Well done Nutty good result and great that you will be getting some support now. The drop in money equates to £10 per week so peace of mind will be worth way more than that.
Sorry for all those with broken sleep. It was wild up here too but no thunder. I am lucky that my pooch is fine with things like thunder and fireworks but know others who are not so fortunate.
Been busy catching up with housework and will use my ex's large tumble dryer (he lives in a tower block with a laundry room) to get everything dry and save wet washing lying around for days. Only costs 50p for30 mins and the dryer is huge and can take approx 3 loads at once so def worth the money IMO. Right more stuff to do catch up later xx0 -

DH and I have committed to a plan for retirement today. I say committed in that it can be changed and even cancelled if we fall on hard times again but as it stands we are going to put aside as much of our disposable income as we can to put towards a retirement dwelling when we hit 55.
The bank staff were very helpful but couldn't fathom why we didn't want to strive now. I guess not many people can but we mucked up and now have to go steady, looking for nothing other than achievable stability.
So our belts are tightened even more now but it's a nice feeling to be working for the long game.0 -
You're in favour today monna. Post, post, post!0

Yipee!
Now of course I have forgotten what I wanted to say. Rosanna, loss of memory is even worse than having to take an afternoon nap. Mind you I have almost given up trying to go out in the evenings. By eighto'clock my brain and body have parted company.
Ginny: Welldone on the weight loss. The Rev and I have both put on loads of weight since we have been here. The hospitable folk invite us out all the time but we can't go on like this. Monday saw us deciding to TAKE STEPS. The Rev, who plunges in to new ventures like a demented lemming, vowed, "no sweets, no biscuits, no cake, no puddings, no bread, no potatoes, november." I pointed out that she would only last 3 hours on this regime and it might be better to start with something gentler and more sustainable. So we settled on 3 meals a day but nothing inbetween. Yesterday went well. Today she had a meeting this morning and I was invited out for coffee by two darling church ladies. They had bought especially nice biscuits at the meeting and I have to admit to a slice of lemon cake. Still, we did manage 24 hours.
Lyn & Fuddle: Right, my friends. Start thinking about somewhere in the middle of the three of us and I'll be there. I know Southampton very well as my Grandparents, parents, all our uncles, aunts and cousins, and my brother and I were born and brought up there. My brother and I went to the same schools as our parents and until three years ago, when my 97 year-old Dad died I was there every ten days or so visiting him. It seems strange now that the only reason I have for going there is to get on the Red Funnel ferry to the Island. I'll be doing that on Sunday as we are going over for a few days, so I'll be driving past Ikea. PAST Ikea!
So sorry for those who had a disturbed night. We had wind and rain yesterday but today has been bright and sunny and as I lift my eyes at the moment the sun is still shining and picking out the White Horse at Westbury beautifully.
Now we'll see if this lands in the right place.
Fingers crossed.

Have to brag, I had EIGHT hours sleep last night!. Home by 2345, in bed by midnight and a little read. Woke up at 0845.
Most sleep I've had in months. Even Mr. Collie let me sleep.0 -
I don't think I ever saw so many shoppers as I did in Southampton on Saturday. That was my first city shopping trip since I moved and it was a shock. So many people!
Wondercollie you rock your new normalityI'm excited for you! A good decent sleep is all that keeps me sane sometimes. I know I would be a mess if I worked nights. Much respect for nightshift workers, especially those that work long shifts that I do on a weekend... to do that at night? I'd never cope.
Speaking of which I am about to go to bed early and read my gifted frugal cookbook that cost 20p from a charity shop.
I have done my shopping list and concentrated on offers. Pleased to get 2 tins of soup for £1 for the stocks. Also bought a few ready meals for the freezer so DH doesn't mess about with my ingredients at the weekend as those stuffs are spoken for in terms of meals in the week.
Milk/bread deliveries have been going like clockwork. I don't know what time they arrive but they are waiting when I open the door at around 8am Mon, Wed and Fri. Just enough to keep us in flow. It is annoyingly more expensive (I just hope it's being passed on to dairy farmers. Must research that) but hey ho it works for now.0 -
Just stopping by to say hello! Not been posting for a while but have been trying to keep up with the thread! Busy time with new job and uni assignments. Job is going well and everyone is lovely! but there is a lot of pressure ( which I hadn't really appreciated) as they have waited a while for me to be appointed and start! Had photo shoots and everything - which I hate! but I guess its all part of working for a charity and having to get lots of publicity for fundraising (although can't see how my ugly mug will help!)
Uni assignements done for a few weeks - so got to focus on sorting the house a bit and trying to keep costs down whilst preparing for Christmas!!!0
