Hi,
Just to let you know that I'm still around. We are all 'Remembranced' out here, and all the poppy stuff has been packed away until next year.
Now I can start getting ready for Christmas in a big way. I aim to get most of it done by the end of November so that December is clear for all the church events, carol singing, multitudinous turkey lunches and rying to have a bit of Christmas at home this year. We've not managed it for the past three years but I'm really trying to do something lovely this year.
Lyn: all my thoughts are with you and Docky.

Well Npower called me a liar again this morning and insisted they took a reading, on a day when I was at a hospital, and that it is at least 2000 units less than the reading I gave them when we moved it. I wish I had kept the original reading then I would know exactly what we have used.
I had enough so I joined the cheap energy club. Guess who was at the top of the list as the cheapest? Well I took the third down. Second one had a similar warning about bad customer service. Mind you anyone has to be better than Npower.
I used to have the same problems with school and meetings two or three hours notice. Cancelling 5 minutes before the meeting, when you had taken a day off. Expecting you to go to the rescheduled on the next day.
In the end I went to a meeting with my pager and it went off in the middle of the meeting what did they expect.
Lyn are you OK.0 -
ivyleaf, thank you
- it doesn't help my weight either while the poor lad is so food obsessed - if he's already eaten and sees me eating, he wants more food, so I have to hide to eat and shove the food down quickly so he won't see...
kidcat, we've tried having EH at the meetings, but he actually makes it harder for DS by snapping at him all the time whenever DS fidgets; so the Livewell consultant, DS and I all agreed it works better for DS without him, as DS isn't getting too stressed out to listen. EH is overweight himself but will only lose the weight if the fitness fairy comes and sprinkles magic fairy dust on him that will give him a six pack that he can keep while still eating junk food.
And here are some self esteem hugs - ((kidcat, you are awesome))

Possession, that's excellent! I can understand her not interviewing anyone else if she knows you well enough to know you are the person she wanted, and suspect you may find your hours go up quite regularly.
We're wearing pyjamas at preschool on Friday - Children in Need don't seem to have sent out many reminder emails this year though as we only realised this morning that it was this week  so quickly put a notice up and told all the parents as they brought kids in/collected later. We did a superheroes theme the other year, but do prefer pyjamas as all the children have pyjamas anyway, and staff can usually manage something respectable and pyjama-y without it costing much (leggings and a baggy tshirt are fine).
DS2 decided he wasn't going to his afterschool club tonight, or going to Errant Husband's as he wanted to spend time with DS1 before going to Scouts. I hadn't thought about how much DS1's work hours are affecting DS2 not seeing him, but after playing lego with his big brother, he quickly got ready for Scouts and was well behaved there - very proud and told him so! It probably helped not having been to the club as well, so will have to do some thinking.
I used the shopping trolley to take the second lot of jumble to Scouts, instead of using the car for it all last night.0 -
Good Vibes to Docky and Mrs. LW from the Collie!0

Thank you spiky. As for EH making the meetings worse, maybe ask the consultant to follow up with a phone call or letter to him spelling out his responsibility. Poor DS, deserves full support of all this around him
Possession so pleased the interview went well, I guess she knew you and knew she was going to give you the job.
Nurse Maggie, I have never found an energy company with good customer service to be honest, I find them all rubbish.
Softstuff, we have real issues with this all the time, costumes required at last minute is one of my biggies, I simply don't have time to make them in a day so end up buying something to be stuffed in cupboard and never used again.0 -
Co op Energy has been brilliant for me.0

Haven't had time to post much lately but try to keep up when possible. Just popping up to to send hugs and best wishes to Lyn and Docky from all of us. We had a similar, long chat yesterday evening with senior vet about 14 year old puss cat with thyroid problems - waiting for blood results before deciding whether to persist with medication or go for surgery. Hope some light is shed on Docky's problems and that he is contented and comfortable.0

(((HUGS))) Lyn and Docky, thinking of you x
SpikyHedgehog - it must be so hard for DS2 and for you ((HUGS)) If you don't mind my asking (tell me to mind my own business if you do), does he have Praader-Willi Syndrome (sp)? sorry EH is so unhelpful
kidcat I agree with spiky, you are indeed awesome
I texted DD2 last night to ask if she too had had to produce superhero costumes at a moment's notice, but thankfully not. Is this to do with Children In Need? I was surprised the school hadn't asked for costumes, as they seem to do it constantly. DD2 protested in the end, after she had had to provide 6 costumes in 8 weeks. "Oh, but it's such fun for the children!" she was told.0 -
Massive Hugs for Lynn & Docky.
Alfsmum - our old cat had thyroid problems when he was 10 & I thought he was too old for the op but after about 18 months on tablets he finally needed the op & was perfectly OK. Shock was about a year later the same symptoms appeared - turns out cats have TWO thyroids & he had to have the other one removed. We went on to keep him for another 4 years. The vets were very good with him as he was an 'old boy' & kept a close eye on him so do be guided by your vet & hope all will be wellSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Just a quick post to say that I, too, am thinking about you Lynn & Docky, and sending you (((hugs))).Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0
