Mrslw how are you resisting poking zebra to have an opportunity for a quick cuddle? I adore babies and think I would be having to sit on my hands
Monna have a lovely time, I agree about the house, I love to come home to a house that is clean and tidy. It's so much nicer and less stressful at the end of a holiday.
My parents visited this week the day before dd20 birthday, I wasn't expecting them and and am in the middle of sorting all the rooms out, I had eight boxes of stuff in hall for charity shop, a bookcase, cabinet and bags of clothes all waiting to be collected. Not to mention a car load of stuff for the tip, my father walked in and said omg it's a right mess as usual! I replied, oh excuse me, maybe next time your could call ahead and warn me you are planning to visit and I can arrange to have everywhere ready for inspection!! Was so pleased with myself and not at all upset, proving how far I have moved on this last year0 -
Cc ouchy shingles is not good, hope it's a mild case and over quickly
Sheila am so pleased your DH has a friend, I know how much that will mean to you. Will be thinking of you on Monday, and praying for good outcomes all around0 -
CC - poor you - shingles can be really nasty - take care.
Shegar - good luck next week for the op - love the thought of your DH and his new mate sharing a can....bless them!
Kidkat - I'm afraid I was a very bad mummy and didn't get involved in homework like that. I was happy to give advice but didn't spend time on projects like that (luckily they were few and far between at DD's schools). Well done on speaking up to your Dad.
Mrs LW - So sorry that Docky feels so scared and frightened of the thunder - must be hard for you to cope with - I hate it when the cats are visibly upset. Have fun with Zebra this evening.
DH has gone out to one of his club talks, DD1 is off at work so DD2 and I have just updated her CV and applied for a few Christmas jobs for her.....we're now about to watch Bridgit Jones with a few nibbles and a snuggly blanket.....not many 16 year olds want to spend Saturday night with their mum so I'm relishing it."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Cc hope you feeling better soon, the trick is with those meds is to take them as soon as and as evenly as you can
Shegar, fingers crossed for Mondays opp, the MRI scan is not that bad 20 - 30 mins ,take you own music if you can ,they will cage your head and your stuck in a large tube ,but oddly its OK ...they give you a panic button ,very loud ,...I get through it by singing all the words ( in my head) to any song that come into my head ,I can go between Abba to pin ball whizzed to Joseph coat to lady gargar ...strange . it has been a year this week since I found out about mg brain tumor ,so due for my next MRI too
OK fingers crossed this posts£223/ £250 GC0 -
Kidcat - I'm sure there is a little clapping hands smiley but the technology is sadly beyond me! (oh and I'd be telling school where to go with that 'homework' - I have already informed school that we will only co-operate with a minimal amount as DD is so tired from a full day at school plus we have other therapies to fit in and that as she is 5 she is entitled to fun - just seems at the moment that she doesn't want any non educational fun).
All a little calmer chez stilty - we now have a plan for Monday and an ongoing plan if necessary although somehow (and not down to anything we have said) DD appears to be convinced that if she does loads of work she can be in class 2 (hold up 2 fingers and signs me too), so this morning we had to do a story ordering exercise and draw pictures of the major bits of the story (dark dark wood, dark dark house etc) followed by drawing pictures of the wood and the ghost and the house, all before riding where she was fab and got off the pony herself at the end of the lesson herself rather than being lifted (first time)! After lunch I managed to coax her out into town where she spent my money for a while before wanting to come home and type out words from the story and read the library book -matching up as many words on her talker as she could. We then made a piece of felt and documented each step with pictures so she I can programme a page for her to tell the class about feltmaking for show and tell next week -by then I was exhausted and daddy had to take over for more typing practice - I'm kicking myself that we didn't take action sooner, however she does seem to be enjoying all this 'work' and is very justifiably proud of her achievements.
Sheila - sorry I've not said earlier, but will be thinking of you on Monday - hope all goes well and I am so glad DH has found another youngster to be mates with! - hugs X
CC - just hugs pet!
Lyn - hugs to Docky (and best ear scratties) - I'd send hugs to you too but you are no doubt overflowing with baby snuggles from zebra (enjoy), hope DD has had a good night, I know well how precious and also how weird those first few baby free times are - in fact I still find not having a child attached to me slightly odd!
Made the very sensible decision not to go for a stall at the Christmas shopping evening at school with my felt this year - I am too busy to even contemplate getting enough stock organised so I will just enjoy making lovely jewellery for fun when I have a few moments spare and wearing it myself!
