Love the shelves fuddle - so neat and organised. I must get my kitchen sorted.
(((hugs))) to all the poorlies - hope things improve for you soon.
I had an appointment at the local hospital for surgery on my right wrist (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) on Thursday. Got myself there early as instructed, completed all the paperwork, signed the consent form, got changed into the glamorous hospital gown and had right wrist marked with indelible purple pen so surgeon wouldn't make mistake!(:rotfl:)
Then I and the other ladies sat and waited for our turn. And waited.....and waited.....and waited!!! Almost 3 hours later we were told that there was a problem with theatre (burst pipe) so all operations cancelled and we should all go home.:eek:
Apparently we will be contacted with another appointment.
What a waste of time and money.
For one poor lady it was the 2nd time in a month that her surgery had been cancelled.
AOT....I so feel for you as I had that on Sept 18 , I too was in my gown and then going into theatre and all stop because of my heamaglobin levels too low.......I went nearly the month round to October 13 th to eventually get it done.....
Im glad to say I think its healing ok as it dont hurt to move the toes around and I feel as though my heel dont hurt too much , what I mean is with plantar you get sharpe pains up the heel and ive not had that pain since the op, where the other foot is still very painful, so im very optimistic with it all, I go back to see surgeon this Monday and see what he says......Im still on zimmer as I cant put heal on ground and it wont weight bear yet but im getting there.......
SAVINGQUEEN...I remember exactly same thing when my boys went to school with lost this lost that , come home with someone elses uniform:mad:....
NUTTYP.....Feel for you with the IBS , thankfully ive never suffered that , its must be terrible when you are out with that happening , hope your dr can help you out , good luck....
NARGLEBLAST....What a good idea to use the butter dish for the butter than spreadable butter, its a lovely vintage , old fashioned idea doing that , and I love anything like that......I suppose autumn and winter it doesnt go runny , ive got a lovely cornishware butter dish to use, ooohh ive gone all nostalgic......
Its been a super day here at 22 degrees , weird and wonderful weather .....Take care all and dont forget to smile.....My motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
Good morning all, woken up feeling blurgh again. The couch is where I am laying now all snuggled up. I have a chesty cough and a stupid cold thing now. Must carry on as normal, but I feel soo tired. Only working from 10 till 2 today.
Well I think we can all safely say we are struggling more and more. I have had to end up taking promotion at work, more hours and a little more pay but I am not seeing any benefits really. I am more tired, seem to have less time to myself and honestly I wonder can I do this. As from the 1st Nov I am getting another managers assistant, this means that the overall shop doesn't fall on me all the time. He is from a shop that is being closed, part of a nationwide closer of shops near the end of leases and where they are not overly making much money. He has been through redundancy twice already so is transferring to avoid it again, he only has around 3 or 4 years to retirement.
I have decided that we need to be more frugal with shopping, got a bit naughty just lately. Manage to spend nearly £50 in mr t on around 3 bags of groceries. Didn't go to @ldi as I wasn't near one, message to self - find one!!!!
We have started the hamper for the dogs home. At Christmas every year we get a banana box n fill it with dog food, any old towels and blankets we have, a few treats and a few toys too. The week before Christmas me and my girls drive to the nearest one and take them the goodies. We got our first doggy from them some 17 years ago and I am eternally grateful for all the time and love we got from him. Its nice to be able to give just a little something back. It may not be lots but every little will help. And at Christmas they are often over run with extras.
Does anyone know how to make these little felt christmas decorations ? I have seen some lovely ones all handmade, and I am going to try and make some. Thought it would be a nice cheap craft project.
Will try and catch you all later on, take care.BSC member 137

Morning all
AOT - Sorry your op didn't go ahead as planned, I'm frustrated for you.
SQ - Well done to Master SQ, when will you know about the school place?
Nutty - Sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly, I have IBS too, it can be a pain in the !!! (literally!). As for felt decorations, I made loads a few years back, just draw up the designs on some stiff paper/thin card and use that as a template to draw round onto your felt, I used some pretty coloured cross stitch cottons to sew them up and used some toy stuffing (you could use an old cushion or pillow innards). Nice and simple but they look fab. I have a tall thin tree in the kitchen at christmas full of my homemade felt decorations
Feeling really rough here with a UTI, the antibiotics are kicking in as I don't feel quite as bad as I did yesterday or the day before.....my house looks like someone's let a whirlwind loose in it though so need to potter around today and sort that. There's also a horrible damp smell coming from the cupboard under the sink.......could be the washing machine, not sure. Will get DD's to help drag it all out today and take the cupboard to bits to find out what's going on. I'm not looking forward to that job.
Both DD's are still full of colds and DH has been feeling very under the weather so the meal plan went out the window - will pop some braising steak in the SC for tonight, with some veg and then make some dumplings to pop in later."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Pooky, the doctor I saw doesn't think my new symptons are ibs related. He thinks there is severe inflammation within the bowel and that he thinks I need another colonoscopy to have a better look. I have major scar tissue from childbirth in the area, don't know if that's relevant but he said he can understand how I feel ashamed. I mean how many of us want to be worried about leaking all day.
OH has been really good, he said he is worried I am trying to do everything all the time, I do but I am allowing him to be helpful!!
Timefor a shower, take care all xBSC member 137

