to reduce amount of wheat, but dairy no chance i love milk in my tera. Really should just have soya milk as i like it anyway.

Been so lethargic past few days (weeks), stupidly collapsed and fell down the stairs and knacked my back up. On the plus side OH has been painting the front room. So its just the one long wall and glossing to do! All sorted for chrimbo.
Won't have a carpet down but at least we can find a rug instead which will more homely.

I decided to escape the house yesterday and walked all of five minutes to my friends house. Well and truly exhausted, she was knackered to so we sat sorted out jewelry and priced it ready for the fundraiser on saturday. It was actually just nice and relaxing sitting in her warm home, having snuggles off her kitty and laughing away. Had lunch there too. DS1 came to retrieve me when he finished school. I was told walking without and its dark. He's 14 and 5ft 11 so no point arguing with him. My friend is very fond of him and fed him sweets and top gear while we chatted/ and he watched top gear. DS1 knows what i'm like so likes to make sure i'm safe and well. Absolutely freezing yesterday, he basically carried me home and told me off saying next time use your stick! Little monkey also let out my secret of forgetting to eat so i now i have my friend telling me off lol. I'm always on her case about not eating she works long hours and hubby work away so only eats on the weekend or if we make her. So yep i had to make a promise of eating breakfast. Which i have two slices of toast and a cuppa.

OH picked ds2 up from school after work and made greek salad, hot chorizo, ham, feta cheese and wraps with plum chutney salad dressing. It was delicious all of it was demolished.

Tonight back on with stew i think, unless we go to mini con tonight. If we do we might have something there. Think we paid £10 last time for four hot meals with 2 rounds of drinks. Nice and cheap.

Now just waiting for dad to answer the phone so i can see about going over there and checking his medication and clothes out. Dementia nurse called me to check if his blood pressure tablets are the higher dosage. She lovely and said not to worry if they not as hes hot due to start them till 5th January.

Think i slept on and off for about 12 hours yesterday  Absolutely unheard of for me, i only sleep between 2 -4 hours sleep per night usually. Must have needed it.

Funny everybody talking about diets today... I have gone GF in desperation. I have a hiatus hernia and GERD but besides that my stomach just seemed to explode with acid every time I ate. I got such a surprise, because its totally fine now. GF porridge and lactofree cream - awesome. Staying sort of paleo with GF seems to be the answer for me.
  • Fuddle, re the Tagine. If you have an old enamelled dish with the dimpled lid that would do?

Hope it went OK with the school Kidcat.
Kezlou your DS is quite right bless him, you have to look after yourself in order to be able to look after everyone else.
Well the money has gone in, albeit not the right amount but not far off. Hopefully that will be the last I hear about it. Definitely feels like a lucky escape. I have been getting a few more articles to do freelance so with luck that will slowly build up.
DS off sick from school today and worried he will miss karate grading on saturday. He's only 2 belts away from black belt now so takes it all quite seriously!

hope your little man is feeling better tomorrow.

well not going over dads till later, his meds have been sent to me via the chemist and alls well.

my friend isn't cleaning at dads today, his idea as he has a cold. Within the past two hours, he must have phoned about 20 times (literally) utterly confused about everything and asking when cleaner is coming. Poor thing, i swear i hate dementia.

Just put a load of washing on, got the wet stuff on the airer and the heating has just gone on , totally exhausted now.

going to make a hamper up for him and fil in law i think, chutneys, sauces, tea, that kind of thing. I already get shopping in for dad, but he forgets to eat. If i put fresh food in, it will go off, instead he appreciates tunnocks cream cakes, tins of soups of soup, tins of fruit etc Not as good as fresh but the main thing is they all have some vitamins and minerals in which we all need.

Kezlou, it might not just be his cold making his dementure worse, urine infection's cause confusion, and with a cold might not be drinking enough, so a call to his doctor's to see what they think might help, just in case.hth
