Try not to worry Sheila, easier than it sounds I know! Fingers crossed it all turns out to be nothing.
Stilty, fingers crossed to DD's school being a bit more receptive to her needs - you tell them!
Thankyou everyone for all your foodie help. Mrs LW I have your cabbage recipe saved already but I can't use it this time as Dad can't have cabbage or onions, and DH can't have wine!
Last night I made a fried rice concoction with cooked chicken I already had, and tonight, well the kitchen was full of stuff from top to bottom which had to be moved when both the upstairs was being painted and Dad was putting a new carpet downstairs. The carpet took ages and by 6pm the children were hungry and it was becoming obvious that I wouldn't be able to cook in there so we got fish and chips - my Dad's treat and he got to have gluten-free batter too. I'm going to do sausage and carrot/potato mash tomorrow, with green beans for him and peas for all of us.
Jem I hope you've got some more ideas of what you can eat now - it was just the same for my dad he was given a long chart of all the things he couldn't eat and the more you study it the more you realise that's all your old favourites gone. But he has adapted some of them and I'm sure you will be able to as well.

Wow we are protective of Miss Stilty arent we :T Im sat here fuming on your behalf. Do hope you can sort things out despite what the powers that be say these are the most important years of their little lives.
Chickens my Mum has tinnitus and a couple of months ago started hearing loud music, luckily my brother got her in for a private consultation and its a form of tinnitus. She can control it to some extent mainly by ringing me and talking for a wee while. I also have had it for a year now but not too bad just annoying. Hope you get through the tests ok.
I have just seen an online Lidl voucher on FB - £5 off £30 shop - I guess its if you 'Like' Lidl.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Stilty I'm so angry on your behalf.
First thing find out who your parent partner support officer is your area. They are a part of the council but also independent. They assist and act on your behalf with the school.
Second have the school or senco advised of the year dd will be changed to EHC plan?
If you don't phone up your council and request a pamphlet regarding EHC, really you should have already recieved it. By law you should have recieved it by September 15th 2014.
Ask for a network meeting with teacher, senco, educational psychologist and any other health professionals. In this meeting ask why and how withdrawing dd from her peers is good for her. Explain your concerns, works, say dd is being made to excluded from her peers and is putting. an extreme amount of pressure on her.
Instead insist on a one to one assistant to sit with dd in lessons. If they say they can't its a load of nonsense. My. son has full support in classroom with his peers
Kidcat may know who your local parent forum is.
But by all means message me and I'll see what info I can find.0 -
Aww I'm so touched by all of your supportive comments - Little Miss Stilty certainly has a powerful fan club! Combine that with a 20 stone Dad with a short temper, and a mum who knows the new legislation inside out (as I sat on various workstrands as part of my parent carer forum role) and I'm almost starting to feel sorry for school!
I love this thread - X0 -
Kez - I think stilty is the local parent forum
Stilty - you already know that its not right, and thats its not supposed to happen, make sure school know that you know whats what and that you wont stand for messing. Good luck, if you need any help feel free to PM
Sheila - I know its easy to say but you can only take one step at a time, get the surgery out of the way and then move onto the next bit. Good luck and very best wishes
SQ - hope you are feeling better now and that DH is recovering
Sending hugs to all
Its manic here at the moment trying to get house finished as the mess is driving me potty. OH has taken two days off work to decorate two rooms, yet hasnt managed to finish one yetI have deliberately given him a taste of my day, racing between school runs, meetings with school etc and sudden changes to plans thrown in. He isnt coping with it at all and cannot get anything done, which of course was the point. He attended assembly with me today and one of the other mums said to him, so hows it going? do you still think going to work is harder? He replied, works easy I couldnt do this all the time!!
So maybe just maybe, he now gets it and understands how it really is .
I have finished DD8 bedroom last weekend and almost finished DD19 bedroom, its lovely to walk into rooms that are organised and nice
I got stuck on the motorway earlier this week with both boys in the car, almost three hours I was stuck there and its reminded me I need to be prepared and have a bag of stuff in the car just in case. So Mondays task is about preparing for winter properly again.
Bathroom should be finished decorating by tomorrow and after that I will need a handyman to put up cabinet, blind and towel rail etc.0 -
Lol just realised stilty was doing the forum the same time us.

But yep definitely a numpty Lol
Been looking at EHC plan and what a nightmare is. Lots is in transition for both kids this year.0 -
Remember Stilty there is an invisible army of mums and grandmas right behind you in that meeting. Sounds like you know more about the law than the school does. It does not surprise me.
Jem you just need Catarina's recipe for "Almond milk." If you buy soya milk you want the unsweetened. Demand a dietitian you cannot be expected to cope with such a restricted diet without expert help.
Sheila I will virtually be there right beside you holding your hand on Monday morning. Don't worry about the brain scan it will probably not be half as bad as your imagination it will help them to know how to treat you.
It is time national health workers who work directly with patients were taught how to give patients information without scaring them half to death.
I am so glad I had my op in an emergency. No time to think about it and I knew if they did not operate immediately I would have been dead the same day.0 -
Oh the joys of Lurcha life, another thunderstorm, another sleepless night with the boy trying to dig his way out of the front door, he's finally settled down under the desk in the study and I'm trying to stay with him as long as I can but boy am I tired!!!0
