Softstuff - take it easy and get well soon.

Glad your appointment with the Paediatrician went well SpikeyH.

Such a shame your appointment has been changed Sheila - still the quicker it's done, the quicker you can get back to normal and drive, see DH etc again.

Got tons done today, very pleased with myself. Looking forward to a soak in the bath later and a good read of a book I am hooked on in bed.

fuddle hotter also do good slippers that support. You will look at the price and think  but I have two pairs I have had 9 years and 10 years. The ten year old ones are slightly worn at the heel and the 9 year old ones are in perfect condition. Imagine Crocs in suade. I think they were well worth it considering I have been retired over 8 years and wear them a lot. Though they are too hot for very hot weather.

Hope you have someone to take you to see your husband on Christmas day Sheila. I am sure your family will ask.

Sympathies to all those with ops to look forward to.

Fuddle: Do get some really comfy shoes. When you are on your feet all day it makes a real difference. I hate trying to buy shoes, my feet are almost square. Herring boxes without topses would suit me very well.

LYN. give the old boy a sloppy kiss from Auntie Monna.

A really frustrating day today. I had so much planned but the Rev had a long and very tricky letter for me to write. It took me hours because my PC decided that it knew far better than me what I wanted to do. It kept switching me from the page I was working on to somehing I had finished with days ago. I finally got it finished and as I was saving it the page suddenly went blank, the desktop appeared and chummily told me that it was logging off. WHAT!!!!!????

We finally had lunch at about 3 o'clock.

I am still trying to catch up.

As you are seeing a hospital physio you can ask to be referred to the Orthotist who assesses and issues orthotics to wear in your shoes. They are best custom made for you and on the NHS one can only get one pair at a time. However as they can cost £3-400 privately made it could be worth a go. I had such appalling knee problems following a massive arthritic flare up within 72 hours of a flu jab some 4 years ago I went through all this. It was very helpful as are the people at the Hotter shop. Although I can cycle well enough I am unable , even for a few hours, to walk / wear shoes without orthotics ( and unfortunately walking poles or a stick) so remain very grateful to a particularly helpful physio. Hope that helps and all the best with your exercises etc. Rosanna

I wear custom orthotics Fuddle and presently love hush puppies. You can get some that have decent support, yet the leather is nice and soft still. DM's used to be wonderful for me before the orthotics too though and I know my mother swears by hotter shoes. Best of luck with the exercises, they can be a pain, but you'll get there in the end.

Chickens/Sheila, sorry to hear about the moving of your op. It's very inconvenient. Is there anyone who can take you to your OH? Even if it were just a short visit.

Kidcat, I don't know how you keep going, really I don't. If I could send you all spare energy I would.

Thanks for the well wishes, I still seem to be progressing fine. Only up once in the night, back to sleep ok. Felt like I'd been kicked when I woke up and all painkillers had worn off, but I've had worse. I could have toughed it out without another painkiller, but thought balls to that, took one and put my feet up! Hubby is on pamper me duty and thanks to MIL dropping food off yesterday, we'll never have eaten so well.

Not a great day for me today still going through rubbish at work and struggling to find anything remotely positive to look forward to. There's usually something I can find to focus on to keep me going but I just can't see it right now. Like I want to run away from it all but can't
Sorry for offloading on here to complete strangers. Just feel like I have to get it out or I'll reach breaking point.
One small positive is that I made some Parkin yesterday, I lost my enthusiasm for baking a while ago and enjoyed being in the kitchen last night.
Hugs to those in need. I'm off to drink some tea and watch West Wing on my ipad. Night MSE land
  • Mrs LW & Docky, the humans had Elkhounds before me. The oldest Elkhound had "Canine Cognitive Dementia" well that's what it's called over here. Just don't move the furniture or change his routine.

The tablets for CCD are similar to the tablets they give Alzheimers patients. Do good for a while, don't reverse the disease, just ease the symptoms.

    Good Vibes to Docky.

Have a gentle virtual hug from me MrsDWhite. I understand the black hole that work can sometimes feel. There is light at the end of the tunnel, it's just sometimes it's round a corner or you have to chip away at a landslide first.

I had the most wonderful surprise today. A floral display delivered with a get well soon message from my husbands boss and wife. If every boss was like my husbands boss, we'd all go to work happy. It made me a bit teary, I've never had flowers delivered from a florist before and I've never been treated even remotely like that by previous employers. And my neighbour came by with chocolates too. I feel so spoiled.

mrsdwhite Sending ((HUGS)) to you, may you find the extra strength and courage you need to get you though this bad patch x

wondercollie Lovely to "see" you :) How are things? And how is your OH enjoying retirement? as for you, I hope you're not working too hard.

MrsLW I hope the tablets help the Dockling, dear old boy.

chickens -- sorry to hear your op's been moved :(

Goodness, what a wet and gloomy morning. The sort of morning when you open the curtains and wonder why you bothered as it hasn't made a blind bit of difference! Oh well, the solstice is drawing ever nearer, then we can loook forward to longer daylight hours again :)
I have a doc's appt this morning to see how my blood pressure's doing, and another this afternoon to get my hair cut. Hopefully it'll stop raining at some point!

Sheila sorry about your op, seems to be a recurring theme doesn't it?!
Hope you're alright Mrsdwhite, we're always here to help if we can. Sometimes, quite frankly, life sucks.
I start my new (tiny) job on Monday, the trial went OK yesterday. Going to look at a house in a minute and then I must knuckle down to the business of packing since this is my last child-free day. Would be good to get lots done so if you see me on here tell me off.
