Have been thinking of you and Docky on and off all day - what a relief - hugs to all.

  • So glad Docky will be ok, MrsLurcherWalker. We worry about our pets as we do family members, yet they can't speak to tell us what they feel.
  • Awww some lovely posts lately.

So glad Docky is just getting dafter with age - more fun and challenging times ahead for you Lynn. I wonder if our cats, one in particular, are going the same way - they do make us laugh and difficult to be cross with them as we all adore them.

Enjoy your shopping trip tomorrow mcculloch.

I have got nowhere with DS7's costume, just haven't had time today though found a belt to help a friend with her DDs. DS10 is sorted at least. If push comes to shove (and it might well) DS7 will make do with an old batman PJ top (bottoms are too short!) I over heard a couple of other parents saying they will make do or buy character PJs so they can be worn after. Much more sensible. I am too tired to stress.

Monna - you are a tonic! Little Miss Stilty as well with her comments about the people who worry. What a fab bunch on here.
  • kidcat, I will be fair to Errant Husband, he was well behaved at the Paediatrician's today and asked sensible questions (could Paed do a letter in support if the school won't ask for the LEA's Autism support peeps to come and see how best to support DS2, did Paed think it a good idea to ask a local PCSO to have a chat with DS).

Which makes me thing it's the food EH's also got issues with. And the girlfriend doesn't cook from scratch, so most the food over there is high fat/sugar/additives.

I like the idea of asking the consultant to put the stuff in writing to him, thank you - I'll talk to her about starting that.

ivyleaf, thank you. No, I don't mind :o - someone else suggested it recently and I looked at the NHS direct info about prader-willi syndrome, and it's only the food that matches that, and none of his medical people have felt it needed thinking about. I think it's a combination of my family's addictive personalities, early exposure to the not so good foods that set up a demand in his body for them, and the sensory side of autism giving him no 'getting full now' signs he recognises. Plus, it got worse when he was trying to stop sucking his thumb, then EH left us at the same time... Poor little sprat.

MrsLurcherwalker, thank God for vets indeed! Hoping Docky responds well to the supplement.

One of the preschool staff asked me today if we'd be doing a cake stall on Friday for Children in Need (yes) and if she should get notes ready to ask parents to send in donations, so I said no, but the staff can make cakes. She's so excited about dressing up days and was going out tonight to buy a pudsie onsie - I suggested she use last year's pudsey onsie and donate the money instead.

I'd ordered heavy duty curtain tracks to get the door curtains up in the hall and they came today so I'll have the house feeling cosier by the weekend. In between baking cakes for preschool and for the Scouts jumble sale.

I'd asked EH to drive us to the Paediatrician rather than taking 2 cars. (And because I didn't want to drive on the estate where Children's Centre that we saw him at today is. It's not unsafe, but all the houses and roads look the same, and I was worrying about getting lost!) But his driving is so stressful that I wished I hadn't - luckily, DS and I managed to stop feeling car sick before we actually saw the Paed. He was lovely, very calm and interested in DS, which is of course his job, but some don't make the children feel they are interested in them. DS and I both felt positive when we came out.
  • What a relief Lyn! I hope he will be OK on the medication.

Monna I seem to remember Br*t*sh G*s are only sightly less stupid than Np*wer. What Br*t*sh G*s wanted to charge us just under £32 for SSE charged us 37p for. They thought I would not notice. SSE are supposed to be the most expensive .

Apologies for not posting earlier but what a massive relief that Docky is not in pain, and it's befuddlement causing his symptoms. Bless him.
Treatments in this area have come on in leaps and bounds in recent years, which is lovely. Animals now have the chance to grow old and grey gently with no sense of helplessness for owners.

I always seemed to manage to avoid having to pick up needle and thread where costumes were concerned, which was just as well, as my skills in this area are not the greatest.
We also moved around, changing schools a few times, which meant that last year's prize-winning costume (acquired for nothing s/h) became this year's prize winning costume in another country/region.

Tomorrow I dose myself with painkillers and get on a bus for the first time in a year. I haven't really had the need to go anywhere by bus as I shop locally as much as possible and also online but I'm really quite ready to investigate shops I haven't seen for a while. I'm meeting up with a young-ish friend who used to be one of my students.
The town I'll be in is a twin town of ours, another new town, but whereas our town centre was sold to private developers who have no interest in bringing in national name shops, theirs wasn't and consequently they have lots of choice that we don't have. Particularly the bargain stores... B&M, HB, X-Catalogue, Officer's Club, Poundworld...
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • Morning everyone.

I've not been posting as I'm having crazy browser issues but I had to log in to see how Docky got on.

Big hugs to everyone, especially the Docky

Back from hospital, safe and sound. What a contrast to previous ops under general anaesthetic (in England including a particularly bad appendectomy). They really were wonderful folks (must send them a nice card when I feel up to it).

I have good painkillers, but may feel worse tomorrow as bruising comes out. Have 3 very neat scars and a couple of bits less than I went in with! Astonished frankly so far at my condition, but then even the staff were surprised. I guess Softstuff is tough stuff!

Mccullogh, be careful not to get too carried away with the bargains at B&Ms and Home Bargains and end up with too much to comfortably carry. If I visit England the contents of my return suitcase owe a great deal to those shops! Recently I had to buy dental floss here (having run out of my Home Bargains supply for 2012!) and shuddered at the price difference.

  • Morning Toughies, aren't you all so nice? bless you for caring and sharing that you do I'm humbled at so many wonderful supportive messages and that you all cared about the outcome of the vet visit for that hound. As is the way of things he slept through last night, he got up for walkabout a couple of times and then settled in his armchair and slept until daylight.....I on the other hand spent most of last night on the sofa watching him sleep!!! Aren't human beings odd??? We start his treatment today, it's given with food so he'll have it at lunchtime with his turkey and I'll let you know if it has any effect, fingers crossed.

SOFTSTUFF glad your hospital visit is done and dusted and hope you are still comfortable and heal very quickly, well done you.

That Zebra is crawling, he finally figured out how to move forwards and not backwards and Dd says he has little pink knees at night when he has his bath. He's so much happier now and apparently extremely fast, I think I'll have to Zebra proof the lounge for when he next comes to visit. Have yourselves a lovely day, even though it's grey and damp here my day has sunshine built in, Lyn xxx.
