I had a lovely present just before lunch today. My neighbour gave me a takeaway box with holes cut in the lid and some mud and leaves and underneath the leaves sitting on the mud was a wonderful orange eyed very warty very large Mr Toad!!! Her little spaniel had found him in the garden and was getting a bit too boisterous with him and she was sure he'd be happier in our garden. We put him in the greenhouse and left the door open in case he wanted to find his own new home. I'm a very lucky woman both to have Mr Toad and to have my lovely Steph for a neighbour, life is always fun and never mainstream!!! Long may it continue!!!0

(((((((((Possession))))))))) You are bound to feel emotional about your job ending. Do what you need to say goodbye to the old and then you will be ready to embrace the new. Who knows what's around the corner?
DS10 came home with an achievement award from school. First one he has ever had and he is in year six - they are only given out to a few children each term. He has been working so hard the last few weeks so well deserved. Just hope he doesn't start getting a big head with all the attention he has had recently.
What a lovely surprise Mrs LW! Makes me think of Toad of Toad Hall in a waistcoat.
I have put some a mix of odds and ends in the slowcooker, I am slightly concerned how its going to turn out. Its smells nice but not sure exactly of what!0 -
So sorry to have missed the chance to say happy birthday to you yesterday ivyleaf I hope you feel better today and that you enjoyed your birthday food even though it sent you feeling a bit off colour.
Lyn enjoy Mr Toad I am sure he will find a super home in your garden. I doubt he'll ever leave!
Just about to check on the weather forecast. There's a warning but no where on my forecast can I see anything worrying.
Tea is beef lasagne with a side of carrots and green beans. The girls are having their meal before DH gets in as they have to go to bed early for bad behaviour  They are having left over chicken with pasta and cheese. They will follow up with rice pudding and leftover tinned apricots. You know me, I'm not a fan of two sets of meals, but an early tea they must have this evening.
Just a little ironing and clothes sorting to do then I can pretty much relax. All is in hand.0 -
Hi all.
Back from a lovely week in the IOW. It was an almost physical pain to leave my little Mia - she's a real little girl now and was so excited to see us, she came bumping down the stairs on her bottom, shouting "'allo - OW - look, Teddy - OW - pink shoes - OW - Peppa Pig - OW......."
You all seem to have written epic novels while I've been away so I'll catch up later.
Possession: All change is difficult but I think you will look back in times to come and find that you have few regrets. There must be some positive aspects from having a little break from work. Make the most of a few long coffee breaks and a stroll out in the fresh air. I'm sure that you will find another job before long.
Pooky: Your 'leftovers' sound delicious. Having been away my fridge is devoid of anything interesting so will have to go shopping armed with a very frugal list. Luckily I am now only 5 minutes walk from Lidlee's and am loving it. First I have to go into our gloomy outhouse and clean our spare freezer that resides there. The church want to get Turkey Crowns in the market on Wednesday ready for Christmas, and the church freezer is full!
Lyn: Well, I suppose Toad-in-the-Greenhouse beats Toad-in-the-Hole. When I lived in my cottage I had a family of toads living in an old stone wall. They used to vist me occasionally, I never did discover how they got into my kitchen. Fascinating creatures.
Off to tackle the grubby freezer.

On the plus side I dont have toads in my kitchen! Although there was a lizard in our holiday home in France one year.0

Possession hugs, hoping your new door opens soon and you can see what the next exciting opportunity will be.
Mrslw if my neighbour gave me a takeaway box with a toad in I think my cats would assume it was for them. Enjoy Mr toad, although I do wonder if Mr mole and Mr badger will be along shortly to rescue him
Monna so glad you had a lovely break.0 -
Fuddle - Thanks, I feel much better today, and hopefully next year I'll eat more sensibly! We are having cheddar & onion quiche tonight, with chicken pilau - our lovely Goan neighbour felt bad that she'd forgotten my birthday (bless her heart, she's nearly eighty so i certainly wasn't expecting her to remember!) so she made us a pilau
It's made a slight mess of the menu plan, but it was so kind of her, and I love her pilau.
Aww, monnagran, it must have been so hard to leave MiaI loved your description of her coming downstairs! Our granddaughter is 6 and loves pink shoes - she thinks it most unfair that she has to have black ones for school, and I really can't say i blame her
stiltwalker I hope DD is better now and that DS didn't catch whatever she had x
MrsLW Aren't toads' eyes beautiful?
kidcat - Glad you were able to get some meds. I know you'll get a bit of rest when you can. get well soon x
possession Big (((HUGS)))
Well done Master SQ!0 -
Possession - a door will open anytime soon. I am in a similar position in that my last day in employment is 31st and I have been forced into a resignation situation due to lack of technical support over more than a year. I would have had a breakdown had I tried to carry on in the organisation.
Shortly after I put in my notice by chance I came across an opportunity in the same industry but of self employment and this suits me absolutely fine as my children are grown and flown and I just have to provide for myself. I feel sure that when you look back on this time in your life you will see it as a very positive move and a turning point in your prospects. I am sending a lot of positive and energetic thoughts your way!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

We have a outside wall mounted postbox now, means posty doesn't have to enter our house by any means. I made the mistake of getting a filled bone for him today, he has so far hidden it in the bottom of my wardrobe and got very cross when I tried to close the door.
Delurking to say, very silly but this made me giggle as it sounds like you gave the filled bone to the posty who then hid in your wardrobe0