Thanks Pooky - DS really didn't want to sit the test (his 4th and last one) but I managed to persuade/bribe him and seeing a rainbow that day helped a lot as we like to think it brings us good luck! We have to apply to county council for school places by 31st Oct and don't hear until beginning of March.
How very annoying AOT. Horrible getting ready for an op and then having it cancelled.
5 sizes in 11 months!!!! Mind you DS's trousers fit in September, it's only October so we may be heading the same way! Last summer I packed shorts and jeans for our holiday and when we had our first cool day DS couldn't fit into any trousers that fit a few weeks before. I had to buy a couple of pairs of cheap trackie bottoms from the first shop we found.
((((((nutty))))))) Yes I can relate to your embarrassment although its more common than you think and to the docs just a medical problem. I had to have a couple of ops for stress (urine) incontinence and once I got past the initial GP appointment which lasted all of about 2 mins, I was so relieved to get the ball rolling. I know several people who never go to the doctors out of embarrassment for these type of conditions and so I tell people of my experience (if appropriate!) in a matter of fact way to encourage them to go the doctors themselves. I found seeing it as a medical problem to be solved helped me cope.

Nutty scar tissue sounds about right. Will probably be a minor op and all done with. Do what ever they say.
Take what ever help is offered both from OH and your new assistant manager. This is not just physical but a major psychological blow too you will feel tired trying to cope with it all just at the time when you got promotion. Sometimes nutty I think you are one who has more than your fair share of work just like kidcat.
You have my sympathy with the colonoscopy they are horrible. Take care and lots of Hugs.
I thought it was going to stay warm like the last couple of days. Looks like I will have to put the heating on after having it off for the last 3 days.
Was going to put some primroses in the garden and a few cheap bulbs I got in a pound shop but it has rained an awful lot this weekend it is a bit too muddy.
Sounds like we need a big group hug for all the poorlies. :grouphug:0 -
Afternoon everyone, just a little reminder of a potential weather event tomorrow into Tuesday, we're supposed to be getting the tail end of a hurricane on Monday night/Tuesday morning, it might be worth battening down any garden furniture etc that's still in use due to the ongoing warm weather, I'm making sure my solar lamps are charged up and I'm making some ready to reheat food on Monday so I've the makings of a meal in the event of power outages due to lines down. There's no specific information on the weather forecast about where it will will be strongest winds etc. but better to be ready just in case than get problems from leaving things undone. If you haven't done it so far, put your winter box of usefulness in the car and if you have to travel make sure you take an overnight bag just in case there are trees down, flooding or road closures due to the high winds. It will most likely not amount to much but it might, so take care all of you, Lyn xxx.0

Yes mar couldnt agree more , it never seem easy year on year , im always thinking months ahead , especially fuel prices , gas , coal wood, and electric...I got a lot of large lump house coal during the summer at cheaper prices , plus I did cart a lot of firewood back here thats all seasoned , so as long as we can keep warm thats half the battle as my mother use to say.....
But food prices never stop going up , ive been buying 2 packets of pasta in a sause Batcherlors at 60 p per pkt or 2 for a £1.....Thats ok for me on my own , and its quite filling.......
POOKY....Cor your tea sounds so nice , braising steak, dumplings oohh, your family will need that to help fight off the colds .....
NUTTYP...I hope you managed to get through the day with your cold and working, everytime I get a cold it always goes to my head and ache the whole duration of the cold, thankfully I dont get many colds ( but seem to get everything else)...
FUDDLE....All my radiators are slightly tilted too , perhaps it has something to do with the water flow in them to be like that.....
Right im off to get myself tea ready , im doing oven chips with a burger for tonight , ive got hospital tomorrow to see my surgeon podiatrist , hopefully he will take this huge padding and bandage off and have a smaller one on , also got a huge boot on , when I go to sleep at night my foot is so hot , I always do keep both feet out of the bed cos I tend to over heat but its worse with this packaging on me........SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
My tea did sound nice....didn't happen! By the time I'd finished sorting the "where's the smell coming from" game it was too late to start it - we had pasta and meatballs instead, equally yummy!
The source of the smell wasn't the dishwasher or washing machine, the seal had gone on the kitchen sink and the water had been collecting in the box underneath that I keep some of the cleaning stuff in.....yuck! Proper manky job but it's all been cleaned up, got the new bits of pipe and some seals that work and it's all back together - yay!
The kitchen has now been cleaned to within an inch of it's life and looks all sparkly.
I, on the other hand don't have an ounce of sparkle left in me and am about to collapse on the sofa with a large cup of tea and some crochet."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
