Sheila so glad your foot is healing and its not long now until you are fully back on your feet properly.
Well after knowing all week that something was wrong with DS10 having so many meltdowns in school, I was called in today as he has injured a teacher and thrown a table at another. They just didnt understand what was going on and I was am my wits end. Tonight I spent two hours asking lots of questions in different ways and eventually he managed to tell me his throat was a little prickly!! Looked into his mouth and there were so many red spots I have never seen it so bad. Thankfully I called and the doctor fitted him in tonight, she looked and said it was a really nasty infection and he must be in agony!!! Strong antibiotics and paracetamol to clear it and a few days off school.
The doctor was amazing and decided to check OH as well with him coughing while we were there, having decided he didnt sound too bad she still gave him the antibiotics because he has had it over a week.
That means that only the two girls don't have meds, and DD20 will be going Wednesday as her cough is getting worse by the minute. Poor DD8 is looking like the last man standing0 -
Glad you feel better today ivyleaf. What a sweet neighbour.
Welcome back monnagran, sorry leaving Mia was so hard, she sounds so adorable.
Sheila - my goodness, you are making the NHS work hard. It will all be worth it in the long run.
Congrats on your grandbaby- a pink Valentine's babe!! Great news!
When I first read your post, I thought you said "brandy butter" !
Kidcat, so very glad to hear that you have worked out what was affecting DS so much and have some meds for him. Poor him, poor you as well as your DH and DD20. Hoping you will have some calmer days now. DD8 will have to be in charge if not!x
looking forward to my bed now.....0 -

Aw Kidcat get well soon all the family. Perhaps we had better buy DD8 a nurses uniform so she can play nurse to you all.
Glad you enjoyed your week on the Island Monna.
Sheila don't you do any handicrafts maybe you could learn something to
keep you occupied. Make something for that new baby due in February.
SQ I read brandy butter too three times before I got it right. looks like returning to butter is on the cards in the next few weeks. I wonder why Sheila needed so much for just her.
Welcome Kaytep23 looks like we all read things wrong and amusingly sometimes.0 -
Good morning everyone! Hope no one's been blown away.
Kidcat Your poor family(That includes you, of course) Hope everyone's better soon.
About butter - I've noticed that when I use block butter which has been frozen and defrosted, it doesn't seem to melt in the usual way when it's put on hot toast or crumpets. Anyone else noticed that? Perhaps I'm just weird.0 -
Heavy snow forecast today on the mountains, and a high of 6 degrees here. BBC Scotland saying that record numbers of geese have arrived, the last time we had so many was the winter of 2010.. We had four and a half feet of snow that winter and it lay for 5 weeks. Whoohoooo I love winter

My Sister lives in Ottawa Mar and she said they have all migrated at once because of the relatively warm autumn in many areas. I am choosing to believe that as I HATE Winter.0

Mrs LW hide the car keys with the Toad around!
Kidcat, I understand completely the problem with poorly autys. Dgs can now say he is 'poorly' but you have to go round his body asking if things hurt. Life is a rollercoaster with them isnt it?
Beautiful sunny day apart from the terrible high winds, OH wants to go out but Im leaving him in bed for now as I feel like hibernating.
I have now lost enough weight for my t shirts to become tops and my tops to become dresses . I am wearing a cotton jumper today that was big and comfy but now I fear I may trip over it:rotfl:
Oh well this isnt going to get my owls stuffed is it?Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Ginny sounds like most clothes on me I'm only 4ft 9in even petite is long enough to trip up over these days. They used to fit.
I once sent back a mail order blouse. I had to describe where it did not fit so I put it was a bit tight round the knees and I could not reach the pockets. :rotfl:
They never asked for an explanation. It had a narrow waist that was around my knees and pockets that were just above my ankles. :rotfl::rotfl:
I could never understand why they kept sending me their catalogue.
One thing it does mean I use a lot less yarn when I knit for myself.
They keep on about the wind on the radio but I don't think it looks any worse than most days, it is always windy in Bolton.
Think I am going to risk going out.0 -
I think it's the gusts nursemaggie. A lady has died from a falling tree in London. We are supposed to be a little better off on the South coast but I had a tree branch whack my car at lunch time.
DH has decided (and I agree) that he should take left overs from the evening meal to work the next day, for his lunches. The only thing is we don't have 'leftovers' because we gobble the lot so now I have to try to decide whether to up the portions, eeek out with an extra side or serve up a desert. I don't want to spend more or consume any more calories.
My shift is over with for the day but I've to go get some fruit and veg, go to the post office, pick up the kiddlers, cook tea and work out my menu plan for the issue above. Not due to relax any time yet then :rotfl:
Also heard from the office that I have many breaks on the weekend shift, a late start on Sunday and all nice customersI can not dread it this week. Please hope that no one calls in sick as we have a food festival in town that I would like to nip to and experience.
