Hi Mrs Lw . Sympathies, I'm up to take some more painkillers. Washing them down with hot chocolate.
Hope docky settles soon, xtoday's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Maybe earmuffs for Docky would help? And dog socks to stop the digging being effective? The cat woke me up with a sock as a "gift" this morning - maybe it's a present for Docky!0

Good morning to all you lovely friends
I hope you are feeling better this morning CC. Have a hug to start your day and look after yourself please.
Poor Docky and his lovely mum. Mrs LW you always do the right thing for your doggy but at the expense of your own well being. If I remember rightly you have Zebra to look after this weekend so I am prescribing a nap and an easy day for you.
((((((((((((Sheila)))))))))) remember a while back before your DH found his 2nd home? You had so many ailments and health issues and really struggling with them. You planned to get them all resolved or as much as possible. You are well along that path now.
We will all be with you on Monday for your op and again for your brain scan. Scans are there to find problems and sort them out. I know it is scary but better to know and either be relieved or alternatively get treatment. I can't tell you not to worry as it's only natural. I have had several scans - some gave the all clear, couple of others didn't and I got the right treatment and the all clear ever since. They were literally life savers for me. Keep posting and we will keep listening.
We have had very unsettled weather and our cats are jumpy. Posh cat is only happy sat on my lap whilst I am on the PC but I will need to get up at some point! Stripey cat tried to jump up and join us but missed his footing and fell awkwardly - which is something for a cat. He is getting a bit wobbly in his old age but of course you can't reason with a cat!
Still coldy and boys are coughing today too but nothing too bad. DH is the worst - he is still asleep so hopefully the rest will help him recover. Rain forecast all day here and nothing to go out for so a day in for all. I don't mind feeling a little unwell or heavy rain when I get to stay in and be cosy!0 -
Hi guys, thanks for the sympathy and kindness and possibly thanks to the cat for the thoughtful sock? His Dadi has taken him out for a walkies and I got a couple of hours sleep from 6ish to just before 9 when I was woken up by a small licky whirling dervish who helped deliver a cup of tea which luckily stayed in the cup!!! Yes Zebra comes to visit this evening so I'll grab some ZZZZZZ this afternoon to make sure I'm awake this evening. Nothing much planned today other than a trip to the greengrocers for fresh fruit and veg and a bit more processing of some elderly tomatoes we found yesterday in the outside freezer. I processed one huge bag full yesterday and ended up with a single jam jar full of tomato puree. I'll process the rest today and put the resulting puree in the freezer, much smaller amounts to store that way and I had the thought that if I skinned the tomatoes and de-cored them fresh in the first place that would be a much more compact way of storage in the freezer as I can put the bags of chopped fruit into rectangular plastic boxes to freeze and have brick shaped bags which stack. Why this has escaped me until now I do not know but it will give more room in the freezer which can only be a good thing no?0

Morning all. Good idea with the tomatoes, I'm in the middle of making roasted tomato and red pepper soup with mine. It'll be a quick tea before we go out tonight.
I'm another one who had an interrupted night. LittleyDog was unsettled which is very unusual for her so in the end I slept in till 8.30, very unusual for me!
So I'm only just having breakfast whilst perusing on here and catching up with you. Next plan is get dressed and walk the dogs popping to garage to arrange car service on the way. Multi-tasking, eh?!!
I hope you all have a lovely day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Shelia hun you'll be fine
Be there along with you x
Brain scans are quite quick and painless now, my father had one, the staff were lovely and took minutes. Apparently its routine now to have brain scans so please don't worry. You will, no doubt, just v try and relax x
Woke up to sunny breezy sky, starting to get dark now. Slowly getting things sorted for Monday. Will take the beds down tomorrow night.
Its just nice seeing the sun
Poor pooches.
We never slept properly last nigh . More bed wetting for ds2. So mountains of washing duvets. Looks like back on desmopression tonight. Oh well at we know the medication helped him with triggering hormone in his brain0 -
MrsLW - am not sure if you have tried before but how about some music playing? Other than that would a cage with soundproof panels be worthwhile? Poor baby must be terrified to be in such a state.
Am so fed up of paint and mess I could cheerfully give up and not do anything else, but I know I would end up being upset at state of place within weeks so I am just keeping going and pushing on.
Plans are now set for DS10 bedroom, including cupboards to keep all his mess hiddenNow if only the bargain section at Ike@ can be kind to me
Have done dancing and dropped DD20 car at garage today, she was out for her big city birthday night out last night which one friend ruined for her. She was staying in town with this friend in their flat but the friend set out to get as drunk as possible within an hour, then spent the rest of evening discussing suicide and self harm. The girls father died 5 years ago and its clear she has never recovered, despite many years of counselling, therapy and anti depressant drugs. Her family appear now to have given up and moved her into student digs hoping she will sort herself out. DD20 was distraught when we collected her this morning.
Tomorrow I plan to visit her mum and make sure she is aware of how bad things are and I pray she will take things into hand now.
Failing that I do know the chaplain at her uni so I may make a call this week and ask a favour, hoping that someone somewhere will make a call and get this girl the help she so desperately needs.
Kez - have you tried the alarm system? I ask as a friend has been offered it but is wary of it, so am looking for some feedback.
We have "parental punishment" homework this week ( I complained to school about something so DD8 has been specially chosen to do a special project!!)
DD8 has to make a scene from a shoebox depicting palm sunday!! Now don't get me wrong I know the story etc and have done tableaus etc over many years as a childrens worker, however those were many weeks in planning, preparation and building, none were ever achieved in a weekend!!!!0 -
We had the radio on all night and the lights and he had run of the house because he's worse if he's shut in. We did try a cage for him when he slipped a disc in his neck and even then he tried to dig his way out every time he was in there so really not an option. I've had him 10 1/2 years since he was 8 weeks old and the longer I know him the less I understand him. He's unreachable when he's that scared and we have bonfire night and all the wretched fireworks in the near future, I think I'll have to become nocturnal and sleep in the day while it's going on. I adore him, don't get me wrong, I feel so sorry for him knowing I can do nothing to help him and he's definately going to be the last pet we have I get too emotionally twizzled trying to help him.0

How about smells? Are there any he particularly relaxes with? We had a cat years ago and whenever I cooked turkey he slept and slept , nothing woke him at all. Smells are a sense he cant avoid in some ways. Otherwise, yes sleeping during the day may be the only solution, poor poor baby to be so scared. I am so grateful our dog is so placid, he enjoys watching the fireworks, gets all excited to go out walking when they are on, and bad weather he doesnt appear to even notice0

We've tried everything known to man and vet including the pheremone plugs and there is nothing!!!!! Just have to monitor his behaviour so he doesn't damage himself or the structure of the house until whatever is causing his fear is past, and try to do everything including sleep in the inbetween bits. When he's not scared though he's the easiest creature in the world bless him!0
