shh don't want to jinx it, but I have 4 days off in a row, starting tomorrow...
So thank you MrsLW I will be making some apple chutney.:)
Came home from work with huge plaster on my wrist. One of my ladies became anxious and grabbed my arm, with her nails!!! So much recording and paper work to do. And praise from a fellow worker.. For being able to say calmly " please let go, that hurts" shame I had forgotten to put my wrist brace on,, it wouldn't have hurt me at all.. Oh well.
I remembered to drop some bits of at the charity shop near work, and managed to pick up 3 brand new books that are perfect for that holiday coming at the end of the year. So I'm pretty much done.
Well don Mon, for 24 hours of healthy eating.. Every little helps:D
Nutty, sounds like it's all coming together, peace of mind is worth so much, iced like less stress with my job.. I'm Hoping they appoint another senior soon to share my load.
Mrs Lw I hope you caught up on your sleep.
Fuddle. Plans and goals are great. Live your dreams my lovely.
Every one else. Hugs n strength for the dramas and stress of life in the OS lane. X x. CCtoday's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Hi everyone. I take it has stopped raining everywhere and you are all out.
Either that or no one had any sleep last night and you are all still in bed lol.
Fuddle long night shifts for nurses is not so hard as days you do get to sit down a little, though not as much as you would think. Most night workers do it because they can sleep during the day. It is those who have to keep changing that suffer. I did it for years when my older two were little.
DS20 is enjoying his course. He says they all are because they are bored at home. The company is doing him good. He says he will ask for some more courses. It feels odd after 15 months to be on my own all day, though I would quite like it to be permanent. It would mean he has got a job.
Get well soon Gem it wont hurt your hubby to do everything for a short while. take your rest. I am about to e-mail DS 39 and tell him to take time off work he Your not the only one who wanted to do more winter prepping. I wanted to knit a couple of lap blankets but I will have to buy as I am still knitting Christmas presents and will be for weeks yet.
Oh this house is cold will also have to get a curtain to go up between the arctic kitchen and the living room. Even DS had his hoodie on last night. Of course he walked home in the rain from the other side of town, wont have a mac or get some new shoes.
Think I will go to town if I get finished, have seen some little blankets in B&M made of that sort of furry material they make dressing gowns from.
They should be warm.0 -

Hello everyone
The puppy sounds lovely nuttyp and by the sounds of it, you have made the right decision about your job
Enjoy the sleep wondercollie
I hope your wrist is ok cornishchick
How are you getting on with your DD being gone VJsmum?
You have my sympathies with regards to your SAD playing up Sheila I wondered why I have done nothing but want to cry since Sunday and realised that mine has reared it's not so pretty head again
Well life is plodding on here in Leicester. I'm getting used to DS1 being in Hull and making the most of it by cooking the things he doesn't like and not feeling guilty about it like I did while he was home. Last night we had leek risotto with salmon fillets and tonight we are having minced beef and onion pie and veg.
DS1 seems to have settled in well, apart from being unhappy about having all morning lectures. He generally doesn't do mornings if he can help it.
We are having an expensive month, what with DS1 going to Uni and decorating and carpeting his room for DS2. Then DH's sat nav is on it's last legs and the cost of the maps and live alerts has sky rocketed. So we decided that it was better to replace it now while there is a £50 rebate available. He drives around 1000 miles a week for work and being able to avoid the traffic jams makes a huge difference. So I need to have a big sort out of the cupboards and freezers and see what is lurking.
Something else to add to what seems like a huge and ever growing list.
With my SAD kicking in, I'm finding it all overwhelming. I have some things that have to be done and the rest I'm being kind to myself about. I have a SAD light box, but am trying to find a bulb I can put into the lamp by my chair, as I think it will be easier to use. Any suggestions about where to buy one would be appreciated.
In the meantime I will console myself with pastry
Take care everyone xxx0 -
SDG, there is a wide range available on Am@zon if you put daylight bulb into the search. Just check that it's not coming from China if one is really cheap, as it will take ages to get here and may not survive the journey.
I need to catch up a bit.
Monnagran, 38 years ago I used to see the Westbury White Horse every morning from the train window on my way to work in Trowbridge from Warminster.... happy memories.
I'm hoping that fireworks will be noticeable by their absence this year, for the sake of all pet owners.
A dear friend got back in touch after a few years and was telling me how one of his cats had suffered a burn injury from a firework. The little expletives who did it also grabbed hold of him so roughly they broke his jaw so that it had to be wired.
What sort of adults will they become? The cat made a good recovery and nothing has happened in recent years, but it is upsetting to hear of such things.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... My turn to be dog tired. Got home at 9.30pm to all the dirty dishes, washing on the line still, school prep to do and an extremely overtired DS10 to settle down. Too tired to do anything other than heat a can of rice pudding for my dinner, it was lovely though, comfort food. Finally went to bed at 12, then DS7 had a nightmare and posh cat woke me at 6am.
Good news came in the post. DS10 has scored highly in one of the school selection tests (the one we thought he had done best in.) Still no guarantee of a place there but a very good chance and it will do his self confidence no end of good too. Proud of my boy, he has worked and tried so hard.
We have a smaller boy over this afternoon as my friend has a meeting. Unfortunately he is terrified of cats so ours are sulking in the garden.
Got to go and cook tea for smaller boy, he is used to eating early.0 -
Well done Master SQ the Elder, and well done to his Mum for being there and doing all the work in his life to make him a success, hope so much he does get his place, because both of you have more than earned it!!!0

Something I think will probably have been mentioned on here, but I couldn't find it, Jack Monroe has a new book coming out.
The link is to Am@zon, my educated guess is that if the book gets enough pre-orders the price will drop substantially, given what her last book is now retailing at.
The good thing with Am@zon is that if the price does drop and you have pre-ordered at a higher price you get a refund, I got £2 back into my account with Clare Balding's latest book. I am really looking forward to the new book. There were some good solid recipes in the last book, a couple of turkeys (Diet Coke Chicken) but overall it was extremely well done.
I got sent a green Thai curry kit to review for Am@zon, the spices and oil came in a four pack, so that's on the menu for this evening. DS31 is working late so we eat late.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Remember you are also missing DS1 SDG31000 so it will make you more sad be extra kind to yourself - hugs. Do any teenagers do mornings?
I would try one of those shops that sells things for the disabled for the bulb and Amazon should be good.
Not surprised you called them little expletives mcculloch thankfully some grow up to be decent human beings but it does make you wonder.
Congratulations SQ DS10!0
