Mrs LW posted a brief light hearted comment on the SHTF thread this morning, so hopefully things are well. I am sure she will come back here when time permits. Strange, isn't it, how you can get attached to people and their animals even though you have never met?One life - your life - live it!0

Massive Hugs for Lynn & Docky.
Alfsmum - our old cat had thyroid problems when he was 10 & I thought he was too old for the op but after about 18 months on tablets he finally needed the op & was perfectly OK. Shock was about a year later the same symptoms appeared - turns out cats have TWO thyroids & he had to have the other one removed. We went on to keep him for another 4 years. The vets were very good with him as he was an 'old boy' & kept a close eye on him so do be guided by your vet & hope all will be well
Thanks Silvasave, vet explained about the two thyroids etc. after a year or so of twice daily tablets which are very hard to get into senior puss, we are minded to go for the surgery if bloods are ok. Anything to stop the constant yowling for food and tripping us up - vet says he knows of two owners (albeit 'older ladies'!!) who have fallen over their pestering cats and ended up with broken hips. Would be great to be med and yowl free0 -
Hi everyone
well I hope some of you got some of the sunshine I sent the last couple of days as its positively ominous here!
Well said and thank you maryb for your comments about mothers' time.
Hope your cat gets better soon whatever you decide alfsmum. Our cats are the same age so I can emphasise. Hugs to you and strokes to kitty.
Hello Dovelingplease free to pop in for a little chat if you have time.
Well today (so far) cats have been as good as gold.... hmmmm. However the run of things breaking has continued. Today its the kettle ()Dh was not impressed he had to boil water in a pan this morning. I'm not fussed, getting strange in my middle years but I am off to aaarrrrghus in a mo to buy a new one.
Strange as last night I was on the PC for a ridiculous time trying to buy some toys on 3 for 2 on aaaarrrrghus website using a good rate of cashback too. Couldn't access the site for ages and everything kept on getting stuck so had to give up in the end. Bad enough missing out on the deal but the really annoying thing is that I wasted so much time AND still have to go to the blooming store today anyway.
Today and yesterday I have been sorting, decluttering and organising - problem is I'm not finished so the place looks worse than when I started. Have several bags of kids clothes and bits to distribute.

You lot are so supportive and kind, thank you all for your lovely kind messages to Docky and to us, it's much appreciated. We have an appointment at 4.15 this afternoon just to talk things through with the most experienced vet in the practice and to see if there are options open that will help the laddy. We will listen to his advice and then come home and talk things through and make sensible and unemotional choices as to what is the very best course of action for Docky. We will let him have every chance, and the best life we can achieve for him for as long as it is possible to do so, I really want reassurance that he isn't in pain, isn't suffering and isn't going to live his days out frightened of his and everyone elses' shadow. I'll post again later on, but knowing all of you are so kindly thinking of us and giving us your support is SUCH a wonderful comfort, Bless all of you for being our friends, thank you all so much, Lyn xxx.0

Kidcat I agree with you but Npower is beyond any ones imagination.
They are as nice a pie on the phone agreeing with everything then next day they send you an email calling you a liar and saying NO.
I am hoping they stick to this reading that is thousands of units less than the reading when we moved in because they will owe me a lot of money. It serves them right if they do this on everyone and go bankrupt.
Thinking of you Lyn. :grouphug:0 -
I think I have just declared in public I intend to steal from Npower. I don't really but I may have no choice because they say they owe me more than I have paid them. They have not taken a Direct Debit since May. They have also kept giving me refunds.0

These customer services should remember that these days customers have a choice. I have documented the Rev's ongoing battle with T*lkT*lk involving irate phone calls to the Philippines. The last thing we heard was that we were to stand by for a call from the CEO. That was at the end of September and we've stood by, sat down, laid prone, danced crazily and skipped gaily. All to no avail. Never mind we have a whole new entertainment with Br*t*sh G*s now. Ain't life fun.
My heart goes out to all you parents having to provide costumes. I was absolutely pants at that. I gave up when DS1 was about 6 or 7 and as he was getting into the car to go to school he said cheerfully, "Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you, I need a donkey costume today." He did well to get to 8, never mind 45.
Today I leafed through some of the recipes I have taken down from this forum and settled on Charleston Chops. WOW! They were scrumptious. Apparently you are supposed to marinade the chops but I only decided to do them 10 minutes before they had to go in the oven. I just cooked them in the marinade and they seemed to do just as well.
Lyn: Can you feel the love?
