Good morning all. Welcome Sarah, you may find some good advice on MSE,, when I arrived I was a bit lost too but have come on in leaps and bounds since and no longer dread the post (except letters from the dratted DWP:mad:)

Jem not everyone can use Mum and chainsaw in the same sentence, she sounds like a real trooper though :rotfl: Hope she doesnt create too much havoc.

Just popping to Mr A for DGs's nappies to save DD a walk and thats my travels for the day. Have vouchers for Sainsb's for money off petrol and food so if I use them carefully it should help with our break next week. Got £6 off a £30 shop and 6p a litre off petrol. Just need a bit of juggling and I can stock up for when we come back too. I also need a pair of comfy shoes so the £6 off should more than pay for them.

Hope everyone is keeping safe in this weather xxx

    Wave hello to Sarah :hello:

Don't worry about feeling the house is messy as with kids a happy home is usually less than immaculate ;)

I like the saying "our home is clean enough to be healthy and messy enough to be happy". We should be ecstatic lol !!! I thought now youngest is 19 we had a sporting chance of reasonable tidiness but stuff gets strewn all over the house and her bedroom looks as if we have been burgled. To be fair, if we have people over she will tidy and clear things.

We now have a courtesy car after the accident and have just heard the driver who slammed right into the back of us has admitted liability so it should not cost us money - phew!

Youngest turned her nose up at the mayo in fridge as it was not a "brand" so had a browse on Approved Foods last night and have ordered H******s mayo with caramelised onion and hint of lemon, instant delight desserts, tins of fruit, jars of pasta sauce for pizzas etc. lemon tea and a few other bits for about a third of the price so very pleased. I also refilled the hand wash bottles with value shower gel at 40 pence a bottle rather than buying new handwash at nearly two pounds each.

House is really quiet now so having a browse on here with a cuppa and enjoying the peace.

    Hugs to all

    Morning all.

Welcome Sarah. I'm currently at a loss too - This thread has been a life changer and the family (aka members) are very friendly and understanding in all matters of drama's (I have plenty!! :D)

Another hot one today. Doggers are finding it so tough, I'm soaking them down often, Providing shade & quite time as their really ratty atm.

Had a really busy weekend again. Youngest brother has finally finished exams and open day events for six form. Middle brother & SIL still have no sign of baby arriving - Although she's struggling now and keeps getting loads of puddles & pains. Her midwife is assuring her this is normal & she needs to stop worrying, But is refusing to see her until 41 weeks. Meaning she wouldn't have been seen or checked for nearly 3 & 1/2 weeks.

Today I think is jut going to be a easy day. I'm mentally drained now. Oh & I was looking at more healthier options for depression medications as we're currently ttc & its not been happening.

Will be catching up later, Off to do some odds and sods.
    xx
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

I was just going to post the same thing. Yay for Jem's mum! :rotfl:

Welcome Sarah. I'm sure the OS board can help you.

Hot hot hot today. DD is poorly which means I can't go to DS's last sports day at primary school which has made me a bit sad. I've asked a couple of mums to take a photo of him. He's not exactly sporty so I'm unlikely to be missing any great feats of athleticism!

Well anybody who hates the hot just come up here - we're cool with a breeze & solid cloud cover and 15C which feels really cold after the hot weather!
I need a cook please - can somebody tell me how to do roast veg and what veg you roast? :) Pref low carb but I'm not fanatical about it.
After our recent war, I am pleased to declare victory. An Armistice has been signed and I GOT MY WAY ;);) Have opened a savings account and am planning a HOLIDAY for next year. The RV doesn't do holidays - but next year he is bloody well going to take one and like it! :D

Mar, I often do roast veg in various guises. Our favourite is red onion, courgette, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, sometimes bits of carrots, whatever you fancy, but not spuds. Chop up roughly, chuck in a bowl and add a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper, few herbs or spices (optional) and sometimes a bit of tomato puree. Mix together, then put on a baking tray and cook for about 20 minutes at electric 180-190 degrees, about gas mark 5.

I've added finely chopped chicken and made it a bit spicy, by adding cajun spice or paprika, cook for longer, maybe 30 minutes.

Well done on the victory :)
This is a fairly simple guide to roasting veg.
The same basic technique can be applied to other veg, now that you've mentioned it, I'll do some courgettes, an aubergine, tomatoes, a couple of red onions, a butternut squash and a few mushrooms with some mixed herbs for this evening. With them being softer veg I'll check after 20 minutes at 200C.

Hello All - hope you all ok and not too baked and welcome to newbies, I look forward to getting to know you.

Got SW coming this afternoon with the chap from direct payments to fill in all the forms and set everything up so we can start receiving DP for DD an finally be able to pay for some babysitting so DH and I get a bit of time together. Really looking forward to it (if not all the form filling which will be required).

Also got my Docs appointment this afternoon - been getting twinges in my back and it's getting worse and the kids Physio nagged me into going - it sounds stupid but I only really noticed how bad it's got when he pointed out that he could see that my back was bad from the way I was sitting! Need to get it sorted ASAP as DD and DS are not getting any lighter and although making big improvements with mobility I can't see either of them walking imminently. Sorry to sound such a grump it's just that as soon as 1 thing goes well (transition to school in Sept all sorted and positive and really happy with how it is all set up) something else comes along. Plus not sure if I mentioned we had the visual impairment team out to see kids (well DD really but did a referral while there for DS) and although we kind of knew that her eyes were bad their testing showed up that her sight is poor enough to be officially recognised as partially sighted - and we think she sees better than her bro! Doesn't change anything but still feel a bit meh about it. Mind you told nursery and they were flabbergasted and couldn't believe how well she had done this year considering!

Ok I'll quit whingeing now, DH has just brought me lunch and after I've eaten it I may go and see how my seedlings are doing in the garden to cheer me up before the meeting.

Catch you all later - X

Stiltwalker - have you thought of a hoist for the kids and a stairlift if you have a house? It is so important to care for your back - I suffer from a very prolapsed disc that has caused my back muscles to waste away - all caused by an awkward lift with a patient when I was in my twenties and not helped by years of odd positions as a midwife. There will be a community paediatric occupational therapist for your area who can come out to your house and advise on suitable solutions and a budget to buy the equipment you need.

Hope you feel brighter soon. Your children are a credit to you xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