Right must wake up DH and go to bed - sounds barmy but he is putting out the zeds ont he couch next to me!! Catch you all laters - Hx0 -
Yea :j:j
Stilty ,give the school hell ,I have meeting planned with dep head on Monday cause they are messing dd and ds around with music lessons, just found out why both want to quit violin and absolutely disgusted with school ..head of music has bullied and frientend them to the point that they no longer want to do any music (both have done violin for 6- 7 years) ,both made to feel guilty that the teacher had to come into school to teach them ! And for the pleasure of violin we get to pay £££ each month for this ..
This plus lots of mistakes regarding D's health ,total disregard for his health care, even when I have spoke to school 5 times in the last week ,I am honestly not a problem parent just wish they would start to listen, before he end up in hospital ..
Sorry rant over£223/ £250 GC0 -
Morning all. I'm up early today. I think it is the excitement of knowing I've got use of a car today so can escape the village for a while and go shopping in town. Simple things!
I found out why LittleyDog didn't sleep well on Friday night. She's got sore skin around her tail, so I've been putting cream on from the last time she had the problem, and will get her to the vet tomorrow just to be sure she's ok. She slept ok last night.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning all,
Sounds like many of you could use some hugs--CC, Docky (honorary member!), Kidcat, Stilty and Sheila.
It has been a quiet but busy weekend so far. OH was coaching the football yesterday morning, so I got on with a few chores and errands. In the afternoon we wall papered the back of the dresser. We'll paint it over half term and it will finally be finished! I'd hoped it would be done sooner but we took a few weekends off while I was ill and away for work. However, we already have another project lined up. The same neighbor was getting rid of a child-sized bureau desk. He came over to ask if we want it and, of course, we said yes. It will need a bit of love but won't be nearly as big of a project. We'll use it for extra storage in the dining room as it has three good sized drawers in the bottom. We might also keep our spirits on top of it in some CS decanters if and when I find some. We don't really keep a lot of spirits in the house, but they'll look nice there when we do have some--and who says I can't put the cooking sherry into a pretty decanter??
We did a bit of cleaning in the evening and then had a tapas-style feast and watched a film on the laptop--and old tradition from when we were dating. I made garlic and herb bread in the morning and we had bits of cheese, salady bits and a bit of sliced chorizo and hummus. Today is a bit more cleaning and trying to catch up on washing--I got a bit behind last week when it just seemed to rain for days. Trip to ald! this morning and a bit of sewing this afternoon if I have any time left over.
I cleaned the skirting boards and wiped marks off the walls yesterday--the house really could do with painting. The family who rented before us had little ones who got a bit carried away and used the walls as an easel. They painted over it before we moved in, but did a rushed job and used a slightly different magnolia paint and didn't go all the way up the walls. Lets just say the house looks better with 'romantic' lighting. However, my quick wipe round made the world of difference--the downstairs already looks fresher in the morning sun-just a bit less dingy.0 -
Good morning one and all
I am trying to retain order this weekend and stop running around every creature/human in the house. Boys, particularly eldest have been pushing the boundaries somewhat recently. Unacceptable behaviour has resulted in no pocket money and not getting ready for school without a drama (or ten) has resulted in weekday bedtimes at the weekend to try and sort them out. They have wisely accepted this and I am hoping next week will be better as my patience is wearing thin.
When DH has his weekend coffee and toast, he gets narky if disturbed whilst reading and manages to avoid most situations sitting with his headphones on. I sit down with my breakfast reading on PC (whilst his lordship is still in bed) and one cat is sick and one boy goes outside in bare feet and then stands at French windows as his feet are muddy. I am having a soak in the bath later - the only way I can truly escape although people will attempt conversations through a closed door. Good job I love 'em all!
off to sort out another little drama and then catch up on posts, so much for a quiet Sunday eh?0 -
Sending calming/ healing wishes to stressed/sore pets.
Hope those with problems with their children get resolved.
Kidcat - if it was me I would explain to my child the school have made a mistake with their dates and I would point blank refuse to do a "special project". I am incensed with the idea. I would do something small that the child enjoyed like some extra reading, a story or a poster or whatever (of the child's choice) and take that in instead.
Fairy - you always sound so busy and productive, good on you. Your tapas sounds divine.
Little Miss Stilty has been incredibly busy - what a very determined young lady.
(((((((((((cornishchick)))))))))) gentle hugs, take care of yourself love0
