PIC - welcome home
Welcome to all our newbies:wave:
Stiltwalker there are loads of charities that can help with hoists etc if you need any ideas PM me
I have had a bitty day today with CAMHS appointment for DS9 and then school stuff, all irritating stuff, I emailed to request DD7 SAT exam results and got nasty reply from Head to say they would be given out with reports. I then got report and they arent included, and teacher says they wont be, as they dont want parents to have them! I appreciate they have given me the teacher assessments however my email specified test results, so I am cross that she has replied in such a nasty manner when she had no intention of doing it.:mad:
On the positive side her report appears to be good - if very contradictory, for example she achieved well above average in Maths and is desbribed by teacher as - just beginning to grasp the concepts!! Got average mark in speaking and listening yet is described as being excellent with exceptional skills!!0 -
Hi again,
Thanks nuatha and maz1964 for the tips I'm trying again and wtiting in word first to copy and paste when finished.
ArthriticOldThing I felt so frustrated and powerless and I'm not brill with technology either, it's a real love hate relationship. What a shock you've had from the tax office, could you challenge it or are you positive they are right ? I hope you manage to sort it.
Pooky so good to hear little kittie is on the mend and eating better. When our little furry princess was ill she was eating better than us and I was shopping especially for her. Trying various different cat food and poaching chicken breasts and boneless cod and plaice. She also had pate, smoked and poached salmon, sardines, tuna in spring water and ham. She's almost 20 now and although some might think me mad she's worth it. As one of the family (my cats are my children) she has helped me/us through so much over the last 18 years since we adopted her from the Blue Cross.
Well I've finally caught up and it's taken days !
Went up north to see FIL last Sunday and thank goodness we have air con in this car. It's a 200 mile trip, but we have to stop frequently for oh to get out and stretch and we couldn't wait to get back in. We usually take all the food etc with us, but this time we had Ocado deliver and I popped a few treats on for fil that he wouldn't think to have normally. He relies on cheap MW meals from Asda when he could easily afford better so I had ordered a few meals which he thoroughly enjoyed and it's inspired him to shop at M and S for a few bits. He eats very little fresh stuff, no veg and only apples, bananas and grapes so I had a huge box of organic fruit delivered which we took up with us and I made a huge fruit salad. He enjoyed it so much he asked if there was any left the following day, of course I said and dished some up. I was glowing inside as he is a man of few words and little emotion so I knew this was a success. Apples, melon, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, oranges, nectarines and pears, he certainly had his 5 a day whike we were there.
I cooked a joint in the slow cooker but think I may have over done it because it fell apart when trying to slice it. The liquid made the best gravy and we had new pots, carrots and peas, all organic and fil enjoyed it so much he actually thanked me and said how he appreciated all my efforts. I have to admit that although it doesn't seem like a difficult meal it was a nightmare trying to prepare and cookin a tiny kitchen without your own stuff and with only a 12 inch sq bit of worktop that the slow cooker needs ! It was hot and claustophobic, almost everything was dusty and needed washing and drying before use and I was internally doing my nut iykwim, but it was worth it for fil and to see him have a propper home cooked meal.
We took fil out for a trip to Arnside and had the best fish and chips since we'd been last year for his Birthday and I would recommend the chippy there if you are ever in the area. We like to take him out and he suggested we go again. He's a man of few words or emotions as I say, but he must of enjoyed himself as he was telling his carer later.
Well as good as it is to see him every 6-8 wks it's great to be home. Neither oh or his dad cope well with changes to their routine or enviromentit's all part of being on the spectrum and it's difficult dealing with oh, but it's double trouble when we are up there. I find it very tiring and stressful and it takes time ti wind down when we get home and time for oh to adjust again. Now we are back home and settled I need to get on with forms before the brown envelope reminders arrive. Deadline is mid August so I have some time yet, but it's like I have a dark cloud hovering.
Hope everyones enjoying the summer, we have at least another couple of weeks of this yet according to the weather men. Although I like hot weather I'm still staying indoors as much as poss. I seem to have no reason or inclination to fry and oh over heats v quickly. Love reading about everyones lotties and veg plots. This year we were going to restyle the garden which has yet to happen and so I planted nowt and now regret it. Never mind at least I don't need to find the energy to lug the watering can backwards and forwards every night and be on slug and snail alert so there is an upside I guess.0 -
Hi, hope you dont mind me rejoining you all.
Its been a few months and things are so much better.
I have had the surgery on my shoulder they repaired the tendon and also shaved some of the bone off. I now have to do physo on the arm for a few months as with not beening able to use it properly its very stiff.
We have moved into a bungalow its lovely, needs a bit of work but will have to wait until I have the use of two arms. Then OH and I will get on with it. Also I will be able to have a veg garden next year.
I hope everyone is well.
Hi Lyn
Glad to see you back,:), also glad you have got the shoulder done, I had both mine done a few year back very painful indeed, also had the bone shaved so the arthritis went too.:D, they called my ops, arthroscopic subacromial decompression .............Also good you now have a lovely garden to get planted, get that shoulder to the physio otherwise frozen shoulder will set in:eek:, and you dont want that.......
PIC , Also glad to see you back here , Ive also gained 3 stone in last 4 year all due to comfort eating , but hopefully now things are on the change now .....
Weather has been so super again today , and it will continue...........Too hot to do much this arvo , so I sat on my bum for couple hours........Hope all of you are bearing up one way or other...........Sheila0 -
Thanks siegemode. Am glad you've found a way round the problem.:T
I very much intend to challenge the revenue as I'm sure they are wrong.:mad::mad:. Will be on phone in the morning with all my papers in front of me. Not looking forward to it though.:(:(.
Good to hear your FIL enjoyed and appreciated your efforts.
I don't enjoy the hot weather very much but would rather have it like this than what we had to suffer the last few months. At least can go out and about without needing raincoats and unbrellas:jUse it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Hello DENISE how lovely it is to hear from you, I am so very glad you have had the shoulder dealt with and that you and DH have found a lovely new home, that is very welcome news indeed. I hope the physio goes well and you are back to 100% fitness and shoulder mobility very quickly. A new vegetable garden, how exciting for you both, ours gives us so much pleasure (except for the french beans at this moment!) and being able to use home frozen produce through the winter months is so lovely. I am so very pleased to hear from you again, happy, happy, happy thank you, Love Lyn xxx.0

