    Morning all

I wonder why so many people are having issues with posting - might be worth emailing the board guides?

It's dark and windy here this morning, think it's set for the day too.

Need to pop to the local tip and get rid of some clutter, I'm on a mission to not keep shoving stuff in the garage with the thought of "I'll sort it later". Will pick up some milk whilst I'm out, DD2 seems to be drinking it like water at the moment, I won't complain as there's worse things to be drinking.

Congrats to Master SQ, fingers crossed he gets the place he wants. It's such a worry to try and get a good school. I was so glad when DD1 got into her grammar school but then wished we'd sent her elsewhere when the backbiting and bullying started - I know it's in all schools but it's horrible to see your kids go through it.

I put the winter duvet on last night - oh is was bliss. So heavy and thick (I did spend half the night with my feet hanging out to cool me down) but it just felt so comfy. I feel quite refreshed this morning.

Lots of stuff in the fridge to use up so will roast off some veg later for a soup and a risotto over the weekend. The last couple of nights dinner left overs will get combined with some eggs for a fritata style thingy for the next couple of days lunches. I might even make some cakes....

LOL - diet coke chicken is a "turkey" :-)

Thanks, McC, I like Jack's first book (personally i didn't like the chocolate tea bread). I find a lot of the recipes are really good on my "2" of the 5:2 days.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

morning all. Finally have a day off today, and I need to do a quick grocery shop. Eldest DD has finally been in to see the house they are buying, hopefully they will be sorted by the end of the month as there rented property ends on the 5th November. We ended up buying her a fridge yesterday as when they viewed the house there is no where to fit the fridge freezer, we found one in a clearance shop with a warrenty for £70. So that's there Christmas present sorted, but they are getting it early.

Buddie the puppy is now scared of bikes and cars going really fast by him. He seams to be getting more scared every day bless him. He still loves a good cuddle tho.

Did you all see the news of the plane crashing in Lincolnshire? The place literally landed in the field directly behind my brothers house, the next village from ours. The smell in the air was putrid, and there was thick black smoke. Lots of air activity afterwards. The pilot is safe, and no one was hurt apart from the farmers field of crops.

Tomorrow the offer of the week for boots is suppose to be the joules bag of goodies at half price. Not sure anyone needs one, but it may help someone get a cheaper xmas present.

SQ well done for the exam result of DS. Pooky our DD is 19 and still drinks milk like water...... mccolough I will look out for the book when it goes down a bit. I often wait a week or two after its release then whsmith end up with some deal or other.

    Take care all x

SQ well done to DS10 :j Fingers x'd he gets a place if he liked that particular school.

Jem - Hope you are starting to feel better. Do try to take it easy for a while, though I know you're fed up with having to do that x

nuttyp Thanks for the heads-up about the boots offer. That was awful about the plane crash, thank goodness no one was hurt.

Burtha and the other people it keeps happening to - how frustrating to keep losing your posts. As Pooky says, it might be a good idea to email the board guides, then they can tell the techies. It does sound as if there's something amiss somewhere as it's unusual for it to be happeng to so many people!

Wondercollie So pleased to hear you're not working nights any more :):):) Our younger daughter is a nurse too. She had been working as a school/community nurse for several years, then moved to a hospital job with a mix of days and nights. She has been going round in a permanent haze of fatigue, but has recently started a new daytime-only job and is feeling better already.

    - Do you take Vit D? I read that it's been found to be as helpful as a SAD lamp. I always take it in the autumn and winter and it certainly does help get me through all the gloom.

Have chiropodist appt this afternoon. it's now three weeks since I had my toenail done and it's definitely feeling better, yay! I'll be glad when it doesn't need a dressing any more.

Keeping my fingers crossed for DS, SQ.

My dad is coming today for a few days and I'm tearing my hair out to think of something we can all eat. He can't have diary, gluten, soy, lots of fruit & veg (he can eat root veg, tomatoes, green beans, peppers). He can't have anything with onion in which includes most stock cubes, gravy powders etc. I shall do some kind of shepherd's pie concoction one night but I was going to do chicken fried rice tonight but have just realised I usually add loads of soy sauce, peas and sweetcorn and he can't have any of those!
He's coming to lay a couple of carpets for me so I have to be very nice to him, LOL!

Only a little work on today thank goodness as I am down in the doldrums a little too. I expect it's the working weekend coming up although I have more breaks this weekend... if no one calls in sick. I am going to get back to the magnesium too. I have let it slip lately but beginning to feel pressured and a bit 'fidgetty'.

I'm off to go do a bit housework upstairs then do a stock shoppinglist for next week. Believe it or not I am not happy with my food stocks and feel we consume too much (not too much, just ordinary family meals) and I struggle to get it back to healthy limits and within my grocery budget. I was much more secure in my food stocks way back in the damp house when we had less money. So frustrated about that but I am making progress.

Anyway. I am using up mushrooms for lunch so having an omlette.

Tea tonight is going to be mince and onion gravy, cheese scones and a side of roasted carrots and parsnips.

I am currently indulging in a hot chocolate as I type to you. I just didn't fancy tea or coffee. I made the right choice :D

The airer is out drying DH's work jumpers as the tumbler is on for the rest of the items. It's showery and very windy. Too much for ourdoor drying today.

The heating has been coming on on a morning and a little on an evening. We all still have the summer duvets on but windows are now on the latch letting only a little air in for condensation issues. I am sleeping with a blanket on me. Kids are in onesies. DH insists it isn't time for the winter duvets yet. I think he's right but I expect it won't be long.
  • Hi All, reading along its just been mad. Just wanted to suggest for possession--

What about onionless chilli? Mine has beans, mince, (make my own seasoning) peppers, and tinned tomatoes.
