Zebra fun Lyn I am visualising lots of laughs and big smiles :D I have heard those storms too. It was around in the night too here. Not enough to wake me up (already awake stressing about buying tins for a lady and realising she doesn't have a tin opener!) I hope for a calmer night tonight, especially if Docky is already climbing the walls :(

Possession I am stumped as to what you can make :( It's so difficult isn't it. The lady I batch cook for is a gluten free, steroid taker, severe RA sufferer, who can't have anything on her skin, doesn't like flowers in her home and lives on Roses so chocolates aren't special. Everything is tailored to her needs. I am trying to fathom what the heck I can buy for a couple of £ for her birthday. Actually? Maybe I can look at gluten free recipes and make something sweet to eat? Hmmm.

    It is difficult isn't it?

Eeeh gosh too much gabbing and not enough scone making!
  • Possession that is a tall order! I'm sure whatever you come up with he'll be pleased you made the effort. Perhaps a 'special' egg and gammon supper with hm hashbrowns. Alternatively, a slow-cooked pork roast with root veg mash and if he can eat it, stewed red cabbage? I think Mrs LW has a lovely recipe for it--but can't remember if it is suitable.

Its been a very busy week for me, but I've finally pushed something off my desk that has been weighing me down. I have no idea if it is 'right' or not, but I've had a go.

We got an Ald! ad through our door today. It has a £5 off £40 voucher on it. Looks like the super 6 will be great the next two weeks--chantenay carrots, cauliflower, onions, parsnips, leeks and jacket spuds. Lots of inspiration for the meal planning. We need to have a particularly frugal month for the rest of October, so its given me a boost to see that. The voucher should work out a week before the newspaper one.

Tonight's tea is white fish in panko with roasted leftover potatoes and salady bits. Should go and par boil the spuds now so they can go in the oven when OH is on his way home. Its the first night I've stopped work before 6 and don't quite know what to do with myself...well. I could sort the washing and tidy downstairs I guess. :p
  • It's quite rich and it has onion, red wine and brown sugar in but I'll happily pop it on as a recipe if you think it might be useful Posession!

Plumber just left and yippee we have heating and hot water!! After about 3 weeks (bar a few hours twice) without I am so relieved and DH will get his long awaited bath tonight. Last night I made endless trips with pans and the kettle to do a bath for DS10 and made the mistake of using my huge pan. Today my back has reminded me of that mistake! Next job is get a new shower installed so if the boiler plays up we can still keep clean without hassle. Unfortunately we have 2 unexpected plumbers' bills to adjust the budget for, annoyingly the first one was money down the pan (pardon the pun :) Also found a more reliable, better plumber who lives very locally so a good result.

Back later if I get the chance, having to use the PC when his lordship shifts his bum from the PC chair. I miss my laptop but fixing it/replacing it is not a priority spend for us at all.

    (((((((((jem))))))))))

Hope Docky settles down poor hound.
    Anyone heard from kidcat?

Glad you found your clothes monnagran, you do make me laugh :)

I've been playing with my new printer so I can now produce super huge designs for my papercuts. Have made a start on one that's been commissioned by a "local authority" for one of their buildings - looking great so far - just on a much bigger scale than I'm used to.:)

    Pooky, that's wonderful news :j  :j

SQ so pleased for you, just in time, it is certainly getting colder. A shower will save you money too less host water and if your metered less water.

I am probably too late for you Possession

what a nightmare. My DS20 developed an intolerance to cows milk at 6 months. You are going to lose some weight that's the best bit.

Check ingredients on everything, if it says whey, or lactose that is part of milk and they add milk in practically everything. If it does not have milk in it it will have wheat in it. Sorry sweets and chocolates are out unless you make your own, so are biscuits and cakes, they tend to have one or both in. You will need a milk substitute. I would recommend Almond milk it is higher in calcium and tastes better. Catarina makes her own you will find her on Lost my OS ways.

I found that about the only thing I could use that was processed was an ox*. Pooky is right your GP should have referred you to a dietitian. I would ask. One thing you may not think has milk in it is cooked ham. You may be OK with Ald! or Lid! they don't add water so they may not add milk.

Monna you should have been a comedian. That's why we all miss you when you are missing.

I have a habit of labeling some boxes Chop Sui because literally translated it means miscellaneous odds and ends. It is not a Chinese dish.

I used to know someone who used to put BTIH meaning bl**dy things in here for everything she could not put in a category.

Sorry Jem you said what can you eat. Well real food, fresh veg and meat, potatoes, rice, you can get wheat free pasta it needs to be both wheat free ans gluten free, caffeine free tea and coffee, nuts, pulses, in fact anything in its natural state in the food line, You can use oats so porridge is OK and use spelt instead of wheat flour and honey instead of sugar and try Twinks hobnobs. You should find spelt in a health food shop, a good one will have the flour. Better take someone shopping with you to be sure you read the labels correctly. I would come with you but I don't think you are anywhere near me.