Am feeling down and miserable myself after got some from the Inland Revenue this morning telling me that as I had two jobs last year and did not tell them about one I now owe them almost £900:eek::eek::eek:. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Firstly I did not have two jobs, just the one, they just can't cope with my widow's pension!(and I have paid tax on it). Secondly where am I going to find that amount of money. My incomings are well below the tax allowance amount in any case and I can just about manage (with all the helpful advice and tips on this site) but even if they take it monthly it will leave me absolutely "on the bones of my a**e" as my OH would have said.
Am all screwed up tight inside and dreading the phone call will have to make tomorrow.
.
Please don't get too upset by the tax people, when we have had to speak to them when they have messed up, they are really nice and helpful. Much nicer than they sound in a letter.0 -

If you need any help give me a shout. I live on my widows pension from the MOD and Widowed parents Allowance. I've always found the tax people to be very helpful once I've explained where my income comes from. My widowed parents allowance is taxable, so at the start of every tax year I contact the tax people and tell them how much I will be getting. This allows them to send a code to the MOD so the tax is deducted at source from my pension to take my entire income into account meaning I don't end up with a bill at the end of the year.0 -
Just realized it is days since I saw GreyQueen around?0

just a quick post as up to my eyes in stuff but feeling a happy bunny so don't mind being busy. If you are feeling hot in bed, a wet flannel on your forehead and a cold (rather than hot) water bottle help. My boys aren't sleeping so have these plus a cotton sheet instead of a duvet and a fan on until they eventually fall asleep.

So it is, hopefully she is just wearing herself out murdering slugs up on the lottie - give us a little shout GQ and let us know you're ok!
So glad to see a couple of old friends back on here
 sounds like all going well sunshine and PIC, another new doggy - we require pictures to ahhh over!
AOT - please don't worry about the phone call - letters are usually pretty standard and the person on the end of the phone will hopefully be more helpful. Will keep fingers crossed it's all a mistake and it gets sorted really quickly.
Doc was great - gave me some anti inflammatorys and wrote a referral for physio for me - yay, more appointments to fit in to the oracle!!! (sarky cheer!) He was also really interested in the kids diagnosis as it's not one he'd ever heard of (the joys of a rare syndrome) he was also most impressed with my grasp of medical jargon and genetics! Was also really helpful offering any other support/listening ear if I felt I needed it at any point.
Thanks for the ideas re hoists etc, hoping to hold off a little longer not least because at only 2 and 4 I don't think we'll get much support from OT etc unless physio will say my back is in real danger. Will be careful though and start shouting louder if the pills and the physio doesn't start doing the trick pretty quickly.
Take care all - X
