FPK - I have always wanted a decanter too
my OH refuses to even consider it as we wont ever use it, I planned on using cold tea in mine though, to give the look!! My grandad had many a bottle of spirits on display that when he died turned out to be a great disappointment to my uncles
Stilty - good luck with school tomorrow0 -

When DH has his weekend coffee and toast, he gets narky if disturbed whilst reading and manages to avoid most situations sitting with his headphones on.
That would seriously nark me I'm afraid. No matter how hard a week he's had, he's part of the family and during family time he needs to be a member of the team......time to read the paper undisturbed comes when the boys are in bed and the rest of the chores are done.
SQ you are a saint for putting up with that.
FP - Your dresser sounds lovely, you'll have to pop some pics up when it's done.
I've woken up with someone else's head on and this one is full of snot and sore throat. Can't seem to get warm either so an early night for me tonight as I don't have time for a cold this week.
Just had some packet mac and cheese for lunch - AF - 8 pks for £1 - not something I'd normally buy but handy as a hot lunch when I'm feeling a bit under par.
Oh and I meant to say - I was very un-OS and brought myself a kar-cher window vac this week......Oh my goodness it's fantastic. Smear free windows everytime, works wonders on my mirrors and ideal if you suffer with condensation as it just sucks up all the water. I'm smitten! (and my nan was as OS as you could get and I know she'd have loved one had they been around when she was alive, so I count that as sort of OS blessing)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Hugs to all of you struggling with illness, family demands, anxious pets and everything else life throws at us......
Just popping in to say one word: GARLIC! It's the right time of year to plant it, it's dead easy and of course very good for you. I would recommend buying the special garlic for planting from your local garden centre, as it tends to be a better kind for 'keeping', but you could also buy some from the supermarket and just plant that. Divide each head up into individual cloves, and poke them into the ground - they only need to be just below the surface, pointy end upwards. They grow fine in tubs and various containers (don't let them dry out), and as they really only grow upwards don't need much space. If you put them in now they will send up a green shoot, then stop while the weather is cold, but will be fine however chilly it becomes. Come the spring, they will start to grow again, and then would appreciate a bit of feeding - if you have a woodburning stove they love a sprinkle of ash. Keep them well watered while they are growing, then in the early summer next year the shoots will turn yellowish and start flopping over. Gently dig them up and leave them to dry somewhere airy. If you eat some of them at this point, they are gorgeous - mellow and tender. Plait up the rest, hang in a cool place and feel chuffed with yourself. Garlic does not suffer from any pests or diseases (but don't grow it where you have previously grown members of the allium - onion - family), it really is easy. Do try growing it.0 -
See there you go Pooky - if you're not making me spend pennies on yummy handcrafted items, you're making me go and get a window vac - I didn't even know these things existed! But our new house has major condensation due to previous tenant having insulated it with in an inch of it's life - will hopefully keep the bills down but it does create a lot of condensation now the weather has turned. Seriously hun - Thanks!
Having a lazy day here as I still feel really grotty with a cold and little master stilty is going through a really tired phase at the moment, think he might be revving up for another growth spurt! (eek - he's already taller than most of the reception class and he doesn't turn 4 til May!) He even took himself back off to bed halfway through the morning for a rest, bless him. Little miss stilty did yet more typing practice but stopped off to give us all plenty of hugs!
Little miss is calling again - catch you all later - HX0 -
Pooky I have been considering one of those for Oh for Christmas. Thank you for sharing
I have listed all the unwanted gifts on the bay, hoping it all sells as I have plans for the cash, am hoping to turn it into a new sofa for the dining room, preferably a decent sofa bed.
Yet more stuff gone to tip, and the bathroom still isn't finished, OH has done an awful job and is therefore taking forever. I am decided that the rest of the house I will have to finish myself as I can't take the mess and poor work he keeps on with. His refusal to prepare and move stuff has left a trail of devastation that will take much longer than the preparation would have done.0 -
(((HUGS))) kidcat, that's a rotten shame
Pooky I'm seriously tempted by the window vac - one of those might even make our son decide he'd love to clean all the windows in the house!
We have ours cleaned outside once a month, but the little landing window hardly ever gets cleaned any more; we had a great window cleaner for years but he stopped coming (I think his wife was ill and he had to work nearer home) and the company who does them now won't usually do the landing window as it's in the alleyway between two houses and most of them say it's "against health and safety" to have the ladder at such an acute angle. Really I think they just can't be arrissed to move my neighbour's wheelie bins out of the way.
Sheila good luck for tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you x
Cornish chick - You poor love, i didn't realise one could get shingles more than oncei hope it will be a mild attack.
Monnagran - Have a lovely time with Mia
Lyn - I hope you and Docky had a better night x
burtha Sending you (((HUGS))), sounds as if you could do with some!
SQ i hate it if my OH sits with his headphones on listening to music, especially as he's so grumpy if I need to interrupt him. It feels as if he's deliberately withdrawing from me, yet I wouldn't like it if he made me listen to his music either! I do enjoy music, but prefer to choose when I listen to it. But it seems unfair, to me, for your OH to withdraw at a hectic time of day and leave you to do all the rushing around.
:hello: to everyone I haven't mentioned, hope you all have as good a day as possible0 -
Happy sunday everyone!!! Poor buddies the puppy is a bit grumpy. He has what looks like a small cyst on his woo woo. Daddy saw it and just went to looks and as he touched it it exploded. So he cleaned it and hes now asleep. He looks better so maybe it was a tad painful. Will make the decision if a vet visit is needed in the morning.
Tuesday evening DD is going to visit another collage to see if there is any teaching assistant courses. It is the other local collage so hopefully she likes what she see's.
I did yet another tiny bit of Christmas shopping today. managed to get 2 Disney dvds for the price of one. So that is another couple of gifts sorted.
Maybe all schools are having a few problems, dd is still awaiting for some of her course work from march!!!!! and she refuses to allow me to go in as I am embarrassing. No its called telling the truth. Thank goodness its her last year there.
Well dinner needs sorting. take care everyone xBSC member 137

Afternoon All. Work seems to have ground to a halt here today after finishing some stuff off this morning, but all but one (big) room is painted and 2 new carpets laid by my dad. Now here is where I might seem a bit ungrateful - he wanted to come and help, but had to hire a car to do so and that money would probably have been better spent on a carpet fitter who would have taken considerably less time and have done it better. Ah well. I am, of course, still very grateful but now feel guilty that he spent 2 whole days doing it.
There's still more tip runs to be done and more stuff to be listed for sale but I think we are all close to collapse now so that's it for today. Tomorrow the estate agent comes back to re-take the photos which will hopefully refresh the page on rightmove and get a bit more interest.
Hasn't it got cold! I had the heating on morning and evening when my dad was here and now don't want to manage without it. See it only takes 2 days for me to go soft.0 -

Oh reminds me. Free school dinners for under 7's? I received an email on Friday from the school to tell me that all this week DD would be having packed lunch as the catering company struggled to provide hot food last week. They are using the week to update their facilities. DD is upset but it's short term. I can't help feel that this mass roll out of free school meals has been too much for everyone involved. It's definitely a big ask.
Tell me about it Fuddle, I'm serving up the new hot dinners having been to fetch them from our provider as there is no other transport available, and no funding to provide any; (I do get paid for time & mileage).
There are lots of schools and providers that just can't cope with it all.
Also add in kiddies who really don't want the food but as it's free they are having to have it!!!My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0
