Fuddle it might be this time of year. I always get down in autumn, I hate it. I've been a bit fedup lately too, and yesterday for the first time in my LIFE lol I wished I lived in a town, so that I could go out to places like Stitch & b1tch groups or knitting circles. It's hard to stay motivated sitting yourself at the fire, I see now why up in the islands and on Shetland the women all sat together and did it.
Also keep the bedroom windows open a crack in all weathers, apart from thick fog or driving rain.. it keeps you and the house healthier :)

Sorry I should have said FP that he can't have chilli, garlic or any strong spices, but I could do a bolognaise-y concoction with rice. I think my parents have gone back to meat and 2 veg type meals because his diet is so restrictive now, which we almost never eat but we probably need to for the next few days.

Sos and mash Possession? or are sos out because of the rusk? Or beef simmered slowly in red wine and served over a root veg mash?

I believe he has to have gluten free sausages but I could buy some of them. DS doesn't like sausages but he'd have to put up with them! Can't cook with wine because DH doesn't drink (alcoholic). Aren't we complicated! The root veg mash sounds very nice.

Possession I can heartily recommend Heck sausages. They are 97% pork and gluten free. I buy mine in Tesco and DH who is very fussy about sausages loves them. The chicken italia ones are lovely as well.
I love carrot and parsnip mash made with lots of butter and milk and black pepper.

I have finished the book for book group this afternoon, but the weather is truly horrible at the moment. I will make myself go out and get some fresh air, even if it means I risk going rusty around the edges. I'll pick up some bread to go with the soup I have planned for dinner. Roasted butternut squash, sweet potato and red and yellow pepper soup with a swirl of cream and some bits of fried chorizo... Yum. Then maybe something with custard for dinner as I have pints and pints of milk to use up.

I'd better put on my BGK and my wellies and head out soon.

    Take care xxx

P.S the book is "Stay Where You are and then leave" by John Boyne and I would recommend it.

Hmm you could try with just red grape juice, or pork in apple juice or try THIS, if you leave out the onions, use herbs instead of the caraway and oil instead of butter ...

Well, I have found my winter clothes - I know you were all just longing to hear that and will sleep easier tonight. They were in a box labelled "Summer things for when I lose weight." Ho Hum. I wonder when (if ever) that will be.

Have caved in and put some heat on today, gave it an hour and switched it off again. It made the world of difference, everything suddenly felt cosier. However, cosy comes at a price I am unwilling to pay so I will put on one of my newly discovered thick jumpers and get on with it.

Possession - Egg and chips! Gammon and chips, chicken and chips (substitute mash for chips if you must)....that's basically what my parents lived on when they were here with similar food requirements. It's hard work when you're used to chucking stuff in and seeing what comes out.

So windy here today - but the suns been out so it's warm, the winds not cold at the moment but I expect as soon as the sun goes down it's going to get silly cold.

I've an evening of crocheting ahead, there will be candles and maybe a podcast or 2, I can never find anything on telly worth watching.

I've been playing with my new printer so I can now produce super huge designs for my papercuts. Have made a start on one that's been commissioned by a "local authority" for one of their buildings - looking great so far - just on a much bigger scale than I'm used to.:)

Gammon in the SC so the house smells lovely, looking forward to testing it when it's ready. It's driving the cats mad :)

Monna - Amazing how a bit of heat just makes everything a little less bleak isn't it. Glad you found your winter clothes.

Mar - Would you consider moving somewhere less rural at some point do you think?

Jem - Have they said why you need to avoid so many foods? Your GP should be able to put you in touch with a dietician to help you figure out where to go.

  • We have a poorly upset Lurcha at the moment as we've had a succession of short but noisy thunderstorms and torrential bursts of rain through this afternoon. He is NOT a happy chappie poor old lad and is pacing and panting round and round the house, hope it all calms down soon.

My Zebra is coming to visit on Saturday, DD2 rang this morning to see if she could come up and leave him with us for the evening while she went out to meet a couple of friends for dinner and then stay with us overnight woo hoo, Babies!!!!!!!
